they most likely built it with the best parts of both, as far as the gauge issues, it's either the fuse or the actual gauge, i doubt its the wiring, but all is easily fixable, do you have some tools? if you havent worked on cars might want to enlist help from a mechanic to do the actual work...

Yea pull that thing off and tune with link, or what ecu do you have? even cheaper is just flashing an E-prom ecu.

Are you building 6 bolt or 7bolt??cause you can use evo pistons on either but you get into wrist pin problems...

Just check your oil literally constantly or put an external sensor on it to monitor oil pressure.
