I am glad I found this thread. I was tempted to buy this car to save it, but having two already, and 5 other cars, couldn't do it. Glad it went to capable hands.
What was holding the compression arm on if both the rear mounting bolts were broken?I have not looked at this in a long time, so I have to ask if the rear compression arm bolts are threaded into the front crossmember or the body? If they thread into the crossmember, you may be able to...
It does not sound like you are charging correctly. you say you pressurized it one final time. With what and how?
How did you pull the vacuum? What does "let some pressure" mean? What does "took some pressure out" mean? How did you add oil afterwards? Normally this must be poured into the...
It is more than a spacer. If you look at the shape at the base of the nose of the starter you will see that it fits tightly into that plate. The hole in the plate locates the gear on the starter at the proper location to engage the flywheel correctly. Even if you open up the holes, the...
No they will not. The inner tie rod will spin its ball joint, but the outer cannot rotate installed (without lengthening or shortening) and definitely not with the jam nut tight.
Is it loose? It should rotate but not move side to side or up and down. It does appear to be leaking the grease, and water entry will eventually corrode the ball joint and wear it out quickly. Thus it does need replacement, but check the movement to see how worn it is.And that is referred...
Pressure test the coolant system. Worst case you may have a cracked head that puts cylinder pressure into the cooling system. That way you may not get coolant in the oil.
Not looking at my car at the moment, but if you are referring to the bracket that appears gold-ish, that can be unbolted and turned over if that is the problem. All years 1g rear AWD calipers are the same, as well as GVR4 both years.
You should never need or use any sealant, thread tape, Loctite or anything on brake lines. You need to verify if your flare fittings are correct. They should both be inverted flare type. Wrong fittings on the SS lines? Also, what is the condition of the flare nut sealing surfaces on the...
The mechanism can get gummed up from lack of use. You could try taking the top of the case off and cleaning any built up dirt and grease. Or send it to someone who can take it apart and do it. This place fixes stuff.http://hrautoradio.com/
I am picturing this (hope to be clear):A strip of material as long as the velcro horizontally, perhaps two inches wide vertically. On side A we'll call it, facing the rear, attach (sew probably) the opposite velcro surface needed to attach to the window velcro along the lower edge for the...
I think the original velcro or dual lock (can't remember which it was) is attached to the glass on one side, sewed to the headliner on the other. Adhesive will hold to the glass if installed properly. That is why I am suggesting a bridge strip to reach if the glass is lower.
You should definitely not sew anything to the cover, as any penetration will create a hole in the rubber membrane that lines the canvas and provide a water path.Is the velcro to attach the headliner on the window and just too low to catch the headliner fully? I would suggest making a bridging...
There should be no ABS/non-ABS variation or A/T M/T variation as mentioned above. On Rock Auto, if not going OEM, I would use Timken (513157) or Beck Arnley (0516121) personally.
When does the sound occur? My daughter used to have a 97 GST Spyder and it rattled over small vertical inputs. It turned out to be knocking from the ball joint in the compression arm on one side.
Have to align hone, or the bores are not round anymore. You sure he did not mean 20 thousandths (0.020" or 0.05 mm)? Two thousandths is not a normal cut at all.
Anything over 3000 lbs requires trailer brakes. U haul trailers may have hydraulic surge brakes (the cargo trailers do, not sure about the car trailers). I have pulled both open and enclosed trailers with my Ram. I moved four cars last year with an open aluminum trailer and really liked how...
The Euro spec 2g 4G63 cars were 2.0 NA as mentioned, with a higher compression ratio. That engine was not used in the US that I recall.I would definitely look at the MAF and/or the wiring, as 2 of those 3 codes are for sensors contained in the MAF itself.
If you don't have the tool to cut the butyl rubber holding the window in it is difficult. You may want to ask a glass company how much to take it out for you.Or, I have heard of people using wire (like piano wire) to saw through and remove it, but you have to either cut or drill a spot for...
I attempted this a few years ago by keeping the stock power transistor (what fires our coils based on ECU trigger) in the circuit and trying to use it to fire the transistor in the 3-wire Endeavor coils I was using. Could not get it to work, but I am not very smart with electrons, at least in...
Need some finished pics of assembled car after the paint.I am in Bloomington if you need any parts. I need to clean up the garage, and I have two GVR4s.PM me if interested.
I recommend you get center caps from the either the late 3g or 4g eclipse. They fit differently, and stick out a bit, but snap in and don't use any metal clips to rust. I like the 4g style that have the chrome three-diamond.
Actually measure with a VOM at the positive battery terminal to ground with the car running to see the actual charging voltage (in case the gauge has a problem). The regulator is inside the alternator. The fan is a different problem all together, and may be contributing in some way...
So I found this 98 Eclipse GS (unfortunately, would prefer a GST or GSX), automatic (even more unfortunately), but the car is in immaculate shape with only 61k miles. Black, but the paint is in great shape. The proverbial old lady owner who bought it new, and has kept it in a garage and...
The idea is that you need to repair the wiring to that injector properly, and not hack anything else. Go through the wiring meticulously and systematically to find your problem. A wiring issue you may have caused in your changes is not going to be something someone can fix for you over the...
Please listen to what Bogus said, and stop spreading the false information that 1g 6 bolt head bolts are TTY. They are not. That started with the 7 bolt designs. Check the service manual(s).
It should not be based on merely "views and opinions". That is why he asked you for a definition. The specific goals and usage determine which would be better for any given setup. Bogus explained it well. Not attacking here at all either, just that as mentioned, a blanket such and such is...
The lower lateral arm and compression arm are both forged components, so very tough and unlikely to bend easily. I would also look at a possible bent crossmember (the area where the lower lateral arm mounts). The compression arm can be pushed back, but this would possibly rotate the knuckle...
