Thank you for the keensert idea. I'll give that a try along with replacing the gasket. But is it normal to have soot building up on the head near the edges of the manifold with a good gasket, or is this clear indication that the gasket is no good anymore?

I'm glad I found this thread. I just put a set of E3's in my GSX last weekend thinking the more surface area for arc makes for a better performing spark plug. Reading this thread definitely changes my opinion of that. I will replace with NGK's asap. What is the difference between the bpr6 & 7's?
