I'll try a temp sensor next. No more boost leak I did the old soapy water trick, everything is good to go. @TermTrky I doesn't surge. just idles at 1900, but it's making noise as if it's idling at 4K lol.
Symptom: Idles at steady 1900What I know about the car: Had motor swapped. No Cruise. No AC. Egr DeleteWhat I've already tried: Cleaned MAF sensor. Fixed Boost Leaks. Put on correct EGR. Bought new Idle Air Controller. Changed out Spark Cables.Any ideas?
I always run like a 84 dollar ebay cat back, they're cheap and steel so they won't fall apart. the guy's at the shop won't make any cool bends on them b/c they're steel so that's the only draw back, no side slanted exhaust.
So I bought 2 Air Control item's and they both look wrong. The one's I purchased are for a 1998 GST Spyder and the items I took off my car are right next to them in the pictures. If you can please tell me what year my engine is based off the pictures that would be awesome.
I had the same symptoms, I had to replace Idle Air Control and EGR Valve. Later I realized my Idle Air Control was just dirty. I could have just cleaned it. You live you learn. (Also they're like 10 bucks on ebay).
What kind of BOV do you have? It may be letting boost out at higher RPMS b/c it's set to 8PSI but not all of it so you'll get a sputter effect. If you have a boost controller I would close it to stock settings see if you still have sputter. if not then you just need to harden your BOV or get a...
I got it running pretty good now. Still idles high but I have new Idle Air Controller and EGR Valve that I have not put in yet.I put in a Gauge Pillar, Boost Gauge, Boost Controller and new spark plug wiresSounds great now!
Alright, so I still have every intake check engine light on in the book. I noticed that the Intake had all 3 holes unplugged. So I used some JB Weld to plug them all up, it worked. I found some "spa hose" thanks to WES_393's post and it worked to get the BOV recirculating. While the Intake was...
So fixed the brakes, they're no longer leaking and letting our oil pressure. Got new tie rod ends and wheel bearings, replaced the rack and pinion. Put a new belt on the power steering pump. I thought that the reason they took it off is because the rack and pinion was leaking but it looks like...
Please help fellow DSM'ers I can't post to classifieds or ISO even though I've filled up the required 20 posts, lol so I need you to help a brother out.
Mechanic says one of the axle nuts was loose, so it made it seem like the wheel hub bearing was worn out but it wasn't he suggested replacing the Rack and Pinion as it's seeping oil he quoted 500 on labor for that, not sure if that's reasonable, I do know that I don't want to replace that myself...
Previous owner was from Chicago so he rhino dipped the wheel wells to prevent rust, he also got rhino dip on the wheel hub nuts and the tie rod end ends, I couldn't remove the manual, I tried every trick in the book. I'm sending it into a shop see if they can do it, if not, I'll have to get the...

Just bought a car that was used as a parts car for a DSM in a front end collision, he said he bought it without an engine, and rebuilt his old blown engine and threw it in there. The car runs rough. Mostly idle problems. Cosmetic issues. The top is broken and leaks, and the suspension is really...
Thanks for the Reponses guys, it sounds like I wont have to much trouble moving it or replacing it. Does anyone have a walkthrough? sounds like it should be pretty self explanatory once is start taking it apart, but pictures are always nice!
I just bought a GST that used to be a parts car, and I'm fixing her back up for the road. The top is bad though, really bad, so one of the metal support beams is broken, which tore a hole through it, but I think the top is just overall compromised because I temporarily duck tapped it to keep the...
Sold it today, hate to see them go but it was NA and auto lol, but at least its another DSM out on the streets, hate to see those things get crushed or parted.
Got all the goo from the left over adhesive taken off, it was from masking the car, holy crap it took 4 hours to do that, and clean the mirrors and lights afterwards. Mostly my fault I let it stay on there way too long, since I could never find time to paint. Ive been at work to much so I...
Outside still looks crappy, cleaning up the engine compartment, it was a mess, I think it had a bad gasket as some point and it just bleed oil all over the place, I don't see any new oil. Nothing a little brake cleaner and engine degreeser can't help. I might paint the valve cover red too, make...
