I used a 7 inch galvanized carriage bolt I had laying around as a motor mount in a 92 toronado w/ 3.8 v6 because they didnt make the mounts anymore. Does that count?. My DSM still has the balance shaft since it's for the street. I'm glad you explained what we were looking at as I've never had my...
I bought a mint 92 talon tsi Fwd in 2015. It was bone stock with 87k original miles. I did some tasteful upgrades like hta68 turbo, 3 inch exhaust, vrsf intercooler, 950cc injectors, ecm link, etc. I work construction so I only drive it on nice days if I don't have to carry many tools to the...
You are probably running to much boost for your setup without a tune. Keep the boost down until you get ECMlink or something. I had same problem after upgrading turbo until I increased injector size and started to calibrate it properly with ECMlink. Of course do a boost leak test right away and...
That plug looks like it's running slightly lean. Normal plug should be more tan than grey. Lack of fuel under boost could cause this. Car will retard timing to try and compensate which kills power. I can't see gap on the plug from that angle but make sure they all gapped correctly. Fuel filter...
The hose going from the valve cover port just goes to the intake pipe before the turbo. I have stock rubber intake pipe with a nipple for the hose to connect. I have and inline filter in that hose to help catch oil and keep it out of the intercooler pipe. Some people use a catch can for this...
It sounds like its fuel starved at higher boost. Fuel filter swap is a great idea as a first step now that you mentioned the fuel tank flush. My tank was full of rust when i opened it up to change the fuel pump and i ended up getting the tank cleaned and relined by a professional company since i...
On my 92 the valve cover breather hose does go to the intake pipe. I cant really answer your other question except to say if the throttle cable is rubbing/resting on the engine maybe it would send the vibration to the gas pedal.
Thanks. Yes it at 86k orig miles and spent much of its life in Arizona from what I was told. It WAS bone stock too when I bought in may 2015. Even though it was fwd I couldn't pass it up since I always wanted a talon and it was immaculate.
Hey everyone, glad to be a part of the DSM world. Ive wanted one for a long time(20 years). Im formerly a 429 ford Torino owner but with these gas prices over $3. it was time to change projects to a more MPG friendly hobby car. Glad to see the DSM owners are still active out there.
