While forums are still a thing, let's put it to use.Long story short - I gave up on this build and sold a lot of the parts after discovering some concerns with the engine I bought. Brothers bought a bunch of the misc things and I hadn't looked back.Fast forward to last year, my brothers...
Did this a while ago lol like 2 months ago :laugh:But then the XD9s went on the GS so I needed some wheels to clear the bbk...luckily I have a brother who owns an MR Evo and had extra wheels :D got a great deal on these 18' BBS Wheels:If you see in the pervious pics, the coils where set...
Just buy these to go with those XXR's:http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-pcs-universal-3D-Brembo-Look-Brake-Disc-Caliper-Cover-Kit-Front-Rear-Red-/281632138219?hash=item41929563eb&vxp=mtrBut in all seriousness those are similar specs to Evo wheels which clear the Brembos. But it all comes down to...
Real quick--bearings and hubs came in:Start installing some parts:Since rotors and pads aren't here, it's prop a good time to install the calipers brackets for the 3kgt BBK...which I seem to have lost...yea. I'm facking pissed.
So in my rage, looking for that damn flat rate box, I find...
Nothing much has been done, just a few minor things:
Brother installed new bearing and seal on halfshaft:Then went out to @talonesi95t work shop and decided to do my 1st caliper rebuild unsupervised  we'll find out if that was a bright idea in the future :pIn all seriousness, it...
Last night, I didn't even get a txt...my brother @talonesi95t was already at my house, ready to get the trans installed by the time i got off wrk! Huge help!Anyhow, after a few, yet minor hiccups, we got the trans installed:Major parts are done and settled in...now onto the tedious task :/
Thanks for the luv, Gus! It's greatly appreciated!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnnnnnnnnd...quickly escalated, it did:A lil closer:No photoshop skills here::laugh: so my brother @talonesi95t shoots me a txt about 4:15pm and ask if I wanted to throw the motor in...so I was like shyt why not :p...
Correction on wheel fitment--I went to go push it closer to the concrete but it failed to move; come to realize the rear wheels actually didn't clear afterall but a 3mm spacers took care of that:And my brother had this shift knob sitting around so I decide to utilize it since I didn't have...
Not to be as blunt as Boosted, but I agree with him.Have you ever wondered why these wheels are so inexpensive? No stress testing, weaker material, not original (reps--we all know what that means; stolen idea from another reputable companies) and overall lacking in manufacturing...
Yes--here's a few diagrams for a quick reference; notice that the lower the offset the wider the outer lip/dish will be: Note: a +45 offset is considered HIGH while +15 is considered LOW.HOWEVER; realize and take into consideration that the design will also play a factor--is this case the...
Chris, after re-reading your initial post, I must comment--the tires themselves have nothing to do with the wheel itself in terms of "lip/dish". That is all dependent on the wheels specs and design.Think about it--how is the tire gonna make your wheel magically transform and evolve some more...
Just to stir the pot--I just installed some 18X10 +38 on the rears of my 96' AWD Talon with a 245/40s:Just enough to clear. the fender will need good roll and a slight pull but I can't imagine having to run more than -2° camber:My specs are different, obviously, but at +38 offset as the...
Still haven't installed the dust boots--I simply haven't had time :sad:but what I did do was install the wheels so I can move it around and finally get some real work done:And lets start with the Rears:Close enough right? Shouldn't be very hard to fit these at all:I know, staggered...
Got some spare top hats and forks from Glen so I decided to put together the koni/GCs after I sand blasted the tophats and forks then coated them.New vs old:1 done:And before I knew it, they were all wrapped up and ready for install:When time permits, I'll throw on the fuel filter...
Middle timing cover:and an FP20gAlso, had to make a trip to the Powder Coat guy so I figured I'd take him the calipers to have done up:Gonna swap it in whenever I find time. been busy with...life lol too much going on and not enough hours in a day.
Not sure how sever your rash is but there are a bunch of different methods--a few on youtube and on other forums. Here's a link to one of many:http://www.clublexus.com/forums/automotive-care-and-detailing/507574-diy-polished-lip-curb-rash-fix-it-now.html
I started from scratch with my 2g TSI AWD--2.3 motor, trans w/case, full gasket kit plus OEM belts, fp20g, 550cc injectors, evo9 fuel pump VRSF intercooler and I'm at about 4k. prob another 2k to get it running well with DSMlink and a tune. Ball park figure.
I also come from the Honda (Accord) scene lol and these DSM's intimidate the crap out of me :(Trying to swap in my 2.3 stroker and it seems like I'll never get it done--just one thing after another keeps coming up. Missing a sensor here, there and so on.
I recently had to put my AWD 2g onto a flatbed and it was a PITA since there was now evident front tow hooks :/ didn't have a swap so we were able to manage by hooking it up on the rear subframe an as little jerking as possible.
I'm actually trying to get my swap in as well! but shell is at my house, swap at my bros shop and our cherry picker is acting up :/ plus my dang wastegate broke (nipple) while in transit :(Would you guys happen to know anyone with extra tophats and forks for 2g AWD suspension?
GST with PSI's post nailed it.If you don't have washers then use a ruler and a straight edge. measure how far in the face of the wheel/tire is from your fender.
There's a lot of information missing--what wheels are you running? what the width and offset? Are you on stock suspension or lowered? do you want your wheels to stick out and protrude passed the fender or under? with or without camber? Tire size? But anyhow, as stated; there are a few different...
