yea. it modifies the cam and crank signal to retard timing. You can modify the MAP offset map as if it was an SAFC in order to advance timing as well as clamp the Map. It has direct injector control as well as aux input for a wideband. It also has 2 other aux inputs that can offset/modified...
I've ran the AEM fic on 3 "420a"-based setups (2 neons and 1 avenger) and have had good results. the 1910 will throw a CEL for injector circuit (no injector resistance seen at the ecu), but IIRC the 1913 has the circuit to load the ecu as if injectors were present. Very good piggyback system imo...
The AEM FIC can do exactly what the SAFC can do. Have you even looked into the MAP maps? all the SAFC does is modify the map signal.... nothing else. The AEM FIC can also adjust the map sensor (along with all the other things like direct injector control, timing control, etc.)
Personally, If I was to run ITB's on a 420a, I'd run a neon head instead of the 420a head so the intake is in the front and the exhaust manifold spends the least amount of time under the hood.ManticSHadow, good find!
Think of it this way: stock TB has ~2124mm2 surface area. four 44mm itb's have a total surface area of ~6082mm2.
ITB tuning is an art form. You'll also have to tune load base on alpha-n (tps%-based load) instead of speed density (manifold pressure) or MAF (total air flow). I'm am not well versed...
lmfao. That is no way to set-up a car.... FMU, Non stock MAP, no tuning? very shitty way and NO shop should be doing that. They're doing that because they have NO CLUE how to tune a car
well when kids are borrowing their parent's credit card to pay for crap for a car their parents bought/signed for, 6k rpm clutch drop launches along with generally thrashing the crap out of the car will take a toll. That being said, the 6 speeds are stronger
yea..... I've seen bone stock mid 90's impreza 5-speed trans hold 500+whp without issue. Hell, I have a buddy with a ~350whp EA in his brat that has a stock dual range transmission
the 5rib trans i have has held up pretty well (I'm only on 10psi tho). the 3 rib that was in it before dropped 3rd gear so the 5rib went in. The best OEM vw option seems to be the 6rib, but that is hard to find. I think kennedy can build ya a 4g to Ej adapter, but that would mean mid-mounting...
Nice set-up! Awesome to see more 4g63's in vw's. I have a 4g63t w/16g mated to a stock 5-rib in my sandrail. I'm using a Zj jeep grand cherokee radiator as it seemed to fit the space better. Keep it up
300+whp has been done more than a couple times on 99% stock shortblocks (ARP ls1 rod bolts and head studs). I'd recommend an AEM FIC. If you are lucky you might be able to find a pnp megasquirt that was created on a trial run over on neons.org.These are ECB's i've had, but are basically...
I've heard rumors that dsmlink (older ones like v2) still have some type of "fuel cut" parameter built in related to maf overrun. I was wondering if anyone has any solid facts or experiences with this.
Quick question: 1g, DSMlink v2.5. If the speed sensor is disconnected from the ecu, will the ecu read "0" mph? As in, If the VSS is disconnected, will link still allow anti-lag? I dont have the vehicle close to me or I'd just run down and disconnect the VSS at the ECU
Everything in. Tracking down a small boost leak - thinking its a cap-off on the intercooler. New timing cover on. Conservative timing tune on 10psi. Ill get a vid and pics soon
My friends 2g gst i tuned we were seeing ~ 95% idc's on 1000's and a 255 to achieve 12.2 afr's at 28-29psi on a 35r estimated close to 475-490whp. On low boost (20psi) idc's were in the mid 70's. This was with a stock fpr
I was having issues with one of the lines for the turbo coolant so I just bypassed running coolant to the turbo. The o2 housing on the 14b was being a pain in the ass so I scrounged around in my garage until I found another o2 housing from one of the few dsm's I've had before. I got her all...

I'll have the 16g and injectors in this weekend with a decent tune on wastegate boost. I hope my new gauge box comes in soon so I can mount the wideband gauge. I might get enough time tonight to get the 16g and injectors in
ok, I got dsmlink in and the connector soldered. I zero'd out the previous tune and BAM! it runs perfect. Purrs like a kitten. I have the seats and a half shaft out so I couldnt run it around the block. I think the old ecu was bad (caps?).
