So what you guys are telling me is, a completely stock 4g63 can handle well over 300hp. I for some reason was thinking that more more than 300hp was bad. Something with the head gasket, but I don't know where I got that. If the 4g63 can handle around 400hp I'd rather just get the 20g, so when...
Well, here's an update. The person I was going to buy the engine from had a real shaddy story about it, had no papers on it, and claimed the thing was very well built (new rods, pistons, head studs, rod bolts, etc.) So we said screw it an have decided to just get my head rebuilt, and save a ton...
Alright guys here is the car I am considering. My engine is in the shop right now for a rebuild, and the guy gave me some very unpleasant numbers. I dont think it would be a very smart investment, so I have decided it would be better to just a new car. Tell me what you guys think of this and...
Alright guys here is the car I am considering. My engine is in the shop right now for a rebuild, and the guy gave me some very unpleasant numbers. I dont think it would be a very smart investment, so I have decided it would be better to just a new car. Tell me what you guys think of this FS/FT...
Yeah he does build a lot of hondas. Their shop race car is a civic. Heres a link to their website. MKCPerformance.com - A Kansas City Performance Automotive Shop » Home. They aren't building it. I'm taking my engine is at a little shop in overland park Engine Rebuilding-Performance Engines Race...
I do not plan on running e85. Not only will it hurt my gas mileage, but it is really not too common in the KC area. My engine is about to be taken to a local shop to be nicey built, instead of taking someones word for it. I will be tuning with DSMlink V3, and will have all the necessary...
I never asked about horsepower. I know better than to ask about that. I've decided not t buy that turbo anyway, the person is being flakey. I'm now trying to find a turbo capable of numbers in the 350-450 horsepower range. We are in the process of building our own engine instead of buying one...
That's not what I'm a little pissed about. He already got to mine, he just told me absolutely nothing helpful. "The last turbonetics 60-1 I used lasted a whopping 150 miles," that on top of telling me to use the search didn't do much for me.
Okay. I am buying a built engine, and a new turbo. I have a chance to get this turbo for a pretty good price. It is rebuilt, with zero miles on it since rebuild. The guy said its a turbonetics hi fi 60-1. I have read what I can about it online, but here isn't much on them. I'm not looking for...
Yeah, so we figured that putting on the exhaust and pretending we didn't see anything was a bad idea. It will come back to haunt us if we don't just fix it now.
We went to the shop and there is oil coming from two of the cylinders, going into the exhaust manifold. And I have physically seen the oil inside the turbo, and the valves are looking pretty nasty.
It would be quicker to swap in an engine thats already built. Im a college student, and I work, so I really need a car. A little time without a car will be okay, I'm just not trying to go overboard. I'm ready to go bigger than an ebay 16g which is whats on there now. My car is at the shop now...
Alright, so my engine is taking a crap on me, as well as the turbo. I found a complete 6 bolt built for $2500. I'm gonna buy that and a new turbo. I figured if I'm spending that kind of money, I might as well do it right and go for some decent numbers. I am looking for numbers in the 400's maybe...
It's not just the catback. Its manifold back. But I know that that is still high. But it doesn't look like the exhaust is going on anytime soon. When the guys removed the manifold today, there was oil coming out of two of the holes in the head. I know its no the right terminology, but thats what...
I know I could have probably got some parts on myself, but I cant weld. They are having to make some hangers, and have to weld in the caalytic converter. Any bolt on 3 inch high flow cat was well over $200. My dad is paying for most of the install, I bought all the parts, so the install hurts...
Well, the car has been in the shop for three days now. The first day was spent haggling with them about price ($650 to install :( ), and today is the second day that they were supossed to be working on it. They haven't got much done yet, but I did get some bad news. They think my turbo is...
Thats what I was thinking. I thought that cutting the can and putting in a K&N filter was a pretty common/cheap upgrade. If it caused idle problems people probably wouldn't do it as often.
Okay, no I havn't done a BLT yet, but I did take my car to an exhaust shop today. I just went there to get a quote on my mani back exhaust ($650 :( ) and the guy commented on my weird idle. He thinks that the idle problem is from cuttng my air can and installing a k&n filter. He told me that the...
Does this just block the FIAV. If so, I will probably just buy this and just do it right.JM Fab FIAV Bypass Plate (DSM) - Modern Automotive Performance
Right now on the History channel, a new episode of Top Gear is on. Tanner, Rutledge, and Adam are competeing to see who had the best college car. Rutledge is sporting a VW Bus, Adam is rocking an enormous Caddy, and best of al, Tanner is reping the 1991 Talon TSi. Tanners Talon is looking damn...
Okay, I say that I can't do any of it on my own, but I only say that because I'm affraid I will mess something up. The car is my daily driver and I work while being a full time college student. With some instructions I'm sure I could do anything on the car, I just don't want to screw anything up.
But I have also heard that when doing a proper boost leak test, you are supossed to do something with the cams. I was able to find some little leaks aroun the bov valve and stuff, but nothing too major. Again the test I did was half ass, so I wasn't able to find much.
I would fix my boost leak, except it is something I can't really do myself. I have tried to make a tester but when I hooked it up and pressurized it, it never seemed to pressurize. For me to fix the leak, I would have to pay someone to do it. I have put $1200 into the car in the past 2 weeks...
Alright so I have read through some other threads and I can't find one that sounds like my problem. While my car is idling, it goes from about 1k to maybe 1400 rpms. While the rpms are bouncing, the boost gauge bounces as well. When its cold, it does this at about 2k, and when its warm, a little...
Alright, so I plan on upgrading my 1g maf to a 2g. So I will need to change the pipe as well. But what I am wondering is if just buying a 2g intake pipe will fit in the 1g. I have heard that it is too long, but then I have heard of guys doing it. So I guess I am just trying to get some more...
Okey here is a quick update on the car. I told you guys I put a new alternator and battery in; well, the alternator was bad for a second time. Again, my power steering pump leaked into it causing it to fail. So $800 dollars later, I have anew power steering pump, and alternator. Also, one of my...
Alright thanks. I am currently working on getting a 2g maf, a new fmic, evo 9 injectors, walbro 190, and a used safc 2. I have realized that 350 hp is out o the picture with just those upgrades, but even if I could get 275 I would be happy. I'd really like to be able to run over a 350z or a g35...
Everything you guys have mentioned was brought up by either my dad, or the mechanic at the dealer. Here's a video of the tach while trying to start the car.Weird Tach Movement With Dead Car - YouTubeForgot to mention that every time I turned the key, there was a tick noise that came from...
Well, she's off to the Mitsubishi dealer; just got er towed. We jump started the car, and no matter what we did the car wouldn't stay on. The battery is a week old, and the alternator is maybe two months old. I guess I'll see what they say.
Alright, I'm stuck in my college parking lot. My car won't start. I can hear a humming noise when I turn the key, my dash lights go on, but the car isn't trying to turn over. But the weird thing is my tach needle is bouncing all over the place. It spikes to 4k, and bounces. Not sure what to...
Alright, I also forgot to tell you that when the key is in the ignition and is on accessory, nothing turns on. My seatbelts for example only work when the car is on, and my head unit wont turn on with the key on accessory. Really, for anything to work, my car has to be on.
