Stock.I have had a generic fart can, hollowed out stock can, HKS axle back, straight pipe, straight pipe with a resonated tip all these are seriously dam quiet.
I only hear a slight rumble at idle and sounds like a lot of air rushing out when I accelerate.
I don't see how you guys get such...
Good question. I will check.
I can see how the launch does it, but braking while clutch is pressed?
I have seen weird crap in my lifetime so anything is possible.
I have read numerous threads about bad front ball joints. I don't think my issue is a ball joint.Few things first. 96 GS-T Spyder with 74K miles. Ball joint recall was performed. Car was stock when I bought.
I am the second owner. The previous owner is an older lady neighbor.
Issue noticed...
Springs were not cut, I would bet on cheap e-bay.Lowering the car is not a priority.
The shock and coils and hardware were $15 each at the salvage yard.
I also enjoy working on cars, this was a fun experiment. So far no major rubs from bumps even at high speeds, one scrape from a speed bump...
Sorry for the crappy pics
Before:
After 2" dropI tried using these http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/SPR4/181901/N1716.oap?ck=Search_coil+spacers_N1716_1205840_-1&keyword=coil+spacers&pt=N1716&ppt=C0361But only got 1/2" of lift.....boo!
Crap!!!! Just finished putting in all the coils/shocks.
The car dropped 2"I think it looks great ( i will post pics), drives ok, maybe a little stiffer. I just think the first big bump and my inner fenders will rub and take the fenders with them.I would like to raise the front about an inch...
I figure they weren't any better. The beauty of this whole thing is that these are complete assemblies...basically pop n drop. If they don't work out, I can put the old ones back in. At $15 for each corner....not a bad gamble.
compression and rebound seem about the same as the old Sensa Tracs, not to say the sensatracs were any good.I went for a ride with the lowered rear and the ride was descent. Not bouncy, maybe a little softer than stock.
I did not have a chance to take corners fast..probably not wise with a...
Thanks for the input...This car doesn't get much miles, so hopefully tire wear isn't too premature. I think I will proceed with the front suspension this week. But first I am painting the shocks and springs...those silver shocks and blue coils ruin the stock look.
I was pulling rear brake splash shields at the local salvage yard and also got some shock/struts.
Shocks were KYB GR-2. The coils are probably cheapo blue coils. I know KYB are entry level, but have to be better than my Senso Tracs. My 96 GS-T Spyder is basically stock. After popping the rear...
when mine was stock, I couldn't break traction and boost was around 14psi. Changing the intake tube and K&N I now break tracking and boost now goes past 15psi and is quicker.oh ya..I reversed the diverter valve. It must have been leaking.
I know duplicolor makes a color that matches most rims From Porsche to VW, but it seems like the 2GA wheels are a bit brighter.I was hoping someone knew the specific color.Chrysler...that's a mighty nice ride. I am jealous.
if you are crafty, hit up the scarp yards...every eclipse I see has been modified.
I picked up a K&n drop in filter from a Galant. I found another this weekend.
I think it was $4.
Trying to keep my baby close to stock as possible and looking to refinish the wheels. This silver is whiter or brighter than most silver wheels.
Anyone have a recommendation for the color of paint in a spray paint?Excuse the dent..that has been fixed. Thanks
So it's time to renew the registration on my 96 Spyder. A whopping $22.45.On the email there is a link (http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/air/vei/) for info, I accidentally clicked and bam
I get this ...a DSM, is it not?I am probably wrong.
I have pulled and push, not much difference. one of these days. I am going to pull the liner and see whats goin on.
I am truly afraid that the Velcro stitching falling
I am with the venting solution. It's not like you're venting R12. Not saying its legal, but you're not likely going to get caught. If you do, I doubt its $10K.I would use the jug and water method, this will ensure you don't get oil everywhere.I think the AC manifold at Harbor Freight is $59...
Does anyone else getting a popping sound from their ragtop?I am not talking about the motors, this is once the top is locked into place.
Sound appears to be coming from the joint at the front windshield & top.It started as a rare popping sound while going down a bumpy road. It sounded like a...
I know this is an old subject, but is there a place to buy upper lower IC hoses?
I have tried multiple OEM online vendors and such. Junkyard is no better than mine, seeing I only have 75K miles.I am trying to keep mu 96 stock looking.thanks
Well taking off the fender was easy.
