What is this car worth / Is this car a good deal?

How does it drive? Pull hard? No weirdness while driving? Not a bad deal if it runs good.I did notice a breather on the valve cover vent, should be routed to the turbo inlet.Good luck

420A High idle and squealing belt when first started? Help.

The high idle is normal on start-up, when the motor is cold. It sounds like it comes down after the motor heats up. All normal. The belt squeal can be annoying. My car does this, too (1g). I have tightened the belt to a point beyond tight enough, and it still squeals. Usually I can rev it up a...

Wrecking yards believe there are 20, 21 and 23 transmissions

Wrecking yards believe there are 20, 21 and 23 transmissions

Car-part is where I was looking for trans. That site also says that there is 20, 21, or 23. All (or most) of the available trans say verify splines.

Wrecking yards believe there are 20, 21 and 23 transmissions

So, I called the wrecking yard, and the guy was just looking at the computer system. It tells him there is no 22 spline. He tells me there is no 22 spline. He would not help me until I acknowledged that what I needed doesn't exist. I counted splines and got 22.Am I crazy? Or am I right about...

Wrecking yards believe there are 20, 21 and 23 transmissions

I am looking for a working 1990 AWD manual trans. After searching online, I find that all the wrecking yards believe there are 20, 21 or 23 spline trans, no 22 spline. Therefore, these (22 spline) do not exist in their inventory systems. Has anyone else run into this problem? What should I ask...

    Leak free DSM appreciation

I discovered (thanks dsmtuners!!!) that trans oil leaking directly out of the yoke is a real thing. After replacing the seal 3 times, and still a leak, I thought I would have to live with it forever. Now at least the floor stays pretty clean, but power steering and oil pan keep the motor...

Thinking about buying a no-title GOOD parts car for cheap.. Smart/dumb?

i was in a similar situation to you. i bought a '91 for engine/parts, no title. The one i bought was crunched pretty good on the front right side, so i didn't feel so bad to cut it up. It sat around in my driveway until wifey couldn't look at it anymore, so it had to go. There's really not much...

Cams pony up, or can they be cleaned

WOW, that rust looks pretty severe. You might be able to send them to a shop that does cam re-grinds. about $100 per cam and they can give you any profile you want. It can be a good way to go for the budget consious

    Random Misfire

Ya if you can get a known good coil pack to throw on there, be a good place to start.

    Random Misfire

You can use a spark tester to see the quality of spark at each wire. You'll probably see spark at number 4 is weak or non existent. I suspect the coil is bad

    Painting engine block with vht??

I highly recommend against putting spray can into boiling hot water. but if you do it, at least get a video so we all can learn from it. Honestly don't know if it'll pop or not.I spray painted my block and it still looks good, but then it's been parked for awhile now.

    2G 99 GST Cylinder 3 Misfire

Here's my line of thinking: Same problem with a whole different engine, indicates something that is the same between then and now. Intermittent fault indicates it's probably not mechanical/rotating assembly/compression. Fault is not global; only one specific cylinder affected, even though you...

    2G 99 GST Cylinder 3 Misfire

Intermittent problems are the worst. It seems to me every time I've had something like this it's been an electrical gremlin. I'm curious if the ecu is running the number 3 injector properly?

    1g in a 2g

I'm thinking this because your problems started when you changed timing. Check that the crank pulley shows 0 when piston is at tdc. They can go bad (twist) causing bogus timing readings

2G No Injector Pulse on CYL 3 and 4

@MJcanada When I connected these wires wrong on my car, I thought for sure I must have toasted my ecu. Same symptoms OP is describing. I was really glad it was a simple/cheap fix. Hoping the same for the OP

2G No Injector Pulse on CYL 3 and 4

The wires are at the back, between intake and firewall. Pretty sure one of them goes to the throttle body. The other might be the resister pack. I think they are the only connectors that can be swapped

2G No Injector Pulse on CYL 3 and 4

Did u disconnect any wires recently? I had a similar experience and I found out that there are 2 connectors that can be swapped which causes this fault. Sorry I don't remember specifically which one. I think one of them goes to the throttle body and the other to the firewall. Double check those...

    2G Bad bang above 14psi

you can test the actuator by 'blowing' into the line connected to it. you can use a compressed air nozzle, if you turn down the supply pressure to 14 psi, to blow into the line. Just blow into the line and watch the actuator move. the movement should be smooth and the arm should extend all the way.
