speed density is just sensitive to changing conditions, not the best for daily driving. you can also get a 3g MAF, there is a specific parts number, it's the rarer 3g maf that has the highest rating, almost as high as the evo. should be able to find it in a junk yard or ebay. as for the parts...
i got a 90 gsx with a manual first one ever, it was popping out of first and second til i replaced those plastic bushings which removed the side-to-side play in the shifter, after that it was much better except i think it wore out my first gear synchros, lolwelcome to the club btw
i have an apexi, it's solid metal and not thin metal either, intake with 2g maf and 1g adapter for sale. i also have 2g exhaust manifold if your 1g is cracked like most are. msg me if you want to talk business.
first good advice is, buy new bolts, being 20 years old, they break easy so don't get stranded waiting for new bolts in the mail! also, OEM are cheaper alloy, theres a post with the thread types for each bolt on here, you can use that and just buy cheaper and newer ones.welcome to the club.
i lost my job, had all kinds of parts sitting around, broke bolts and left it sitting. ended up getting it scrapped. i am sad. i had a 16g, new knock, 2g maf and new intake, new gasket kit, new motor mounts, made a 1g to evo 8 ecu adapter, new carpet, to roof panel, tactrix 2.0 evo 8 ecu for my...
welcome to the club! just a bit of "i learned the hard way" advice, always buy replacement bolts for anything you work on. if you, like me, have a 20 year old car, you will regret not doing so. you can find all the details at: post with nuts and bolts info...

this guy still does the adapters if you ask him on the forums. he may have a dsmtuners user, not sure.

if you want to go similar, you can get the original 14b or 16g assuming you have a flashable ECU, probably not so 14b would be easier. you can use the 2g MAF, it's better than 1G and you just need to swap some wires around or buy an adapter from a guy who makes them on some forums, you can...
just get in the habit of always buying new bolts when you work on things, they are like 20 years old. theres a nice thread somewhere on here with all the bolt information, cheaper and better than OEM to just but em from a nuts and bolts website.
welcome to the club, just a bit of advice, you have a 30 year old car so every time you work on something, just buy new bolts. there is a nice thread somewhere, with all the bolt information for the car and more often than not, you can get just as good or better for a lot cheaper from a nuts and...
the headliner in my car was made of a very brittle and fragile styrofoam with fabric glued on, it broke taking it out.. stockinteriors.com has headliner material but you will have to find something to glue it to, maybe make your own board using some moldable plastic
I got my carpet from stockinteriors.com - if you get the mass backing get it seperate, they didn't cut it right for my floor so it was just a big waste and a pain.
hello,i purchased a 90 GSX its body wasnt bad, the interior was terrible, the engine wasnt well taken care of and was jury rigged in more than one way. was never raced though and only 100k miles on it when i got it for $2000. was planning on making it a project car since i sold my 07 gli which...
should fit, the engine is pretty much the same but the turbo is oriented differently so it wouldnt be that easy. you'd probably have to redo everything, exhuast, ecu, wiring harness.. it would be a lot of work. the 7-bolt dsm is known to have crank walk which can cause problems, so many 2g...
no, on the actual shifter.. there are two, one on each side of the up-down bar and they are maybe 3-4mm thick and they get old and fall apart and then you will have a lot of side to side and up and down movement in the shifter. when you attempt to shift in 1st or 2nd it will not pull the cable...
check your shifter, my bushings disintegrated and there was a lot of play, up and down, and left and right.. may need to get new ones, and those being bad may have caused gears not to fully engage and worn out your synchro
shifter bushings! they are these rubber plastic sleeve things that act like bearings on the shifter. they disintegrate after awhile and then there will be a lot of play which will cause the gear to not fully engage. the can be bought from a mitsubishi parts reseller, you could probably macgyver...
i had an issue with my car, basically the original ingition cables broke inside and it was arcing across the break and melkting the plug from the inside. might need new cables. also had the problem of the cables coming lose at the coils, and make sure you have the cables plugged in the right...
redoing the entire wiring harness will be expensive and a huge pain. you would be better off making an adapter or just getting the right ecu. the plugs for the different ecus can be bought from bulk dealers.. the part numbers are on the evo 8 to dsm thread somewhere (big thread)
just the fabric? the roof is this cheap fragile styrafoam thing that might break it its old. if you are really really careful you can take out all the plastic trimming which may also break if its old and brittle, then remove the fabric and use spray adhesive to glue on new frabric. there are a...
buy some seafoam or you can use water, pour some in your oil filler and and start the car and spray it down the intake (after MAF). it will make a lot of smoke, but the seafoam or water will break up and make all the carbon sponge like. you will need to change your oil after you put a few miles...
