got my first DSM at 17, a 94'GS I'm 35 now and since then a 92 talon dl,93gs,97gst,98gsx,95gsx,95tsi,98gst,99gs,92gs,92gsx, and I recently found the 97 gst which was sold in 2003 which is going to be built again soon
you really really need an impact gun. I have done many strut replacements on many types of cars. If no impact gun is available and you have to grab the strut with vice grips grab it as high as possible in the event that you nick the shaft. This way is a pain and takes forever. With an impact and...
If I was in your situation and could do a straight shot without waiting at stop lights I would go for it. I would make sure battery has full charge fire it up and take off. Make sure you don't overheat it you don't want to be warping the head or anything like that.
check in the classifieds under 4g63 parts aswell as the part outs. Should be able to spot something there also theres a wanted section to toss an add up too.
From your description it sounds like an internal trans problem but I would rule nothing out until I looked over everything else since that is the most expensive part. I had a lot of shifting problems in a 92 talon I had years back and all it was was a crack in between two of the springs on the...
hard to tell from the pics but may be an injen intake, and don't drive to much before you fix that mount I can see the motor sagging just from the pic. Happy boosting
you could also try threading a long bolt into an accessory hole and tapping upward on the bolt. Do this gently as to not damage the head and when it pops loose you now have handles to lift the head up.
aftermarket cats really don't seem to last very long from my experience. I usually get about 2 years out of one on a daily driver. A misfire will kill your cat in a hurry aswell so make sure you figure out that situation before installing another cat.
sounds like bad motor mounts. you can pop the hood put on the e-brake put it in drive and lightly press the gas. If you see excessive movement of the motor it's the mounts.
check out the new motor the best you can before installing it into the car. There a lot easier to work on when there not jammed in that engine bay. I never trust anyone with their claimed mileage. I bought a car once with 65k on it then did a carfax and that thing had 165k on it.
another thing when towing is to stop and check the straps a few miles after beginning your journey. If the car is going to wiggle around and settle it will in this short time always double check. If you never had a vehicle come off I can tell you it's not pretty or easy to get off the dolly when...
do you need to turn the key then hit the button? He probably jumped the wires at the starter because hes to cheap to buy a starter. I have done cheap things like that before except I used a doorbell switch I found in the shed.
I just googled 3m military green and I gotta say that with some black or gun metal wheels would look pretty stealthy. It's your car and your call but you got my vote so toss up some pics if you pull the trigger.
check the main power from battery to starter, then connection for solenoid make sure its tight then I would check switch at clutch, just throwing ideas out but a place to start.
I'm going through the same thing right now. The messed up part is my original account from 12 years ago with with over 200 posts and old pictures is still active just not by me or my "unrecognizable" email for some reason. Yes I tried the resets and emails but no dice so I'm starting over and...
you might want to also check that the two drains in the hatch rails aren't leaking as well as the hatch weather stripping. theres plugs under the spare tire you can pop out so it wont hold water until you figure it out. You don't want to end up like me I just cut out my whole floor under spare...
honestly I've never had to replace a stud on a dsm so im not sure on any clearance issues but if theres room like my chevys had I used a punch centered on the stud and a good hammer atleast 20oz. to bang them out. To install you could either bang them in (never tried it) use a shop press which I...
theres a very small allen head bolt facing you on the left and right hand sides if your by the pedals facing the seat. remove those little bolts then slide off the gear drive things they are holding and seat can be moved manually. It may require more force than a non-power seat but it will move.
I would cut that whole section off a few inches past the rusty section to get nice clean metal and weld in a patch. The main thing is to take your time and be patient. I generally sand bondo with 220 grit and try to stay 1/8" or less so it wont crack. I suggest the small rubber bondo scraper...
It's been 9 long years since I sold my gst and finally I feel at home again with my recent purchase of a 98 gsx. It's amazing how much has changed with the mods for these cars over that time so I look forward to learning from you guys.
