    Wastegate help

Thanks! I have two springs for it and I think I'm actually running a 10lb spring. So it's opening up pretty good. I would love to get a real one but funds are limited right now. What is your opinion of the gap in photo one vs. photo two? Got any recommendations on a quality diaphragm? I...

    Wastegate help

Also, does anyone know what type of knock off this is? Like Tial MVS for example. I would like to get a different spring and see if that makes a difference. I emailed the person I got it from and they didn't know. Thanks!

    Wastegate help

Hey Everyone! I got the turbo Warrior running pretty good. I've been having an issue with the wastegate not opening. I took it apart and found that part of the diaphragm was pinched between the top and bottom sections. Fixed that and it seems to work better but still not opening real well...

    Turbo Heat shield loose

Hey guys! Got done rebuilding the turbo yesterday and I noticed that the CHRA heatshiled was loose. It was all coked up when I took it off. I cleaned everything and rebuilt it. Is this normal? Please see video link. Thanks! M

    Usable?

It did. Now I can proceed know I won't need to replace the housing. \m/

    Usable?

Sweet! Thanks guys! You confirmed my suspicions. \m/

    Usable?

A friend of mine media blasted the turbine housing. I'll attach a couple of photos. Let me know what you think. I think with my low boost of 10psi it'll be fine. Thoughts?I still plan on porting and polishing it as well. Hopefully reduce the cracks a bit. But I think they're pretty deep.

    Oil supply fitting sizes

OK. Let me ask you this. Are all td04 the same in regards to oil supply fittings? Oil drain fitting? :D

    Oil supply fitting sizes

Hey Guys! I got a TD04HL-13t turbo. Does anyone know what size the fittings are for the oil supply and drain? Like -10AN, etc. I need to make a custom oil supply and drain lines. Also, does there need to be any sort of restrictor for the supply line or is it built into the fitting? Thanks!

    Usable?

Sweet! Thank you. I'll still plan to port and polish it. Hopefully it'll help with the flow a bit.

    Usable?

Here's a shot of the flapper area.
  18. MMFB

    Usable?

    K. Thanks. I'll post pix tomorrow. Won't have an opportunity to take off the flapper for a better look until then. M
  19. MMFB

    Usable?

You mean all the way through to where the flange attaches? Because there's a crack in the wastegate hole that lines up with it.
  20. MMFB

    Usable?

    Correct. A 1700cc V-twin. Thank you! Quite a relief. :)
  21. MMFB

    Usable?

    This picture might help more.
  22. MMFB

    Usable?

Bought a used td04. There are cracks in the exhaust housing. I will be using an external wastegate if that makes any difference. Do you think it's usable or is it trashed? Thanks

    Turbo cleaning

Cool! Thanks! I was thinking about that as well. Might just do that as well.
  25. MMFB

    Turbo cleaning

I'll have to try that. Thanks. There has to be something that I can run through the chra to clean out all the junk without damaging any of the internals. I don't plan on using the water coolant part of it but would like to get out all the old oil residue. I run synthetic in my bike...

    Turbo cleaning

Looked but didn't see a whole lot on this. So here it goes. Is there anything I can soak the turbine (exhaust) housing in to clean out caked on exhaust stuff. Got a used turbo that I'd like to really deep clean before I paint or powder coat. I read that you can use WD-40 to wipe the...

    off brand external wastegate recommendation

Thanks for the great info fullthrottle7! Nice set up miliman13! I haven't decided which route to go yet. Thought about letting dump but obviously not at my leg. Also considering fabbing a pipe to go back into the exhaust. Space will be an issue. I was planning on a v-band so I could rotate...

    Compressor Map Clarification

Holy S***! I just realized that!! I've been staring at this map for awhile now. Lol! Thanks for pointing out the not so obvious to me!

    off brand external wastegate recommendation

    K. I'm still going to run a line to it but it's good to know and it does make sense. \m/
  32. MMFB

    off brand external wastegate recommendation

Not going to paint. It'll be silver or black when I buy it. the EMUSA ones seem cheap enough to buy it new in the color i want. But it's an option if I get a good deal on a used one. It's going on my bike not in an engine compartment. I could always powder coat it if needed later. Thanks!
  33. MMFB

    off brand external wastegate recommendation

So with a 5 pound spring it should open at 10 psi. Interesting. Thanks!
  34. MMFB

    off brand external wastegate recommendation

Dude! That's a great idea. Never thought of that. So let me ask you this. If I put a 10psi spring in is there a reason why it wouldn't always open at 10psi? M
  35. MMFB

    Compressor Map Clarification

True, but I was looking for a more precise answer. If every other one is 0.5 then they get misaligned pretty quickly.K I think I found it. I'll post the picture here for anyone who's interested other than myself.

    Compressor Map Clarification

Yeah I got that. What I want to know is which vertical line is the .15, .20, etc.
  37. MMFB

    off brand external wastegate recommendation

True. It should work fine on td04hl-13t @ 10-14psi.
  38. MMFB

    off brand external wastegate recommendation

I saw that. I need it to be either black or silver. Preferably black. Its going on a motorcycle and since it will be visible I wasn't everything to match. Picky I know. M
  39. MMFB

    off brand external wastegate recommendation

Sweet! I'm not going to run anything near that amount of psi. Probably 14 max!
  40. MMFB

    Compressor Map Clarification

I just noticed that the map says td04h and not hl. Don't know how much this matters either.
  41. MMFB

    Compressor Map Clarification

So I bought a td04hl-13t turbo. My question is does anyone know what numbers line up to what lines on the compressor map? The ones at the bottom. I know what they mean, etc just want to know which vertical line corresponds to .10 or .15, etc. Thanks!
  42. MMFB

Anyone have a good14b turbo for sale?

Porting just helps the airflow to be less restricted right? It doesn't spool sooner does it?
  43. MMFB

    off brand external wastegate recommendation

Thought about that and I've been keeping my eye out for awhile but they still seem pretty pricey. I've got a turbosmart bov but I don't really want to drop that kinda money for a wastegate. But if I can find a good deal on a used one I'll get it.I've heard of guys just replacing the spring...
  44. MMFB

    off brand external wastegate recommendation

Title pretty much says it all. Hopefully this the right area to post this in. Possibly looking for a 35 or 38mm external wastegate that people have had good luck with that's not a name brand like Tial,Turbosmart,Precision, etc. Not wanting to drop $200 plus on a new wastegate. Any...
