    1990 Eagle Talon TSI

Can't believe it's been over a year since I've posted any kind of update on the talon. During that time is done alot of sitting. Recently I finally started purchasing some parts and got some sweet deals from my buddy pewpewlasers. The goals have changed again. I originally was gonna go with an...

    1G Starting issues.

Thanks for the reply. we will double check on all of the ground connections tomorrow. The car is definitely an electrical mess. I tried to use the fuel pump check connector by hooking it up directly to the battery to verify the fuel pump works and we got no power to the fuel pump. We did get...

    1G Starting issues.

Hey guy. Need some help trying to start another 1G DSM project. There a couple issues that we are battling here. So we got this car with the previous owner claiming that it had a starter grind issue. We got the car and seen that the engine harness was pretty hacked up. So we grabbed another one...

    1990 Eagle Talon TSI

Thank you! Much appreciated.Got a little more done today. I decided to try out an idea. Not completely sold on it yet. I'm torn between keeping the dash the way it is now and just deleting it all together. What do you guys think? I'd love some opinions.

    1990 Eagle Talon TSI

I wish I could of, but didn't have the cash to take the entire car. It was actually half off that day so I ended up grabbing the trans and shortblock for only $120.

    1990 Eagle Talon TSI

I also ended up taking two separate trips to two different junkyards and found some good stuff. First trip I ended up finding a non turbo 4G63 shortblock complete that looked to be in good overall condition. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a spare block so I grabbed it. The next trip...

    1990 Eagle Talon TSI

Been working on the Talon on the weekends. Trying to work out some of the bugs. I need to figure out why my brake pedal is so soft. Probably just needs to be bled out. I also am in the process of putting my interior back in. I was contemplating putting the dash back in but I decided I liked the...

    1G Shortblock diagnosis

They look fine. I tried using telescoping gauges and a caliper to measure them today but I kept getting inconsistent readings. So I'm going to grab a dial bore gauge and have another try.

    1G Shortblock diagnosis

Hey guys! I ended up making a junkyard trip yesterday and found a non turbo 4g63 shortblock. The entire engine assembly was untouched so I had to basically break down the whole engine. I first pulled the pan and found about 4-5 small aluminum chunks inside. I figured that the engine spun a l...

    1990 Eagle Talon TSI

Sure. Once I get it all buttoned up I'll post a video of how I have it ran. I know for sure that its not the textbook way to run a battery, but it does the job for now. I do have a buddy that runs the JMF small battery kit and I really like how that looks inside the engine bay. Plus you wont run...

Heres an update guys. I decided to get it running just because I miss it. Everything is explained in the video below. Should be picking this thing back up soon.

    PLX DM-6 Experiences

Looking into different widebands and came across the PLX DM-6 multi gauge. I used to have an Innovate LC-1 that worked great for my needs, but I like that the DM-6 is a multi gauge and can be used for more than one function. My only concerns are it's compatibility with DSMLink. I seen that it...

Hey guys. I need a little help fixing my fuel feed line. The bolt on my fuel filter was stripped. So I decided to cut my fuel line because I figured I'd grab a new line. After a trip to mu local junkyard. I found a Fuel feed line, but I couldn't remove the entire hard line because of the way...

    1990 Eagle Talon TSI

Got some work done with the talon. I got some of the looming started and I'd have to say it's coming out pretty nicely. Out of the entire harness job this definitely has to be the trickiest part. Trying to find ways that the harness can all go back together nice and neat.

    Catch Can Questions

I thought that slope would help draining when I would drain the can. It wouldn't be that sloped but something to help the draining process.I'm trying to find some kind of material that can be used as a filter and that won't contaminate the engine. I can't the best thing I'm seeing is steel...

Thanks a lot bud! That did help! Now as far as the 3 layer mesh baffles are they just 3 different plates or is there some kind of material used to help filter?

    Catch Can Questions

Hey guys! I have some questions that I need help answering. I want to gain a better concept of what to look for when making an effective catch can. Question on clutch install

I have some experience with the XTD stage 4. I personally would not get that clutch again. I did ask XTD for a 2600 pressure plate. I installed it and it was a lot better than the stage 4. You would just need the pressure plate, clutch disk, alignment tool, (most likely comes with the kit you...

    9!'clipseDOHC's 1g DSM build

    9!'clipseDOHC's 1g DSM build

I had a couple questions regarding how you welded up the holes in the bay. What amperage settings did you use when welding? Also what gauge wire did you use? You just threw a bead over the bolt holes right and didn't fill them? Last what gauge of steel did you tack in for the bigger holes? I...

    1990 Eagle Talon TSI

Got some more work done on the talon this weekend. Dropped the tranny. Also got most of the wires ready to cut in order to have the appropriate length. I also labeled the fuse harness and tore down most of the loom. I can see the fuse harness being more tricky just because I'm going to have to...

Is this the milspec harness connector? I would love to do that also. I was researching something's similar but the cost was just short of an arm and a leg. Lol Thanks for stopping by! Once I get all done I'm pretty sure I'll be contacting you for a tune! ;)Thanks for the subscribe!

    1990 Eagle Talon TSI

Update on the talon:I've started the wiring routing process. After laying it all out it doesn't seem to be too difficult. It's definitely a slow process. I also got around to deleting my power steering. I'm going to have to find a better way to loop the lines but I'll get to that once I pull...

Yeah the ETS elbow is stainless steel. The harness pulling can be a huge pain. I just try and stay patient. I also try not to take any shortcuts. If I get overwhelmed I just leave it for another day. It's always gonna be there.

    1990 Eagle Talon TSI

Alright guys! Here's an update on the talon! Since the spring semester had started I've been swamped with school and work. I am trying to free up some time to get to work on the talon. So sorry for the late response. I've been busy with the new semester beginning and all. Yes, the sensor on the elbow is my IAT for SD. The hose connected to both is the same as plugging them. They both suck vacuum so when their connected sucking it's basically capped. The turbine housing on my...

Thanks for dropping in! I do try to provide as much detail in my build thread as I possibly can. 1G Wire Tuck (Harness delete help)

I wrote out another diagram to show how I deleted plug A-13. I'm pretty sure this was the correct way but I'm just a little stuck on the defogger relay. I am going to delete the noise condenser which is plug C-56 since I'm getting rid of the defogger relay. Will it be fine to delete plug C-57...
