Yeah it really should have been something I checked. I just am surprised I managed to set it off in the first place during my engine rebuild. Must not have been paying attention closely.
Hey there again,I'm still working on issues I've been facing with my 2g Auto TSI. It was running a little rough in warmer weather but since winter hit the car has really **** the bed. My timing at idle is at 15 degrees, 30 at < half throttle, and I don't know beyond that. My car is also...
So I forgot to reply to this, after I replaced my cap I haven't seen it happen since. However it hasn't been quite as hot out as it was the problem days. Comparing the two caps however my old one had very little spring tension left so I'll go out on a limb and say that's one of my issues fixed.
Yup, opened right when it was supposed to. Thinking about it the cap makes sense as being the fault, I've just never experienced a faulty cap before, gonna replace it sometime this week and see if the issue persists afterwards.
Yeah I'm kinda scared that it might be something bigger than a cap and I'll be ripping out the engine again. But I'll pressure test it this weekend and see how it holds. In terms of caps, do people generally run 13 or 16psi caps on these cars?
Sorry I didn't add, fluid is good, tested with a refractometer, haven't replaced cap, might still be OE. I'll replace it for good measure.Fans are running while car is running, as it isn't until they shut off after you shut the car down that the issue exists.
So recently it's been pretty warm around where I am (30c/86f) and I noticed an issue that I can't quite place. While I'm driving the car I seem to have no issues, the car stays at a happy operating temperature, doesn't overheat, no sign of boilover, running a good AFR.But as soon as I park the...
No tuning, just logging from the Wideband and the software I wrote. I was under the impression < 16psi wouldn't require a SAFC or a DSMLink if I'm wrong however, I'll park it until I get one.
So I'm trying to diagnose the issue here, I had a bad 14b on my car when I got it, so after my engine rebuild I put on a 16g I got instead. On the stock 2g blow off I couldn't boost at all, now I swapped for a 1g and it seems to hold awesome now but at 14psi it just stops, doesn't fire, then...
I don't think they mean trolling people by asking simple questions. There's no such thing as a bad question, but questions like this have been answered before and a quick search can bring many up.
I've checked the relay (By jumping it) and it clicks like the relay should, also the fuel pump fires if I turn the key to ON and jump the harness for the relay, so the pump isn't the issue. But with the relay connected it doesn't click or fire the pump at all. I'm new to DSM's and what/what...
So in the last month I pulled the block out and found out what was wrong...Since then I have picked up a new block and head since the old one was clearly toast.
Did an engine bay bath in the garage, and am now inspecting the block I picked up before rebuilding it to put back in the car.
Planning on doing a light 16g build, but for the initial build I'll just run off of my 14b until I gather the stuff to swap to the 16g. I have no plans to go over 300ish hp. So I don't think I should have to worry about it all too much.
Not a timing belt as the owner said that it still turns over "you just don't want it to" so I'm thinking he snapped a con rod or blew a piston, not actually a t25 though, must have swapped it to a 14b at some point.
Oh I'll definitely do gaskets for everything, I did rebuild an Integra 2 years ago and all went well but from what I can tell the Talon is a little more involved than my Integra was.
As per my profile I picked up the car a few weeks back for $650 CAD and am currently in the process of pulling the engine out as the previous owner said he blew it when trying to spool up on the highway. Other than the obvious (crankwalk, blown pistons, rods, spun bearings, etc.) is there...
There's a guy selling a Tsi FWD, offered it to me for $1000 because of a couple issues it has. What do you guys think 260k kilos on it. I can't quite tell what the issue is, someone took a video for me and I can't pick out what's making the awful sound in the video. Here's a link to it. If...
