Some of the harshness is the binding, specifically on the 2-3 shift. The goal of this is longevity at mid to high power levels more than street manners though. As soon as the pressure control parts are eliminated street driving will be harsh.

It is in a public place, but not a ton of discussion. Questions? It is being tested this weekend at a race, but with a full test internal setup that doesn’t have separate timing control on the front clutch or the trans brake.

The laser did not really fit in any racing classes anymore. It had a great run, but it is time for some new challenges.

I made some really good progress over the past couple days. The cage cut and bent from the cad model is amazing compared to coping all the tubes by hand. I will never go back to that method!

The intake is an evo8 mivec cam gear. I designed and machined that fitting and drove the fuel pump off the exhaust cam in the laser, and that piece is still on it for now. This truck will be a cable drive to a fuel pump and tank in the bed.

Are you seeing this with a timing light or in a data log? The ecu tweaks idle rpm using timing. Is the timing check wire grounded? It’s been a long time since I’ve touched one, but I believe it is on the firewall.

Yes, it is auto. This is exactly it was as it left the track. It is a #6 precision converter.

Update from a week and a half ago - we have 1010whp uncorrected, or 1009whp corrected here. This is at 63-64psi, the car ran 7.942 at 179.3mph hanging the revlimiter for 0.85sec during a pass at 60psi, which was 971whp.

The base timing is set only by the crank signal, which is no longer adjustable with our sensor. This is set to the OEM angles and there is no need to set anything with a timing light, just bolt-up, wire-up, and drive. The cam sensor is just used to figure out which engine cycle / sequence is...
