Wondering if you ever solved this problem because I am smoking like crazy did a Blt, changed turbos, and comp. test 160 across the board and I am still smoking like crazy.
Its just the back brackett that acts as a heat shrink. The whole thing itself dosent have to be put on the chassis. As long as the transistor is screwed on to the bracket your good.
Okay guys so i figured it out i didnt bleed my lifters. I put my head on then tightened down my cams which pushed the valves open into my 1 and 4 pistons and vent those valves then cranked my motor over and bent my others. Got it all replaced and its good now. Thank you guys for all your help.
Its a 96 so i do not have the cam angle sensor on the side i have it underneath the cam gear. I cant post pics of my timing marks but its 100 % perfect. I didnt bleed my lifters would that make me bend valves?
Well i turned it over by hand and it was fine also i did not bleed the lifters because i did not know that you had to do that. The reason the motor was torn apart was to replace the hg and arp studs
Okay so i have a 96 gsx and I just had the motor torn apart. When i put the head back on i followed the correct procedure i aligned my cams with dowel pins straight up pulled them together. Then put the belt on zip tied the belt to the cam gear. Ran it down around my oil pump left the crank...
+ 1 on the AFPR. Reason being you say you want 300 now next will be 350 then 400 and it goes on and in lol. So while your upgrading might as well do it now.
I know that the transmission fluid has nothing to do with the clutch but its not clutch issue. Its an issue with the transmission if it was a clutch issue it would it would do it all the time.
Oh ok then your just low on transmission fluid cause when it gets warmed up the fluid is really thin. As for your overheating issue look at your coolant now are you losing coolant does it have oil in it?
Pull out your dipstick if it looks milky then you have a blown head gasket. As for the transmission problem i dont think that is related. Does the clutch engage and disengage? Was the transmission and clutch fine before you replaced your water pump?
Well fans would just be a bonus anyway since your tearing it all apart IMO you should throw in some aftermarket fans to really help pull some air thru the radiator since it now has to pull thru your big fmic lol
I dont think its the thermostat because if it was boiling over that means it was cycling to fast and the water wasn't getting cooled down. Keep us posted so you can keep boosting happy lol
Could have just got cranky since it has only did it once. It is a dsm lol. Did you have the ac on? A good way to check the water pump is to rev it up a little when it starts to overheat if it cools back down the water pump is usually the suspect.
I would investigate the timing belt a lot more. It shouldn't have jumped timing but it could have. I would make sure that all pulleys and belts are tight.
Check your injectors first thing since the check engine light is flashing it means its an internal issue. But since you said its been using a lot of gas could be an issue with the injector
pulse.
Hey man first of all that motor is not out of a gsx that is a 420a not 4g63. Look up a wiring diagram for the 420a headlights and radiator fan but I would say probly a bad relay.
