Just wanted to stop in and say that this car is a monster and I can't wait to see it fully dialed in. Also, it was a pleasure working on the car with John, Jon and Rob. I wish I could be there to help support and watch at the UTCC and then run HPDE over the weekend.
No insult taken. I've reviewed my settings (I can alter fuel/timing/airflow every 250rpm's with ECU+), and there are no changes at 4500 rpm's. I've added 1-2% fuel at 4750 up, to try and compensate for that lean condition, but, that's about it. Like I said earlier, no drastic changes in timing...
Thanks for the reply 95GSXracer. I fixed my problem, it turns out when we re-wired the alarm and stereo system (thre previous owner must've hired a 3rd grader to do this job), we swapped the ignition and front o2 sensor wires. Both wires are black with silver bands, so we just swapped them back...
I had my car tuned on the dyno yesterday and came across two interesting facts. First off, my front o2 does not cycle properly, at idle, partial or WOT. I believe it cycled between .0 and .3 (and it never went above .3 volts, even during WOT). It never cycled anywhere near the .8-.9 range I was...
I was just curious if anyone could help me out. I would really like to put a 2gb front bumper along with the headlights on my 95. Does anyone have a picture of a 2ga with just the 2gb bumper/headlights, painted a solid color...prefereably black? I just wanted to get a feel for what it looks...
This may be like reinventing the wheel, so bear with me. I believe, it is most common to install the boost controller (BC) on the wastegate and BOV lines. In other words, run a line from the wastage to one end of the BC and then a line from the BOV to the other end of the BC. However, I was...
Will do. I've auto-x'd before, however, it was with my 57 trim'd 1g GSX. It was a lot of fun, but hard to drive a car in auto-x, that's set up for drag racing. I'll do a full-write up.-Bill
Thanks Andy! I see what you're saying about a different slip threshold with the 2100. I'll get that boost controller before I go back to the track and I'm sure it'll be a different story. Also, my next write up will be in a couple weeks, I plan on attending an Auto-x on June 11th at FedEx...
Well, it's quite possible. I just know I'm launching the same way as I did with my 2600 (on my old GSX, cutting consistant 1.7s). But I do think I could've launched harder, I was afraid I'd smoke that lil 2100, my first 60' was a 1.9, and I smelled clutch burning. Regardless, next time I'll...
I was shifting at 6500 on my fastest run. This is a 95 GSX, so I'm on the T-Too Small. If you were as well, then I seem to be about right. I do need a boost controller, I even had access to one if I had wanted it, I was just curious to see what it would do on stock boost. I won't be going back...
I did an intake-leak test before I went to the track, found several and took care of them. Car felt 10x better. Also compression and timing checked, both were spot on. So, if I should be trapping higher, I'm not sure why. Also, car blows no smoke, and no apparent shaft play in the turbo.-Bill
Well, as the title says, I went and did my first Test'n Tune at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, with the 95 GSX I just picked up. The car is VERY lightly modded, only power modifications are 3" exhaust w/ cat, ACT 2100 clutch and upper intercooler piping w/ Greddy BOV (routed, of...
My girlfriend wrote this and sent it to me today after reading the 9 Rules of Owning a DSM on an earlier page in this thread. I thought they were hilarious...and oh so true.9 Rules for Dating a DSM Guy:1 - Do not touch anything on the car without asking permission. If you get...
Martin, there's unfortunately not a lot to say about this kind of situation. It's painful and it sucks, there's no way to replace the one you lost. All I can say is, I'm sorry, and I'll pray for you and your family, especially your aunt and uncle. You say the word and we're there.-Bill
You didn't have to call everyone Keith. But, I don't get a chance to check the forums all that much, so maybe next time people should just call those on the team who don't respond to see if they've heard about it? By the way, why weren't you at Jerry's house?-Bill
Hm, don't remember getting an invite. Kind of hard to show up to something I didn't know about, eh? Oh well, guess I should rephrase my statement: It's been awhile since I have seen everyone, so it'll be good to hang out again.-Bill :dsm:
I plan on partying like it's 1999 and I'll be running the X at the track on Sunday. With some race gas and mild boost I hope to hit low 12's! I'll see ya around 2 on Saturday Jerry, btw, need some directions, I'll call Liam or you and get 'em tomorrow. Hope to see everyone there, it's been...
Are you kidding me? He asked in his e-mail if I had cash readily available? OF COURSE I'm gonna pick up the car!... :nono: Obviously I won't be dealing with this guy, I was curious however if I should report him to someone specifically, that was my comment on advice. Alex Alexis... ROFL Makes...
I saw an ad posted on autotrader about a 99 VR4 for only $4,300 and decided to look into it. Well, this is the e-mail I recieved from Alex Alexis (Alex Alex-is...hmmm?) :Hello there,
I m Alex Alexis the owner of the 3000GT you are interested in.The price i ll let the car go...
