Yeah over 20 timing on that boost sounds respectfull. I had 24 at peak on 16g with 8.5:1 currently peak at 15 with 10.5:1 and fp green around 20 psi. I would need new clutch to boost any higher as my current one starts to slip higher boost.
You could clean your grounds and try with another battery on in the car. im not electrician but while car off id expect to see battery around 12.6+ volts and when running somewhere between 13.5-14.2 volts. you can also try to turn headlights and stuff on while cars off and measure the voltage of...
The obivious place where i can find the goo is on the tip of the injectors while the car has been unused longer periods. It has never made zero issue but something iv noticed. My car sits over winters.Best spark plug iv had with 10.5:1 compression has been BR10ES ngk plugs. nothing under that...
I have been using this redline additive as its pretty cost efective.
Redline alchol-siThere seems to be also new redline product called redline alchol fuel lubricant wich im looking to try soon as i get my hands on to it
Redline alcohol lubricant
Old altenator could very well be toast. Our exhaust manifolds literally fry altenators and they stop functioning while getting hot in the car yet work again once cooled off.
Yeah i paint for living. Just get clear coat spray rattle can that has socket on the bottom. Once you pull there it mixes the hardener in the bottle and is ready to go.
It really does not need to be "heat resistant" color for valve cover. just go to any car paint shop and buy correct color and use 2k clearcoat on top of this base. The 2 component clear coat is the most important part when painting valve cover, you can even get this as spray paint clear but...
Sem tintable vinyl paints have huge color books to find the color from. Just find leggit sem paint dealer that mixes sem paints and take your part with you. You will get the code for this SEM vinyl paint too. Atleast in europe sem vinyl paints are absolutely the best you can get for painting any...
As a car painter i can also confirm that theres is simply no pain that will keep rust away if there is any to begin with.
You can use any kind of wash or rust primers but its just aid to keep it out of sight longer.
+1 to valve seals. Once there is more rpm this would not be so much issue but if its only idle itd be more prone to do it. If its not losing significant amount of oil tho it does not sound much of an issue yet. Checking out PVC valve is ok and that the valve cover breathing house is open too.
I was wondering why Fp turbo inlet housings are made they way they are.
You have like this "flange" that is 1/2" wide and there is no kind of edge to grab your intake pipe on to.
I mean they are great turbos but when ever taking out the intake pipe its pain in the ass to position it exactly...
Reliable boost gauge would be the easiest way to confirm that there is no issue with the turbo withouth having to take the exhaust side of the turbo off to look at the wastegate itself. Most of time the loss of power would obiviously be not getting correct boost in turbo car. Id start with...
Actually sticking up open wastegate or badly cracked housing around the flap could very much cause no power. Do you have reliable boost gauge to check if your really getting boost correctly? also simple things like checking that your turbo has not made it loose and is sitting tight on manifold...
I did not read everything but in my experience most important things to check at the beginning is zero air leaks and that the throttle body is set up exactly correctly and you maf and o2 sensor are working properly. After this setting up correct injector settings to dsm link should give stable...
Yes im running ethanol compatible lines and there is no black goo. However there honey colored goo after standing for a while so thats just ethanol goo itself. You prolly get some coloration from some part of the line added to this wich makes it appear as black. Prolly not much issue unless...
I think first thing I'd do is to check leaks and the pedal rod adjustment, press the slave cylinder in with your hand. You need to adjust pedal rod till you can't push the slave in and then back off till you can push the slave in by hand. This gives you max pedal trush. If after this there is...
Iv been thinking about the benefits vs annoying stuff when building e85 motors. Id like to hear personal experiences with it.I can start with mine. Its superior good stuff for cars that are mostly build for power and not daily drivers. Iv been using it prolly for last 8 years in my dsm and iv...
Hi!
Im having weird problem with cold start oil pressure. Car idles fine, my electrical aftermarket oil pressure gauge reads normal but suddenly drops few seconds to zero and back to normal. Dummy light does not come on however. It happens couple of times until engine is warm and wont happen...
That sound pretty damn odd. Car is freerolling normally nothing feels like dragging? Can you drive car normaly with driving part thortle only to get higher speeds and use third/fourth gear normally?
