The car had a short in it that kept killing the car when i'd drive it a few feet. It ended up being a short somewhere else, but he cut the loom where the fan wires run along the radiator to the huge harness of wires by the fuse box to check for a grounded wire there also...i wonder if maybe he...
1998 Eclipse Spyder GS Automatic NON TurboI've been having cooling issues since i got my car back from a short wire incident...thing is, the car never got this hot. I noticed my fans weren't kicking on so i switched the ECT (Engine coolant temp sensor) After that, the fan kicks on but only...
OP did you ever find out what the issue was with the rad fan not coming on? Im having very similar issues with mine as well. I have a multimeter and i'll be checking things also.
HWY 100 is for the Paul Walker undercover cops who get done watching F&F and drive out with a mission to get every street racer with an I/H/E...and the Paul Walker kids who want to live the "10 seconds im free." Vin diesel line...sadly just to find out half of them never will and all their money...
I was thinking of just getting my GS Spyder rims recoated with chrome since the clear coat was peeling a bit now anyways...do you know any good local shops that will do them nicely?
My GS Spyder needs the front strut towers redone...anyone done this before and would like to do them for me at a fair price or have gone to a good reputable shop they can stand behind for me to go to? I need to get it done before winter...I don't want the whole thing cut out for Camber/Caster...
WTF what the? That was from way left field lol...I, too, just aquired a 98 Spyder N/T GS and whats worse, she's an auto! :( Not too bad though for our cars because they have auto turbo trannys and our blocks are better for turbo because of the displacement? Im new to all of this too...So far...
Can you guys rate the pulleys from 1 - 5 or whatever so we, in the future, will know which is best to get? I'm doing my timing belt/water pump really soon and would like to know if i should change that piece out too and with which pulley you guys recommend and why.As previously posted...
That'd be my guess to...but if they were at a light, wouldn't the car be in the Drive position? Question is, can the car roll while in Drive? maybe its stuck in the Neutral position when he/she tried to shift it around? Odd though but in reverse or any gear, the car wouldn't roll correct? I...
Are the rear upper control arms known to go bad on our vehicles? I blew my LR strut the other day...the strut literally broke off the strut top mount. That made my ass end slide up. Check it out! BTW a blown strut doesnt have to leak to be bad...mine didnt leak at all and they were shot!
Make sure its grounded properly? Maybe your ignition control module took a shit? not sure if your car has one but you can take it off and bring it in to any parts store to get it tested for free. they should be able to check it for you.
Ok thanks. What do you mean my the top trays? I'll be looking to do this swap out in my GS soon. I want the wood grain look. It looks way better and more professional.
Welcome to the board bud. Im new too and i'll post pics of my current also...got my 2g GS Spyder recently for free from my older sis which brings me to this board. Cheers and happy tuning!
Hey board. Old Honda/Acura tuner back in the days (pre-fast and furious). Quit the game for a long time. Got a 2g Eclipse GS Spyder auto from my sister for free so i started fixing it up and slowly getting back into the scene again... Too much money so thinking bout keeping her stock atm...
Which part exactly is the HVAC? Does that stand for Heater ventilation air control? Just a guess...so the one missing would be the heater control knobs and speed right? I'm going to do this too...probably all in amber though for the Gauge cluster.
Ok thanks for the responses guys! This will definatly be my next mod...btw, does the shifter (automatic) work just the same as the Eclipse and are they interchangable? I broke the cruise control button on mine trying to take it apart to switch out the black plastic PRD12 cover :P That buttons...
Sweet! What about the two big plastic portions at the bottom where the center console mounts on top of? It looks like those are vented and the original eclipse ones aren't. Would i have to replace both of those and each side also or would the Eclipse ones work as well? There are a...
Im not sure if the OP is still on this forum but i love the look of this and i want it in my car too! So from what ive read, youd have to swap out the Sebring dash out and the center console in order for this to work even if you already have a black dash? I can't really tell the difference...
If you can get a kit together for the 2g Id be interested. About how much did you spend for all the interior bulbs you switched out shipped? Also, so as stated earlier, every lit bulb is accounted for for the interior except for the climate control lights? Or did you already figure that out...
I just replaced my plugs and wires all NGKs on my GS Spyder auto N/A. No transmission slippage, just slow, sluggish acceleration at cold starts and initial first driving/warm up...its as if it has to warm up then operate correctly. Are all Eclipse this way? Almost like it has to build up...
Any good alignment shop would check your front end to make sure you don't have any loose/worn parts before they even attempt to do an alignment. If it has bad parts, you're doing an alignment for nothing. They should decline to do your alignment because as soon as you move off that rack, the...
Keep this up! This happens to mine at cold starts, it seems to do it only after sitting all night. When i start it up and drive off, it feels like theres no power or i really have to step on the gas to get it to go...when it does, it feels like it has to build up power or warm up for it to...
So it cost you 60 bucks for paint and labor to get it coated? Did you do it yourself or sent it in to a shop? Looks nice but easter does come in mind lol.
Are these prone to go bad at a certain mileage or should you just visually check for wear/tear? I'm at 130k on my Spyder and would like to know more info on these also. Thanks!
I was trying to make an account with DSM Trader for parts these past few days and the Registration image doesn't ever seem to load so i can finish the application...is anyone else having this problem or know if the site is no longer available? Thanks!
Thanks for the link Delta. Im sure that'll help out alot of 2.4 liter non turbo guys in the future! I am new to DSM and never liked them honestly until i got this GS Spyder for free from my sister. It runs nice so i thought i'd fix it up. The car has been a nightmare honestly soo far. It...
There are 2 gears behind the back of the headlight assemblies. Park your car on a flat even surface, pop the hood, adjust the one closest to the radiator for up and down and the one closest to the fender for left and right. For the up and down, you should see a bubble that you'll match up...
Whenever dealing/working with AC, always make sure youre in a clean area with clean rags etc...anything getting into your lines/system will just be a total waste. Thats why good shops charge soo much for AC rebuilds etc ### it takes alot of time to do it right the first time. Even if changing...
How much did this all end up costing you and what did Napa charge to redo the head? Just curious to know as will have to do a water pump/timing belt change soon :P Good to hear it wasn't anything major too!:thumb:
Sorry for gettin all this drama on here but there were some nice info from some posts. As far as the timing belt/water pump installation, can you ### link it for the 2.4 liters as im not able to find any for ours...Yes, i am looking for general information for these 2.4 liters and not the...
I've noticed theres little to no love for our 2.4 liter non turbo engines. Being that there was only 18% of them made, i know finding information on them is a real pain in the ass...Ive done alot of searches on the 2.4 like timing belt/water pump changes etc and it seems to always be a dead...
I have a feeling you didnt follow the directions on the SeaFoam bottle...they're there for a reason. Too much SeaFoam isnt good for any vehicle at any mileage. The detergents in the product is designed for a certain amount. Dumping the whole can into the vaccum line can cause all sorts of...
What type of thermostat did you use? Temperature rating on it? I've seen new thermostats fail too. Also, i had this similar problem on my 240sx with the system bubbling over and not keeping cool, ended up being a headgasket :P Btw, are you having idling issues? That should tell you if you...
