Who did you talk to, was it David? I have called them before, but a long time ago, about my HX40 BEP housing and its bad threads. They worked with me very well. He sent me the display unit. :thumb:
Mounted the intermediate shaft to the motor so it was there when I am switching out motors after we installed the new bearing kit in it. That wasn't as much of a deal as I thought but I did dent the large seal, hence the extra RTV. Modded the exhaust gasket to work with a 2g head and the larger...
I have used heads with FAR worse issues. You are worried for a reason but that little burr will smooth out and you are fine. Rest easy!
If you sand it, CLEAN it, just a reminder. No grit in the motor! :thumb:
It will be OK. If it makes you feel better, take some 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and just work the little nick out. If you can't feel it, your OK. It is just aluminum and the cams are hardened steel so it will conform if it needs to.
PartsGeek still has the GPD units.

@curt-s , I tore that old one apart a few years ago and did a writeup on what I found HERE.
@Dericsh is correct.
KS32 - 2g.
KS28 (no longer made by standard motors) - 1g.
I talked with one of Standard Motors engineers about the KS28, as Standard has a plant here in town. He said they farmed the KS28 out to a Philippines company or something like that but I can't find anyone...
I have a supply for my rebuild needs and trust GDP and have used them. I thought I had 2 to show but I don't. My plugs were identical. That was at least 2 years ago tho. Here is what your knock sensor looks like INSIDE.Marty
It really worked much better than I expected Pat, and the pictures show the progression as we went along. He just checked the tank everyday. If it were something small, you could use a plastic container and put your objects into the soda/water solution, ground them and then put a cathode into...
Sorry, I haven't been on in a couple of days. The process he used was with baking soda and sacrificial metal (which he had to replace 3 times). Here is the basic's of how he did the tank. He used my winch battery and a battery charger hooked to the battery on "low, 2 amp" then clamped jumper...
Yeah, 35 dam years ago Pat. I used to HAVE HAIR. I still do but not alot. I was probably 25. ROFL
Nobody EVER takes pictures of me and the grandkids or just me, I am always the one taking the shots! :)
Testing the two step hit in "Ole Rumbly", the '86 Z28.
She runs good enough to make a S10 V8 Swap think twice. :thumb:
We'll get her to back to the track soon! She's no slouch.

Not to unrail the thread but I am looking for a set of 2g forged 85mm pistons if you find out they ARE for a 2g and decide to sell them. I have a 7 bolt needing them.
I wouldn't use that one rod for sure and I'd also be skeptical of the others. If it got hot enough to blue it, it has changed...
We were surprised by all the different things we used. 10 gallons of vinegar at $3.25/gallon worked surprisingly well but the tank had HEAVY RUST as you can see. We did vinegar for 4 days. He did the 12v battery electrolysis for 4 days also, and it took off the heavier stuff. If you just had...
Pictures of the Super Rusty gas tank on the 1987 Accord and how Trevor progressively cleaned it. He said it was about $150 for the complete POR15 kit that included degreaser, etcher and the sealer, all POR15. The 1st pictures are of how the white vinegar worked then it progresses to the...
Came across a couple pictures from the 80s and my vehicles back then, after the V8 Vega, 1970 Chevelle SS and 1971 Camaro SS.
I'll try to find a picture of all 3 of those from the 70s.
Man, that's ALONG TIME AGO.
It is my '87 IROC-Z Convertible and my '75 Chevy Blazer. Such fun vehicles from the...
Clean it off with brakes parts cleaner and see if it comes back. When the dipstick pops out, it sprays oil everywhere. It could be residual oil from that.
Man Jesse, I sure wish I had known about this. I would have LOVED to take a week vacation and wrenched with you guys and learned even more.
I really enjoyed today's episode. Great seeing so many DSMers all working together, knowing what needed to be done, getting it done and showing IT AINT...
Make sure to pull the race AND any shims out of your original side cover and install them in the new side cover, no matter which brace you use. I have a FF on my stick car and a Magnus cover and JB brace on my auto. I love both setups Jeremy. Just wanted to remind you so you don't have any issues.
Playing with this old Honda (1987 Accord Hatchback, 4 cylinder FI, 5 speed) that my son picked up for $500. We used vinegar to remove the rust from the gas tank (which worked pretty dam good TBH) then he utilized electrolysis on it with a 12v battery and a cathode to get as much rust off/out as...
My center section, between the two tail lights, says Mitsubishi on my 1990 GSX but not on my Laser or Talon (but the Talon has a Talon logo). It that the original part or did it need replaced at some point? Not nit picking, more ADMIRING how good the car looks. I also run the "Flex Fuel" badges...
My tuner always has me ground my AFR gauge to the same point that the ECU grounds at, for the gauge and ECMLink to read the same. I moved my gauge ground, and it did, in fact, start matching up to my ECU readings. I run a LC2 from Innovate, BTW.
Ah, you said it. Thats good enough. ROFL
If they are having to mess with the TPS, they should already know how to adjust it manually, otherwise, why even be touching it. There are other threads that address that. Mine is just to show that it can be easy to get to them, if that time comes, if...
I know you can't pull it out, but my son used to work for a detailer and they would pull it and take it to the car wash, wash on HOT SOAP and they ended up looking "almost" new (and smelling nice too). Just what I've seen done is all. Yours still looks alot better! :thumb:
I do this to all of my DSM throttle bodies so I can get to the dam bolts and loosen them for proper adjustment without CUSSING because "how do you get to that back one easily?" :idontknow:
I hope this helps out all my DSM family and anyone else that has a hard to reach TPS.
Make sure you cut an...
Love the panda car. My White 90 GSX is the only "stockish" DSM that I have and I do love her but she doesn't stand a chance against the Red 90 Talon or the Blue 92 Auto Talon, both sporting HX40's, cams, 2150's.....all the goodies. :)
Welcome Back! Love the car, but I am biased, since I have several 1990's myself. Add in your experience anywhere you can, since you aren't a "newbie" ROFL
Marty
If a turbo drain line is at the level of the oil or below it, it will pool in the return line and cause problems, as they have to drain all of the oil that is being fed so that the CHRA doesn't get slowed down by the backup of oil.
My eyesight is going, along with my hearing.......At least we all got a chuckle out of it and I did just do it for fun anyway ROFL
AND....Brian comes in with a full blown picture. :thumb: Dam I sure am an antique.
9/64"'. I took all my covers back off, checked the grenade pin (all good) and measured with drill bits. 5/32" is too big and 1/8" is too small. I don't use the drill bit method but that is what it comes out to (9/64") if you use the drill bit method. Really nothing wrong with it if it is a...
What year was the air in your tires Steve? :hmm:;)
I have no room to talk. Mine are not currently running. :banghead:
I also added air to one of my tires today :)
My machinist reworked my Manley I beams that were for 21mm pins so I could use 22mm pins (and .250 wall thickness) and he charged me $20/rod. He did all 4 "by hand" and they felt perfect. Just for comparison.
He's lucky he has his moms hair! The older son has mine. I "used" to have a mullet, LOL, but now it is thin, receding and not getting any better. The oldest son HATES it because he is just 30 and looks like my 60 year old hairline, poor kid. :pAny idea WHY it happened?
I have a 6 bolt, rebuilt with NPR pistons and I feel just fine about them. As mentioned, if you want to run a set of 2g's, the rods need to accommodate the 22mm wrist pins that come with 2g pistons.