I will be getting the car back this Friday, I will slap the "new" fender on and return back the shop.By the way..whats that sealant Mistubishi used between panels and body? The stuff has to come off for paint.
I am just curious, in case I have to reseal.
Are all 2g front driver fenders the same?My 96 GST Spyder was nearly immaculate with original paint. Some ahole darted across my lane and I ended up with a dented fender.I know 2ga headlights are different, just not sure about fenders.
My insurance is covering the bill but the shop can't...
Thanks for the input. I will try sandpapering the fender, and another spot if I can find one.I believe the previous owner. She's a 60 something year old neighbor. This car had 70K miles when I bought it and it was always kept in the garage under a nice car cover.I thought I would at least...
So some person decided to change lanes resulting in blocking me and a small fender bender.I have 2 questions about the paint.1. Did a 1996 Black Eclipse have a clear coat?
From what I can tell, no. I want to make sure the body shop matches the paint correctly.2. Does the paint on this...
Seeing you have a huge piece remaining, looks like you got a few options. I would try a pipe wrench and PB Blaster.
Try going forward first and then a back forth motion slowly backing the bolt out a bit more each time.If the bolt breaks and you have a nub left you can try one of these...
I wire wheeled first. I did not have the means to soak the son of a gun. So basically I brushed the exterior and other rusty exhaust parts for a couple of hours. Then went to bed. The entire next 20 hours or so the Evapo Rust dried up and got sticky. I am pretty sure that Evap-o-rust is an acid...
Sorry, forgot to mention I wire wheeled the crusty spots. Most of the muffler was pretty clean as opposed to the pipe. After removing the paint the muffler was almost mirror like.I have painted more rusty things than I can count. This is a first. Rustoleum and similar products are designed to...
Any Chemistry majors here? Here is something weird. I used Evap-o-rust to clean surface rust. Then scrubbed with dish soap and water. Air dried then wiped with denatured alcohol. Coated with Ace Rust Stop BBQ High Temp paint.Within 8 hours there was a bunch of white powdery marks...
The Megan downpipe looked amazing, but I still need to flatten the flanges a bit and 1 had the tubing protruding from the flange. That definitely had to go.You might be able to see where I sanded the tubing along with the flange.
I though it was on the sales brochure that the PO gave me. Can't seem to find it.
She also gave me the window sticker. Under "Durabiltiy/Relaibity" options it is listed as Stainless Steel Exhaust with Tips - No Charge. The car is a Wisconsin car. Moved to AZ like 14 years ago. Garage kept.I...
Hopefully this helps.Recently installing a Megan downpipe and redoing the factory exhaust I had some not so perfect flanges. Stainless steel exhaust, My Ass!I seen people file and file to get the desired results. Well I am lazy. Apparently a Harbor Freight Hand held belt sander (item#69859...
Thanks.I don't plan on upgrading the clutch. I always ended regretting it.
My VW....cost way too much.
My Miata...racing clutch felt like crap and no one can drive it.The GS-T is a great comfortable quiet ride and good on gas...I don't want to screw it up.
Reading about the crank walk is making me nervous. I have a beautiful stock GS-T Spyder and I want to take care of it.Is it safe to say that since I have 70K miles and no issues that I shouldn't worry about crank walk?I am the second owner and the previous owner pretty much baby'd the car.
I...
My Jeep had something worse than that for years before I replaced it and it went through mud and water.A busted boot will just result in a quicker failure. If you can't fix it, keep an eye on it.
i just pulled some slotted drilled rotors from a 98, but I figured what the hell.Sadly, it kept bombing out. Once I was able to browse. Nothing great in the rotor selection.
So ,was the exit side really 3"? i just tried installing a 3" Apexi downpipe and it was too big. It wasn't even 3" and no way in hell was it going to fit the tiny stock cat back.i have been searching and reading for hours now and I can't seem to settle on a downpipe that just bolts in.In my...
I honestly considered doing one in the cig lighter. Found a few 1" pressure gauges from an Industrial supply store.
Only issue is that I would have to install the lighter elsewhere for the radar jammer and cell phone.I thought I would try the steering pod first.
I noticed that my idle was kinda rough today. So I double checked my routing at the Fuel Pressure solenoid and at idle it wasn't open after a few revs it opened back up and allowed air to be sucked in.Anyway, here is my wastegate pics.Wastegate - Side viewBetween wastegate and Solenoid -...
