Awesome guys. Thanks. Definitely put me on ease some! Could have definitely came from my past turbos (t25, 16g,20g, or hx35) i will definitely pull the splash shield and check bearings before putting the pan back on. Oh and replacing the strainer too. Thanks guys
Hello
I pulled the oil pan of my 2g to port out the oil return hole to 19mm and was alarmed to find some copper chunks stuck to my oil strainer. In the next few days I will remove the caps to check the rod and main bearings but can someone put me at ease in the meantime? :). Motor has about 30k...
It can be an issue for sure. I had a thermo gasket and the exhaust gasses melted it causing a leak. It was very simple to install a 1/8th block off plug in the port. Just annoying removing the intake manifold
What would you guys suggest. I found a huge exhaust leak at the manifold because my hx35 compressor housing is hitting the block and the water inlet banjo bolt. Do you suggest I grind it down? Is plugging it an option or is it needed?
So I found there is a bunch of exhaust leaking between the turbo and exhaust manifold. I should have done my due diligence and belt sanded both surfaces. I will definitely have to look into that wastegate too. When I put my hand under the little wastegate exhaust pipe I can feel exhaust leaking...
Hey! Think I can remove tye external wastegate temporarily and install a blockoff plate? To see if I can hear turbo spool? Its a VTA with the 2 bolt flange.
Thanks! I completed my little boost leak tester so as soon as I get home today I will check for leaks, and check the BOV to see if its stuck open. I think a BLT would show this as well. Thanks guys. I will report back. I'm hoping the turbo isn't bad. But I think I would see something like smoke...
Thanks for the reply. I will add checking the mbc vac line diagram to my checklist for tomorrow. Is there a chance the turbo is no good even though there is no smoke or chatter? I don't even hear blow off if I rev it from the throttle body like I did with my 20g. I think its a little more than a...
Hi everyone,
I am jumping ahead of myself but I would like to know if my issue is tuning related or mechanical.
I purchased a few parts off of someone on the classifieds since I cant afford them new!
I purchased and installed:
JM Fab race version intake manifold - that replaced my evo 3...
The click comes from under the hood? If so its most likely starter. If not its probably the starter relay in the car you hear clicking. My 95 awd I bought had the clutch switch button missing so it wouldnt kick over. Worth checking by your clutch pedal for the switches and make sure they...
Hey Thanks for getting back to me. You are correct. I didnt need the intermediate shaft. I was trying to install the shaft with the axle still attached and appearently the shaft was not fully sliding into the transmission. I guess the weight and length of both parts together threw off my...
Hi guys after searching for 3 days now I cant find an answer to my issue.
I have a 95 talon awd I picked up and still building. I have a 98 awd m/t trans rebuilt and a 4 gear diff installed. I have no ac bracket but I bought the spacer for the bolt. I am trying to install my 1995 intermediate...
Hey guys,I either dont know the proper terminology or I didnt do a thorough search but I cant find an answer for this issue.
I bought an AWD Talon that was at the beginning stages of being parted out and one thing that was parted was both fuel sending units. These are very hard to find but I...
Agreed. Thanks. I figured it wouldnt be an issue especially because the motor, harnesses, and ecu are all coming out of the same car. This leads me to my next question.. The car is a 95, I was told it is OBD1 but it has an OBD2 connector under the dash. Are emissions going to be done with the...
My next question is the MPI and MFI relays are different between the 95 and 96. The 95 had the one solid relay pictured below but the 96 had the two seperate relays. Would I be ok swapping these or will something get screwed up when I try and start the car? I guess the 95 was OBD1 even though it...
Hey, Thanks for the quick reply. I am 50% complete removing the harness from the 96 so I will know soon. Im hoping I dont need any modifications since I am using the harness, engine, and CPU from the same car. Would you happen to know if I will have some kind of ABS/AWD/ or other warnings on...
An update to this post:Race bearings are installed and this block is from a 95 so I dont think it is a split thrust. If someone can show me a picture I will happily check.
Hey guys,I was going to start building a new long block but decided to restore my original one instead.Up for grabs is a freshly machined 7bolt from a 2G Talon 121k miles. Craddle and ARP main studs also included.
Bored .20 over. Asking $450.00

Hey guys, Ive searched and searched but there were no specific results to my question. I have a 96 Talon TSI, FWD M/T non ABS and I bought a 95 Talon AWD M/T with ABS shell that I plan to build from my 96 talon.
I need to know if I can use my entire Engine harness from the FWD Talon for the AWD...
When i bought my fp manifold bolts from stm they came with standard washers. I torqued to spec then ran it on the highway torqued them again and when cold verified the torque was still good.
Here it is. The clearance of the center slot in the original TB is about8mm to allow that metal bracket to fit whereas the center slot in the s90 is about 7mm. I'm hoping that little bracket thing can be removed.
Here is a photo of the lever in the middle of the FIAV Assy and the s90 where it is supposed to seat. Did I receive the wrong throttle body or something?
Reviving this thread hope its ok. I have a quick question. I am also trying to mount my FIAV assembly to the s90 but there is a little lever in the fiav that is not allowing it to seat on the s90. Is there a way I can remove it or cut it down to fit on the throttle body? Im stuck on this one. I...
I just did mine this weekend. I finally got a compressor off craigslist, went to home depot bought an NPT fitting for 1.00, 2" pvc cap 2.00. Slowly cranked it up to 25psi. 3 couplers, one vac line and boost gauge in my pillar leaking.
Awesome. Thanks for getting back to me. I see by reading the wiki the Hz will be in the 600 range. I will switch to 3.5" right now fix the TPS, and try to bring the CombinedFT in check. Im home today so I can try to get it done. Ill post a new log right after. Thanks again
Yes a boost leak is a most. I was banging threw gears once and blew a coupler off my intercooler. Fortunately easy to find but my car wouldn't start either. You might have a significant vac leak.
