Key words there are "prep work" not the paint or primer itself. One of the best things you can do is paint over your factory stuff if it is not faded completely or flaking itself. If your changing the color, just scuff, 1-2 primer/sealer coats, and then base and clear.I don't know where...
Do you know how much power you even have right now? I would start there, and as above mentioned to basic maintainence and find out if your car is tuned for power, with those mods and a safc, I think our missing out a lot.
ABS and SRS(safety restraint system, I think) are different systems. One malfunctioning will not set the other off, if you have an ABS light on then stick to the brake system for your problem. Before you go searching for a turbo set up, or a BOV set up, or anything really you first and most...
The 2G BOV is also plastic, where as the 1G is metal and just all around better. If you plan of modding the car at all in the future invest in the very least a 1G valve. You will need new upper intercooler pipeing though, as the 1G mounts differently to the pipe.I know someone who shaves...
This. I don't see where a working crank sensor can or would cause a mpg problem. He sounds shady to me, mechanic? Not so sure about that. You don't diagnose a car based loosely on what you think or have heard other peoples cars have done or didn't do.Make sure all your routine maintaince is...
The size of the fuel pump wont "overrun" your injectors, some say it will overrun your stock pressure regulator, but your injectors are controlled by the ecu, and like previous folks have said running larger injectors without a tune solution, is causing all kinds of problems with your car, even...
A flashing CEL means possible damage to your cat's, so maybe it was not rod nock that messed up your engine. Unless your set up only flashed for when the knock sensor detected knock. They are fairly sensitive though, and the correct torque when installing them is critical, to much and its...
There are many places to send them to get them tested. You can check with some local shops to see if they do it, or google this topic and see where a close shop that does this is. Its always a good idea to have your injectors tested and cleaned so they can properly work.
^ This. If you have not already messed something up from running way to much fuel. Your ECU does not know the size of the injectors, so putting on larger ones your ecu goes nuts trying to dial them back to get your a/f ratio to what it needs to be. But it cant because the larger injectors have a...
A GST and GSX are the only models that came with a turbo, but, with money and time you can turbo any one of them. If your all hung up about a 6 bolt swap you will need something 93+, or just get a 1GA with a 6 bolt in it.
Do a correct boost leak first, find your leaks and fix them accordingly, no need to start jumping into needing bigger injectors.... You mention nothing of a larger turbo, or any other mods that may require additional parts.
You have checked all your fuses to make sure nothing else was damaged? Also, most tuning systems get reset when the battery has been disconnected, do you have a way to reload the tune? I am not familiar with that particular tuning software, but I would start there.
Ive sprayed entire cars with 3/4 gallon of not that good paint. Your color and prep will have a lot of effect on how much you will use. If your changing the entire color, then youll need a good bit like mentioned above. If the car was just recently clear coated and is in good condition...
I know the race well, read about it many times. It does sound like loads of fun. As far as the rules go, can you change any parts that break during the race? If so, its would be better to just run with the turbo and have a back up IF anything was to happen to it. They can be just as reliable as...
Agree, you need to recirc that BOV valve. Even if you "think" its not causing a problem, it most certainly is. How do you even know how much boost you are running? Your not going of the stock gauge are you?You need to slow down before you go try to get a hp number, get the car at the very...
You said your racing a 1G therefore, you can do a 4g63 n/t swap in there. The 2G with the 420 n/t you cant. the low compression and the awd with no turbo would be horribly slow. Not a good idea for a race car.
With wes again, you cant use turbo parts for your non turbo 2G. You want to turbo your car you should look into a lot of reading and learning, as all this has been done before.Your best bet is to find a used 420a and build it up while you drive your car as is. Once it is done and ready...
I agree with Wes, why use a "cheater" device like an safc when you are fully capable and able to do a ECU swap that works great and gives you all kinds of options. This seems silly.
I was going to suggest the same as colt, your pics don't show any kind of prep work. I hope its just miising from the details. Or you will be redoing is very soon.
