I just finished rebuilding my motor (bearing went out). Got everything hooked back up and I went to do the compression test and I realized it was in reverse. When I went to put it in neutral, I noticed there was a lot of resistance. So I ran it through the gears. Results-

Trust me, I bought my car as a project car and im fairly young. It can really suck.Think about when your girlfriend is home alone but you spun a road bearing. Then that reliable Toyota sounds a lot better.
Will do! I was planning on tuning it myself anyway. The only reason 3D tuned it in the first place was because the car was getting other work done, so I thought I might as well.Once I get the engine back in the car and get a fmic ill turn up the boost and see how the log goes.
Just wanted a second opinion because Ive read different sides.Im assuming im not tuned conservatively at all because its tuned to run 12.0 at WOT. Ill just tune it then. Thanks.
1000ccs are from my old 20g. The 14bs wastegate was set to 10 psi for unknown reasons. And it didnt bother me at first. But now I want a bit more. So is a retune needed? I didnt know if the fuel map would keep up with the extra boost.
Ive been getting 25 highway if I drive right.I struggled with misfires for so long. Ended up being that on dsmlink you have to uncheck "use 95/96 cam angle sensor". Im embarassed to say how many parts I replaced before someone local helped me out.
EVOs are great cars also. If you have any newb questions, feel free to PM me. This was my first turbo car and I've done all the mods with really no experience, so I think I may be able to help/
Well I am sorry, because I sound like a dick. But from my experience, if you don't use enough coats, it doesn't peel right. Also, if you use dip remover from dipyourcar.com, it comes off wayyyyy easier.Make sure you post how it looks! May help me decide if I want to go that route.
I don't get the CEL for it. So it may not be misfires, but I get a really bad shudder. I always assumed it to be misfires, but it may not be. Could it possibly be clutch? The car is very hard to drive more then 10 minutes like this. I don't get it until the car warms up, and then it's very...
Well smaller gap didn't work. Nor did changing over to speed density. Really lost now. Just as an update
Things replaced-
Fuel injectors
Power Transistor
Spark plugs
Coils
Wires
MAF
CAS
CPS
Things checked-
Fuel transistor
ECU
Wiring
TimingReally running out of ideas here. I am most likely...
Well misfires are still here with the new power transistor. I adjusted my deadtime, because I suspect it was really far off. it seemed to make the misfires go away at first. But today, they came back. I'm going to drop my gap on my spark plugs. I wonder if the gap is too big at 0.28 with a...
The resistor is on the fire wall, which is what I tested, all were 6 ohms which is within spec. All the the fuel injector wires were reading 4v while cranking, and from my understanding they're suppose to be 12v.
The new CAS tests good. The problem, was every single CAS I got, already had the bag opened (got at advanced auto). I assume people just swapped out their CAS and returned it back to the store.I battled a no start for over 2 months with the bad CAS. If popping a new one in made it start right...
Narrowed it down quite a bit.I'm only getting 4v to the injectors. Tested the thing on the fire wall and it tested 6 ohms across the board - so it's good. A new power transistor will be here tomorrow. Hopefully that does it.
Of course... My idle is pretty good except I think I'm getting some misfires and it's not completely steady (goes inbetween 680-820 with my target idle at 750)
These are new wires. I have replaced everything spark except power transistor. New fuel injectors, wires to the fuel injectors are good. ECU is good. No boost leaks.
Compression is 170 across the board. Getting power to all the fuel injectors. The spark plug wires were sort of loose, so I got them tighter on the coil packs. Still getting misfires. Ordering a new power transistor now.
I will check tonight, but my LTFT Los have been terrible. Like -15+ before I did mafcomp. I believe my 50hz slider is -12. But my LTFT Mids have stuck around 0 (0.2 is highest it goes)Yup I've done the same with the plugs. I took out my coil packs yesterday and made sure the connections are...
No bueno on the new injectors :confused::confused:I thought for sure this was going to fix it. I tested the injectors by unplugging each injector and seeing how it effected my already crappy idle. If I unplugged 4,3, or 1, the car almost dies. I unplugged #2 and almost nothing...
I tested my power transistor and it tested out OK. Also, my head is freshly machined and rebuilt, so my compression should be ok, right? I got the work done at a trusted shop that does work mainly for drag cars.I do have the old 1000cc injectors laying around. I know they worked, so I will...
