So i took on a 92 talon tsi awd as a project. I spend day in and day out for a long time fixing this thing and got as far as getting it to idle at ~900 steadily. It runs but needs work such as :-Trans work, will catch gear but bogs a lot, a lot of smoke has been coming from the trans area...
searched and searched to no avail. im looking for a how-to hopefully with tips on how to do this on a 92 talon. im having an extremely hard time removing the linkage out of my junker and cant imagine the linkage in my project with full interior and the engine actually in the engine bay to be...
not to bring a post back from the dead but seeing as how i couldnt find another thread similar to this...did you ever find out the answer? looking for shift cables but its harder to find turbo part outs then nt, want to just get this over with... thanks
So helpful, much appreciated. I got the second ECU because I knew the factory ones been giving problems. The factory ECU when applied would start the car, bring it up to 3.5/4.5 then die in seconds. The new one does the same thing but at closer to normal idle, still very confused
This explains a lot... would this constitute code 42 for fuel pump? Also correct me if I'm wrong but its either:
1 - upgrade injectors, change maf, and change knock sensor
2 - repair old ecu/ buy new OEM ecu...This is a flip car so I'm not too worried about performance but what's the...
New ECU: seems clean enough but there was obviously a recappingOld ECU: recapped by a buddy of mine, leak was bad and the board needs a good cleaningclose up of what I believe to be the "AEM addon"
I don't have a picture yet but will take one soon of the ECU but it came out of a 91 Talon same trim, turbo awd...Edit: ECU came from a 91 Talon AWD and we have a 92. Can't see it being much of a problem thoughUpdate: Did a boost leak test and had a TB leak, fixed that, now I'm getting 42...
Wow, this changed things a lot.
Would anyone know how to find out more about this ECU mod?
Thanks by the way, this seems like it points in the right direction
so finally got around to testing, found out injector insulators were bad, replaced and now no intake leak! but car is still doing the same thing. any other suggestions?
Just a double check, that's with the air compressor and cap attached to the turbo turbine where the filter attaches to? Also throttle plate and cable were fineAlso what's a brake booster size line?
The text about it saidYou mean connect the terminals that are supposed to connect the battery? And how long should they touch? And any suggestions to check for those leaks? I had a hunch about that :ohdamn:
ECU came from a 1g Talon, same as mine and haven't tried the computer reboot, will tryReplaced nearly everything in fuel delivery system, plied injectors and they spray fine, spark is goodNot sure how to check timing, will research and get back to you. Also car doesn't shake then die just...
So I replaced my ECU so the car would actually turn over, but now I have another problem. When I start the car, it revs to 3-4000 rpm then dies immediately, cant get it to stay on for more than 5 seconds if that. Please give me a starting point :confused:additional info: ECU has AEM(?)...
So I got the car to start :hellyeah: I swapped the ECU for all those wondering how I solved the problem, got tired of testing and went out on a limb and bought another for $120.Only problem now is that it'll start but it cranks to 3.5/4k after the slightest touch to the pedal then dies after...
the how to check mpi relaylink is for 2g... and i opened the cover to see the contactors like so
and when cranking only the fuel pump coil makes contact tried looking at the no start guide which saysnow what i dont understand is
#1 why the pic only shows a 4 pin connector and not the other...
1992 eagle talon tsi awdhave spark, have fuel pressure but when removing fuel rail and cranking, injectors will not fire unless the metal nipple on the tip is depressed... very confused. replaced resistor box, replaced mpi (which is only immediately making one contact on crank), and replaced...
So I've searched and searched and searched and still have questions. The contacts in the MPI relay, are they both supposed to connect? Only one of the coils is making connection on crank. Also would that prevent the car from starting? Thanks a lot
from what i know theyre stock injectors. i never changed them. also could this really be boost leak related? id say thisd have to be a pretty big boost leak
ive replaced the isc, tps, adjusted the tps, cleaned the tb, and im stumped. i start the car, the rpms stay extremely low and alomst stalls until i give it gas, then i drive it and when its idling, the rpms stay at around 2k. then a few minutes into the drive itll surge between 1.2k to 1.7k. i...
im going to assume it has something to do with the tb... cant figure it out. threw a p0505 code before the rpms sputtered and the car died in the parking lot of a dunkin donuts.help pleasedsm wont start - YouTube
got the p0505 code thrown at me. car wouldnt start. tested the isc and figured it should be replaced with ohm readings higher than normal, although no coils fried. tested the tps and readings were off, do i need a new one? also, anything else i should check for?
i was driving to dunkin today and ive been driving with this code for a couple days cause it didnt seem like anything was wrong... but the cars rpms went nuts then the car died and i couldnt start it since. checked the isc and it looked fine. researched the topic and couldnt come to a conclusion...
i tried an easy out but screwed that up, i might just need a smaller bit, but to be honest i dont think itll worki dont want to have to take apart the whole turbo to get the inlet out of the car...
i now have two new problems; snapped bolts:one in the turbo inletand two of these in the headi would definitely not like to take apart the turbo and bring it to a machine shop, who can help?
finally got it off... found a completely snapped gasket b/w manifold and turbo, any suggestions on where to get a new one? i have an evo iii 16g and id love to order from a place that'll sell me exhaust manifold gaskets and new studs and bolts for the manifold :|sorry for the double post but i...
@liquid do you have a link handy on how to do that? Heard of it but never knew how to apply it@weapon I have one bolt kind of coming out more than the rest, but I tightened it as much as possible without over torquing it
Symptoms:
Backfire-like sound when I let off the gas
Won't hit full boost when it shouldI read somewhere that if there's a hole in a gasket, the air escaping will burn a hole in either end of whatever the gasket is sealingThis leads me to believe its in the exhaust manifold, hopefully...
so around 3 months ago i had a leak from the oil filter that i did a bang up job on repairing since i was in seaside, very far from home. i sprung another leak today and i assumed it was the oil filter until i changed it and chANGED the oil and i thought i was done. i saw no leaks. then i turned...
In currently running an evo iii 16g turbo and a big ass vr speed fmic, but I'm changing my 2ga bumper out for a 2gb bumper and would love to install fogs... Only problem is that apparently Vrsf doesn't allow fogs, and I hear punishment racing does. So two questions, I found one that was...
