    OEM vs Competition Clutch Fork

I did a test putting in both forks with the transmission out. They appear to both have the same range of motion with the TOB. The oem fork with 10,000 miles felt a lot smoother pushing the TOB up and down the shaft sleeve. The CC fork felt like it was getting stuck when it was all the way back (...

    2G Competition Clutch Pivot Ball

Hi, This question is for anyone that has used the completion clutch fork and pivot ball. The pivot ball ships with what looks like a nylon washer on it. I’m just trying to find out if I leave it on or take it off. The directions don’t specify. They do have a picture of a pivot ball with the...

    General WB weird downhill

I recently installed an Innovate MTX-L. It had been working well and displaying readings consistent with what is happening (rich under boost/load and full lean going downhill with my foot off the gas) most other times it hovers around 14.7, even with mild acceleration with minimal boost. The...

    2G Left turn chirp

1999 Spyder gst The last few times I’ve driven it, when I make a left turn on windy roads I hear a single chirp or tweet. It sounds like it’s coming from the interior but I can’t swear to that. Only suspension mod is Koni sports about a year ago and 225 tires 6 months ago. I’d be less concerned...

    2G Wiring the Innovate MTX-L

Why does Innovate recommend a 1amp in-line fuse in the on/off relay circuit? Is it even needed? I know there is a 5 amp fuse for the power circuit. I just don’t understand why the relay side needs one, especially since the relay wiring for the fuel pump rewire doesn’t call for it. TIA

2G Anyone ever change their AC clutch/pulley/bearing?

My 1999 Spyder GST has begun chattering some of the time, but only when the AC is turned on. I’ll try to get under there and turn the pulleys a bit. In case it’s a clutch or bearing, I was wondering if anyone here had replaced the clutch and bearing on their AC? Thanks!

    Wheel size for 225 tires

Hi, I’m looking for some opinions (and pictures). I’m going to 225 size tires and wonder about your thoughts on 7.5 inch or 8 inch wheels with them. 7.5 is closer to a stock look I think. While an 8 inch is just a bit smaller than the tread width. What I don’t want is to end up with a rolled...

2G Losing oil but not a lot of smoke

1999 original long block gst. Not burning any oil. 130,000 miles. So a window broke and I didn't start or drive the car for about 10 days. When I went to start it it ran fine but when I ran it through the rpms up to 3k, I noticed exhaust smoke. I shut it down and checked the oil level. It was a...

2G Anyone just replace shocks only

I'm ready to replace my oem shocks with konis. I don't want to lower the car however. Is it acceptable to just replace the shocks and leave the springs alone? Would the handling improve a little bit over stock? Thanks

    Exterior rubber seal care

My exterior rubber seals are in pretty good condition. Does anyone have recommendations on products to keep them in good shape? I'm after longevity not shininess. It's a convertible, thanks.

    2G FWD Manual Transmission Noise

Hi guys, thanks for taking a look/listen, apologies if this is basic. I've had some minor noises driving my 99 fwd since the clutch was changed a few months ago. Like a very light rubbing or grinding sound. I changed the front wheel bearings at the same time. So I'm not sure if the noise is...

    General Wideband Installation

Hi, I'm finally getting around to installing my Innovate MTX-L Wideband. I've read much on our forums regarding this. I will be installing in the front O2 sensor location and using the simulate narrowband capability of the device. My question is, is there a good reason I can't use the existing...

2G Fastest Way to Fix the Most Common Reason for Brake Lights NotTurning Off

Are your brake lights stuck on? Even with the key out of the ignition. The most common cause is the brake pedal lever is no longer pushing the brake light switch in far enough. Why? There is a rubber pad on the brake pad lever that deteriorates and falls to pieces over time. The pad pushes the...

    2G Fuel pump change strategy

So for those of you who have changed a 2g fuel pump on a gst, do I really have to cut the sheet metal to remove the pump? Is the fitting that's in the interior really to high risk to unscrew? Thanks for sharing your experiences.:)

    2G Clutch recommendations (modest)

I'm not needing a clutch yet, but I want to be ready. The car is a daily driver with a lot of clutch use. The car will probably never see over 250hp. My profile is up to date. I'm leaning towards oem replacement vs SBC (?which type) but I am open to your experienced opinions. Thanks in advance...

EVOscan Air flow vs air volume

Just wanted a definition and to know what some of you are seeing. I'm not tuning yet. I use evoscan to log. My air flow measurement correlates very closely to ecu load, wot pulls/tps, timing, and idc. My air volume measurement seems to be a random number generator. Something wrong or should I...

    Throttle body seal tips

Hi all, At the risk of:beatentodeath:, I thought I'd add my 2cents on what I learned while replacing the shaft seals on my 1999 gst TB to make it easier. First of all the vfaq is quite good and the vendors here and Snowboarder714 sell what you need to do it. Three tips. 1. The dreaded throttle...

2G Throttle Body Shaft Seal Preference

It appears that STM has a throttle body shaft seal that is metal around rubber, while the extreme psi/jnz seals are all rubber. Could anyone opine which is better or correct me if I'm just mistaken? Thanks

2G 99gst Spyder MPI fuse location

As title says looking for MPI fuse on 1999gst Spyder, as way to do compression tests, preoil new turbo, etc. I've read forums and my FSM and still unsure. Best result I saw was "try the blue #4 fusible link in the engine located fuse box". Anyone out there agree with this? Just want to be sure...

    O2 housing bolt

Awesome! Stripped one of my O2 housing bolts when removing it. Is the general consensus I need an oem bolt, or can I go get a (? hardened ? Heat treated?) 10x1.25 31mm bolt ? Thanks for your thoughts.

ECUflash Tuning with ECU flash and InnovateMTX-L wideband

Anyone ever tune with ECU flash and innovate wideband? I am keeping both existing O2 sensors and adding a bung for the wideband sensor on my stock down pipe. I am wondering if anyone out there has tuned with this setup, and if so did they wire the wideband to the ecu, simultaneously log the...

Suggestions for removing manifold to turbo bolts

I am attempting to replace turbo. The manifold to turbo bolts/stud appear as in photo, the one with the stud I was able to loosen the nut. The three that look like bolts I haven't been able to budge. I really don't want to break them. I've tried PB Blaster and worked on them after driving the...

3rd Brake Light Options for 2g

My LED 3rd brake light is down to about 40% function of LEDs. It appears that this item is no longer made. Anyone have any suggestions for finding a new one or custom fixes or replacements? I don't want to get randomly pulled over for such a small thing. PS not much on the way of junkyards on Maui.

Easy 12 volt wiring tap solution?

Finally got my AEM electronic boost gauge. So I was looking for an easy 12 volt source to tap into. As it turns out the bolt that holds the fuse box by the drivers left knee is an excellent ground. I also noticed it would be super easy to pull the 10 A gauges fuse in same area, bend/spread the...

Don't want to change my 99 ecu

I've searched a lot but most threads are pretty old or not really specific. I would like to log and do some smallish DD type upgrades. I want to leave my stock 99 ecu in place. I've gathered this rules out link. Is is still possible to log and flash a 99 ecu with ecu flash/ evoscan? If so do you...

Bent valves during Timing Belt change

I couldn't find this exact situation so here's my experience (so far). I'm doing my timing belt for the first time (at 120,000). 99 Eclipse GST. Using the VFAQ and a couple of other resources. I got to the balance belt replacement and VFAQ seemed to suggest you could sneak the new balance belt...
