420a at and the lower ball joint let loose ripping out the cv axel which in turn smacked the xfer case causing a leak. I have since replaced everything but my question is how to fill the xfer case. On an at idk, and if it's just trans fluid? I'd like to get it back on the road.
With that being said I took it upon myself to check PVC valve, sensors, throttle body, vacuum leaks, plugs, wires, coil pack, and to no avail was still stumped. I was told perhaps the timing was off but didn't want to hear it n tried unplugging the o2 sensor. Bam, found it, replaced the o2...
only problem I have with 5% all around is being in the boonies with no lighting around making turns, side windows are fairly dark....backing up is fine for me...taillights give enough illumination if somethings in the way.
you are right, visually we found the 2 but after giving the head to the machine shop the other 2 in cyl 2 were also bent. I went ahead and had them replace the 4 valves n seals, check it, and deck it. Got it back n threw it on with a new head gasket and head bolts. Since the shop took over a...
Sure enough, ended up being the tension er pulley on the timing belt gave out, and bending valves. taking it apart now, replacing water pump, timing belt, both pulleys, replacing the two bent valves in cyl 2sorry I wasnt specific, that test was 2 months prior....once i get it together, il...
im not running diags at work, its was "left on the side of the road". update anyhow, timing belt snapped. and bent a valve in at least cyl 2.Fun times.
I got the car from my uncles shop with 118k on the dash...ive since brought that to 138k. Ive only deleted the egr and sensor the cel from that mod, did a 3inch catback, checked compression which was roughly 186 across the board when i did do it, n use mobil 1 10w30....ngk plugs r gapped i...
So my 98 talon fwd 420a was left on the side of the road this morning :(
I've replaced belts within the past couple of months, checked spark plug gaps, changed wires n coil pack n just changed to 10w30 for the summer as far as maintenance. I have jb weld on the radiator and a bad valve seal...
Looking to purchase a set of coilovers for my talon. I dont want a cheap kit that will destroy my suspension in a year, something that will last, something with alot of drop. Hopefully around the 800$ range.....Any suggestions?
for sure, about 15-20 minutes to warm up before I take offOk so I installed a new coil pack, cleaned up my plugged and regapped them to .044 and viola, Now I have the powah! Ty kindly to everyone who got involved!!
yes I know and was embarrassed to admit the weight and my lack of motivation, this endeavor is encouraging enough. I will be changing the oil to 5w30 syn n replacing coil pack if nothing else shows when getting my codes read later today.Plug gap, I cant recall.
During lunch with a little ambition and multimeter, the plug read 1ohm out of both 1 and 3 cyl and 2 and 4 cyl. However secondary resistance didnt read anything ......
Ok ty for the replies, first off I am not boosted so that can be eliminated. I doubt it would be my rings just because my compressing has been so beautiful up until last time I checked which was right before winter. I didnt really know how to go about testing my coil pack with the multimeter so...
wire swap did nothing, onto swapping a spark plug...Wish me inexpensive luck lolwell that was not the case, wire/plug swap did nothing....its always cyl 3.....so that leads me to believe replacing the coil pack will fix it ehh?
theres a significant loss of power
it sputters so horribly i dont notice shifting
when i run it n pull plugs, the 3rd cylinder kills it. 1,2,4 it keeps running but when i pull 3rd cylinders spark plug wire it dies :(
Weather has been crazy here in Ohio to say the least. Sub zero temps. I had an issue a week ago with my power steering belt and had to swap it. Now this morning on my commute to work it was chugging, and as i got to work the cel was flickering. I thought it was oil weight and I checked...
My womans sister was in the market for a car. My uncle at the time was running a shop where he had alot of cars for sale on a daily basis. I tried to get her to go to him but she went against my word and bought a car. 2 months later that very car was in my uncles shop for a bad rod. While he...
okay, now factor in those costs along with if say the head were taken off and a stage 2 ported head i bought for 50$ were surfaced and checked....do I do that....or just do the seals?
yea i dont have the greatest selection of tools but for 350, i could be buying the tools i dont have and keeping them. Thatl give the wifey a reason to okay the purchase too :D
Okay, so I have had a slow oil leak that has been burning off for months now. I have checked everything, and assumed it was a valve seal. I am getting great compression, so I did a leak down test and it leads me to believe yes it is a valve seal. It only smokes during idle around 1000 rpm's...
Ive used cans on rims sprayer on cars. The backpack however dipyourcaf.com provides. Not worth it. Stick to the little sprayer n fill more frequently. Definately beautiful for being on a budget
98 talon idles at 800-1000rpm, but after warming up and idling for 2 min or so at a train or something it will begin to overheat. Did i mention its burning oil and smokes at low idle also? thinking leaky valve seal?
Yea that is what I was assuming too was going to be the problem, but before I pulled the head off for a valve job I wanted to trouble shoot things and see if I couldnt avoid doing so, and vuala. Using Lucas oil synthetic in the oil, lucas gas treatment in a full tank of gas, then sea foaming...
Okay, I added in some lucas oil treatment yesterday and drove it for about 50 miles. I was still noticing the low rpm smoke. So I decided to run the compression test, warmed it up for about 20 minutes, unhooked the spark and fuel and came up with 170 give or take a crossed the board telling me...
Car:
98 Eagle Talon 420aSymptom:
Low RPM exhaust smokeOkay where do I start. When I bought the car, the owner mentioned it eating up oil and hadnt a clue why. I noticed a valve cover gasket was needed so I quickly did that and a compression test. 185 a crossed the board.
But oil...
I decided after changing my valve cover gasket and painting the valve cover, then oil pan gasket and painting the oil pan, Putting coilovers n shocks on n painting those, it was time to do the drums, calibers, rims. This shade of red on the lip however is a different shade. I did one rim as...
