Oem style and oem are different. Always oem if quality and fitment are required.

Have you checked run out on the ring gear? Or clearanced the pinion/ring teeth? Pretty easy to do with right tools. Did this just start or has it always done this? Some rear-ends seem to hum when they are slightly loaded when cruising.

You said it had an ECM Link, how is the tune? Wierd running stock injectors on 2g maf.

Short block and long block are pretty common terms, i think long block is pretty much ready to run. Might need alt/water pump/carb on alot of applications.

Your brother's car may have been flex fuel compatible. Tune, lines, injectors at least all need to be replaced. Like previously stated, it has a nice octane rating but lower energy output, so more is needed.