After a couple idling and revving datalogs I noticed...
IIRC you can mid-mount vw trans and run them backwards with certain engines. I havent messed much with old skool veewee tech so I'm still researching stuff. My wife's family has a reunion in a couple months up in the mountains and her uncles and brothers always bring their quads, so I'm wanting...
DSMlink came today. I have to cut the data port out of my parts car and splice it into the harness the previous owner taped up in the rail so I can access the ecu. I'm rewiring and tuning my buddy's Hy35 Rb20 s14 at the same time so I'm bouncing from project to project.Dave: I love your buggy...
Just ordered dsmlink v2.5, lc1 wideband, 750cc injectors, nxs(sp?) mbc, ebay 16g, new gauge box, new stub axle (passenger side had 2 snapped bolts), new oem front torsion bars, and some towing lights. Parts should start arriving on friday :)
in gasoline applications, yes. In factory diesel applications they use cast iron a bunch as the exhaust gases are cooleranyways, here is the horrendous weld. It is on a rare 11cm exhaust housing hx52. The footprint was a wacky trapezoidal shape. Ordered a cast t4 flange and t4-t3 adapter...
hell i've welded stainless steel to cast iron with a crap harbor frieght flux core mig. It was on a turbo I ran ran for over a year (till I sucked a rock in at 50+psi). I'll snap a pic. fyi It looks like crap but it held
if you use a hard rubber or soft brass hammer and evenly set the rear main with even taps, you should be good. I've never had an issue with that method. U make sure the spring is still in it?
you most likely used the "factory service" diagram about how to apply the red anaerobic sealant between the bedplate and the block. It is actually wrong and shows to apply on the inside of an oil passage near the oil filter when in fact you need to go around the entire passage.
First time I...
precision used to use garrett center sections then a deal fell thru with garrett and now they're using no-name centers. Also their customer service is a joke. I've either ran, tuned, or known people running precisions with similar results lately (blown up, nuts backing off, bearing failure with...

AEM FIC (piggyback fuel and ignition controller),
srt4 stage 0 fuel injectors.
Ebay turbo kit is fine, just make sure you have the proper sized oil feed restrictor and your oil return comes into your oil pan above the oil level. Lately, ebay chinachargers are...
nickle rod stitch weld. My buddy has done that to a couple 53 block 24v cummins that had block casting issue. Zero issues in 7+ years and 60+psi boost. Hell, he welded the one in his personal truck with the longblock still in the truck
good question..... it didnt have any timing covers on it when I got it. the top one is off the parts cars. I'll eventually put the covers on once I get it running rightmore pics: EngineTurbo manifold/Maf set-upintercoolerintake/GM maf pipingEcu/fuses (behind seat in an...
Ok, now I have too many toys. I just traded a 95 zj jeep and another 4g63 stroker for this little rail. Already has a 6 bolt 4g63 swap, stage 2 kennedy clutch, 5-rib bus trans and a BSE kit. Not too sure if anything else in the engine has been upgraded.
I got it running like crap with no maf and...
I think there needs to be a new "measurement" that can be standardized by direct physical dimensions, kinda like the cm3 that most of the standard "diesel" performance companies use for their turbos.
we're in the 21st century.... something needs to be standardized so it can directly be compared...
what is your reasoning for needing a -12an return on a holset? I've ran -10an on my holsets on my cummins, heck I even ran two -10an's that Y into a single -10an on a hx40/Ht3B compound set-up I had on it for 2 years. No issues or smoking. turbos still had minimal shaft play when I sold the kit
I believe that you have a wide block 4g (dsm's have a "narrow" block, referring to the bellhousing bolt pattern) so I would stick with that block. I would talk to the guys over on mightyram50.net as they have a plethora of info on just your situation
Honda guy? ok. I've been building ECC and ECB neons for over 10 years, before megasquirt was even on the radar. I have been tuning cars on e85 for over 8 years (Nistune, Hondata, Link, AEM, EFIlive, Motec, HPtuners, etc.) and I have more than a few toys to tinker with.... Just because I'm...
