Well, I started the motor up in the 98 just to move it to the garage, and it ran fine with no knocking. That was right before I pulled it.

I have a good question... Today I just pulled a perfectly good front end out of my 98 talon tsi awd automatic. It ran fine, then I put the front clip on to my brothers 97 tsi awd automatic and hooked everything up and now its knocking like hell. Is there something I could have done or hooked up...

it does not start. it sound like the flywheel is spinning a lot faster then normal.. which makes me think that is had no compression. The flywheel doesnt have to work as hard to turn the crank. I will check that link out also. Thank you. I will take any help i can get.

haha, welllll... I just put almost a can of liquid wrench onto my pistons (my bad... still under the spark plugs.) and let it set for about 20 minutes, put some synthetic oil in the motor, and it became unbind. Success!!! Now to see how long it will run...

I amreplacing the seals in the transfer case and transmission thursday, because it is leaking tranny fluid. The noise is still there when I push in the clutch, but seems to lighten up slightly when I have it pushed in.

It is a very fast clicking/grinding noise. Almost sounds like the flywheel COULD be hitting the starter. I just dont get why it stops when i give it gas or go below like 15mph?

I have a friend that has a 97 talon tsi that did a fresh build with a 50trim turbo and external wastegate. He said it is not spooling past 2psi. Anyone know of what could be the problem? I told him to look for boost leaks and possibly adjust the BOV.

Thank you for all this information. I will look into replacing all the seals that has to do with the shaft. This will be my first time doing transmission work. It couldn't possibly be that difficult can it?

What size is the seal?? I have two options. 25x25x6mm OR 25x35x6mm

Actually, there is one more thing I have recently done... and that is weld a crack shut that was on my stock fuel rail.... I SHOULD still have plenty of fuel pressure though... I will double check that Wednesday night.

All i have recently done was change Intake manifolds... same 1g stock intake.Also, I unplugged it because I was just testing different sensors to see if that was causing my engine to stall out when i give it full throttle.