Thanks but i live in eu. I have one 1g spare steering gear that i have not investigated if its similar or not. I will prolly pull down the steering gear and try to figure out how to fix it. Seems like 25 old car is finally starting to show some age this year
Hey. Does anyone know if 1g and 2g share any parts like steering gear pipe that runs fluid to passanger side? Mine is now mostlikely cracked as its leaking. I think there is no oem number for this pipe so either need correct used oem pipe or diameter of pipe and fittings size. Thanks!
Make sure you are getting correct voltage on battery while your car is "idling". Do you know is number 1&4 out or 2&3? You need 14v @ battery while car is on (altenator). I think ptu grounds trough its mount so make sure grounds are good+ engine grounds and coils are working. I had exact same...
I use 1-5v narrowband signal on front o2 pin and ground in the last pin that states sensor ground. You can replace rear o2 sensor pin for wideband signal and use sensor ground pin for grounding if you just want to monitor. Ecmlink has good insturctions! Remember to calibrate your readings to...
Mainly interested in build motors. There is alot of things to go wrong or right and maintenance but im interested in general how long ppl can keep their morors running on different setups.
My own experience is that lack of oil in e85 is wearing honing marks in cylinder walls. Like its too dry. This is only my 2nd ethanol motor so im not too experienced with this subject and this is reason im using additive with e85. I also think its better to run higher oil temps while using e85...
Thats too fast maybe to be a lifter. Definately could be something like pcv valve ball jumping around if spring is gone. Try to ear it down as it mostlikely comes outside of engine and does not sound like anything internal! It actually sounds almost like spark jumping out of wire but you...
Im running only e85. I think it would be impossible to run high comp motors with normal fuel and make reasonable power out of it boosted. There is really big difference in timing charts going past 10:1 but there is also alot of torque to be gained at lower boost levels. Smaller turbos would be...
Boost is a nice thing. My orginal goal was 24 psi but my clutch cant take more than 520nm currently.I think high comp motors could be really nice with somewhat smaller turbos.
Update.
So far good with heat shield installation. Been driving car for couple of weeks and no problems. Only thing that is bad with mounting headshield only from ps pump is that it does vibrate when revving engine 4k rpm here. Will make another support point to headshield.
I would like to hear ppl experiences with lifespan of tuned motors in dd with mods and how many miles driven. My current motor is:
E85 10.5:1 wiseco hd
Fp green @18psi
Liquimoly 10w-60 full syntethic.
Bs delete and pretty high oilpressure (105psi @7krpm)
10000 miles on daily driving.
No...
Yep! Timing gets fancy with high comp motors on e85. Before i was running almost as much timing i wanted on 8.2:1 but after tossing in 10.5:1 im pretty much down under 15 at just 18 psi.
Heya!
Whats your intake for removing catalytic converter? I was running 3" catalytic converter got tired of it as i was thinking its pretty worn out and restricting after it has been under car for 3 years. i was pretty suprised how much lower end torque this removal made (pretty noticiable). I...
Helicoils been working great on repairing fp turbo to manifold threads. No more thread pulling what so ever anymore. Also love them when working with aluminium threads that has failed from overtorquing
Thats pretty big goal :thumb: Im running 10.5:1 compression with 272 kelfords and fp green at 18 psi e85 (under 400whp). Im pretty sure you would need so large turbo and high boost that car would be pretty limited usecase. Keeping head from lifting and drivetrain upgrades would need to be pretty...
Sound like a plan :) i got my new altenator today and installed. Only problem was that even it was same number than my last one it had too wide mounting point so i had to use some spacer there. Mostlikely i have now 2 working altenators as i was dump and noticed cicared lighter only receives...
I had exactly same issue 2 years ago when i went 10.5:1 compression on e85. Only thing that really fixed the problem for me was going much colder plug when my dyno guy told me to. Car is happy with br10es here.
Yes. Those are actually better than orginal as they cover the whole wire. I did some retesting and installed new regulator yesterday in this unit but voltage remained at 13.2. I was pretty sure it would fix but nope.Hopefully new alt will be here in few days.
Starting from beginning could be good idea. Checking mechanical timing is correct. Measure battery voltage. Id unplug injector wires and take plugs out and crank the motor to see if spark is ok while plugs are hanging(need a friend). If this checks out ok id look in to fuel issue like fuel...
Im running aftermarket fans as space between turbo is really a problem. I would not worry missing 1 mount tho. That radiator is a beast and will cool way more than enough with any fan you put on it.