Yes, I'll be at the Megameet after GT8. And VaBoys2ndGen, you should definately come out to GT8, hell, we could probably install the boost gauge and (obviously) the MBC there! It would NOT be the first time we installed parts at a meet...everyone in Team Trinity knows whats up.-Bill :dsm:
The only difference between my piping and a 16g set up is the j-pipe. Also, all you need to do is purchase a slimline fan (PM me for the location, if need be) and place it on the backside of the radiator (between the rad. and front mount), if of course you have no AC and have all ready taken out...
Here a couple pictures of JR's FMIC kit. This is on a 91 GSX, just a little FYI. Hope they help. This is where the piping heads to the drivers side endtank, between the frame and radiator:The next two are pretty self-explainatory:-Bill :dsm:
I'll be attending, just like I have the past 2 or 3 months. I'm sure several members of Team Trinity will be there as well, since we've always had some show up.-Bill
Right, I forgot, beer is better then me...ass. :D Wait...it probably is, nevermind. Yeah, I'm bringing the yuengling or killians, either way. HOWEVER, it will NOT be a repeat of my brithday...I promise. :barf:-Bill :dsm:
1. Justin (Will bring potato salad)
2. Jen
3. Liam
4. Nikki
5. Jerry (Going to claim i brought the potato salad)
6. Keith (Ill bring Lauren)
7. Lauren (she will bring the food)
8. Bill (I'll bring myself...what else could you possibly ask for?)
I'm basing it off the fact that I know what one looks like, and from that picture (as limited a view as it is) it looks like a Greddy Type-S. Also, I'm not sure Hotshyt knows what's on his car because he told us his BOV was recirculated when it's quite obvious from the pictures it wasn't and...
You must mean the turbo'd and nitrous'd with slicks up front, maxima, huh? Yeah, I believe he pulled off a best of 11.5. Impressive none-the-less.-Bill :dsm:
First run ever for me was of course against a Chevy Corvette. And of course it can't be a normal corvette, no. It has to be a god damned Z06. I was fearing for my life, the thing was stock, but the z06 badging left little comfort in my mind. Now, I know my times may seem a little slow, but this...
Well, I'll be there on sunday as well then. I have silver 1g GSX with a frontmount, feel free to stop by and say hi. I'll be the one running the slowest most likely. I'm going to be there at or before the gates open, let me know if anyone wants to exhange numbers and meet up.-Bill :dsm:
Alright everyone, the track opens up this Saturday. Test'n Tune on Saturday the 5th, and then midday madness on Sunday the 6th. Admission for TnT is $30 to race, it's $15 to race on Sunday in Midday Madness. There's a $1000 payoff on the TnT day. What's everyone feeling? Test'n Tune or Midday...
Ha! I've said it before and I'll say it again: Anytime you wanna trade, let me know. You can do the alternator without taking off the belts, at least on a 1g. Believe me, I did it on the side of the road...not once, but twice with minimal tools. I wouldn't do the timing belt again this soon...
Nice to hear Martin, about the GSX and license! I'd love to get a look at it before the meet, hit me up and let me know. And, I expect everyone here to be at MIR on March 5th or 6th, test'n tune then midday madness, respectively!I'll join you on Monday Jen, just give me a call hun.-Bill
I went ahead and re-read the entirety of the posts in this thread. Not once was a single fact or figure of this turbo mentioned, beyond your all-ecompassing "a very large piece of crap" judgement. If you have actual facts and figures as to why exactly this is a mechanically or structurally bad...
I have to disagree with your disagreement, at the risk of sounding redundant. You may say it has nothing to do with vendor hates, however, inadverntently, it is a part of this conversation. And I feel that if Slow Boy Racing does in fact have an issue with a vendor, they should have made clear...
Alright, well that's something. I just got word back from my exhaust manufacturer, and they said they did not perform any decibel test on it, nor do they know how to do it. Very dissapointing, especially since it's a fairly famous shop.I'm happy that the test is not to be done at roadside...
Okay, I looked at the bill as it is being proposed right now, and I agree, that there is very little information given on the test. In fact, it's just the earlier law being amended. However, as you pointed out, the manufacturer conducted the J1169 test for their exhaust systems, I will contact...
I also would like to point out that if you read the bill, it is aimed at ending the enforcement procedure for exhaust systems right now. On top of that, read the initial paragraph:"· H.B. 2895 would remove subjective provisions in the law and force compliance with an objectively measured...
Alright, if what you say is true, and the way the exhaust is measured (decibels) is not explicitly explained in the bill, then, why not go and pay the fee to learn exactly how it IS measured, get it measured, and in doing so get your car legalized? Is this extremely difficult or complicated...
Just to clarify, when mentioning the Viper and SRT-4, I was talking about how loud they are. I've ran some SRT-4's (only at the track of course), and even stock they are quite loud, I'd say even louder than my car, and I have a 3" exhaust system. So, wasn't saying the lack of mufflers had...
