The only thing that matters is the connector type, not the use.
If you have the original cable that was included with v2, then it's probably a serial connector (DB9), and you will connect by USB to your laptop. So you will need a "DB9 to usb."
Most have luck with Dynex...
Hey another DSMer from Pensacola! Born and raised there!A viable option will ultimately depend on your future goals. I'm sorry I can't give any personal experience using the Venom, but from what I see it looks fairly limited as far as tuning. It looks like it will adjust your air/fuel...
Can't do much more than the basics. Check battery connection, fuses & relays, ECU those are the easy ones. You are really limited on your options:1) make an offer based on the worst possible scenario and do what it takes to fix it2) ask sellers permission to tinker or critically inspect...
Cheapo gauges work....but not great. Getting an ok gauge will at least make it easier. Also make sure the compressor has a large enough tank. You probably want at least a 5 gallon.Without doing a BLT?
Would be nice to have a switch tucked away somewhere. I ended up wiring mine like OEM mentioned above. AC works like normal. If I want them full on I set it via DSMLink.
Overheating after a fan change is usually caused by incorrect airflow direction. Flow is effected by polarity, blade direction AND pitch. I have the OEM cooling fan and a 10" eGay AC fan.Even though both fans may turn in the same direction, and even if the blades are in the same direction...
My suggestion is check your battery, and type of battery. Gets cold up there so battery maintenence is more important. Other than that just make sure you are on top of your regular maintenance, no boost leaks and have ECMLink properly setup for your car.You can use an ohm meter to test...
Sweet didn't know you could check things like Knock CEL settings and deadtime value from the log but it obviously makes sence :ohdamn:Even though you watched the videos, watch them again. After I watched them all 3 or 4 times I started to understand things more and it started to sink in...
Looks fine to me. If you want to get it right you may want to adjust your ISC it should be 30.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/321158-biss-adjustment-iac-position.htmlYou should log 'LTFT Lo' and 'LTFT Mid' those should read close to 0%.
This might be true for injectors. But you definitely should get an intercooler that supplements your turbo.Unfortunately this is why the Greddy kit is so versatile. Long route utilizes all the factory open space in the engine bay. OP want's to keep his fog lights.
I'm not so knowledgeable on airflow or 2ga bumper fitment, but it seems that you can just calculate how much power you want to make - and determine how much airflow is required. Then find the intercoolers that flow enough cfm. From there just call up the vendors on here and ask them if they...
Welcome to the forum! To start out, you really should make sure you have a decent tune. Do some logging to make sure it's right then take another look at startup/idle conditions. From the sound of it you may need to replace your ISC...
ISn't "quiet" relative? I have 2.25 from the turbo to 2.5 rest of the way which sounds great with my cams. But it has a deep, deep tone which makes the sound travel even though it isn't that "loud."Don't think you would be dissapointed with any mentioned here but N1 is one of the old...
I didn't read your other thread...and I'm no expert. But your numbers look ok to me. Everything seems in line as long as you have no boost/exhaust leaks. Your ISC isn't too far off, you need to also log your 'LrnIdleAdjust' which should be around 144. If it is any less, then you want to...
You can get v2 and an EPROM for $250 in the classifieds. I did this to keep me going and sent my other EPROM to Tom to get repaired. So now I have an extra one but I only have one data cable. PM me if you can source a data cable and you can purchase my EPROM DSMLink setup and be up and...
Probably your best option at this point. And if you are using the stock fuel rail spacers this would be a good time to glue them to your rail or to the head with grey RTV or similar.
ECMLink would be awesome. Honestly I am a little biased to it, but I mean it is a great piece of software and you have most of the hardware already! You may want to double check to be sure. And you won't need a MAFT.Stock FPR ok with 190lph.Fuel calculations can help you figure the...
Sweet!I would recommend the tool even if installing a single set. If BigTyla's measurments are correct it would make perfect sense...or even moreso that there may be a metric vs. standard issue. I'm not the best at what I do but I completely destroyed mine upon install and took every...
Does this look like the light blue wire we are supposed to tap to the factory head unit? The professionals that did my install tapped this red wire and the amp is on even when the car is off.
Sorry Bryan, you are right. I mixed up your posts with someone elses. And yes ofcourse people can make plenty of power on the stock setup, I was just stating that the upgrade has it's benefits.
I'm not trying to speak on anyones mechanical knowledge or ability...of course you can spend 30 minutes or 3 hours trying to get the bolt lose. Bryan you know first hand how much of a pain the OEM filter can be I've seen your posts :p If you plan on upgrading the system anyway and have funds...
Do you need it? Not really. But your car will enjoy it. Really depends on how efficient you want to be. If you are not sure if you need it, then go ahead with other upgrades and you will notice when you start to run out of fuel. This is also a good time to decide if you want to run e85...
Fuel FilterAlso you may want to do yourself a favor and just get a tank to rail kit. Change out the whole system and don't even worry about that bolt :thumb:
My plastic one actually cost more than the metal one I replaced. Both cool the same. I use https://www.1800radiator.com/ for OEM style. They have and honor lifetime warranty. Just talked to them a couple weeks ago.
^^ +1. Almost done buiding my 2g. Can't wait to start on a new project next year, I'm sure I'll be returing to threads like this picking up inspiration. Really enjoy this build it was cool just following the thread. Making it to the shootout to see it would've been a great touch but at least...
Just see if you have the proper kit. See here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-parts-feedback-reviews/419073-bse-kit-not-use.htmlAnd ya motor mounts are gonna give you a bumpier ride but well worth it.
Why would you constantly mess with the tune? Once it's set, then leave it alone. Unplug the laptop. If you can't purchase new, check the classifieds. You will be surprised at the savings. I actually have two EPROMs with V2 already installed sitting right here, but they are both for 2Gs.3...
Are you asking if you can just turn the boost up without changing anything :confused:The idea is to get your AFPR where you want it throughout the RPM range and set your boost to whatever level your system is designed to handle. Making sure you are not seeing knock.
So is ECMLink. I know you may not "want" ECMLink, but a basic tune is no more difficult to do. I don't feel like crunching numbers but it seems like with all the stuff you have to buy, ECMLink would be in the same price range. And you can set it to whatever size injectors you want.
True. If you don't have emissions...really isn't any reason to dump internally - performance wise. Just no street racing. But you need to decide where you want to dump from and what turbo setup you will run. You can do the research, but just to give you ideas you can dump from:1) exhaust...
In that case I will wait for someone else to chime in. But at least you can check your bse kit to make sure it is the proper one before installing. If the issue just started, though, I would communicate this with the shop immediately as to not cause any delay or denial of the repair. If you...
Well I'm running open wastegate and it was cool for the first 800 miles or so. As of now I'm keeping it though because it hinders me from street racing. I would think dumping your 02 would give similar results ie. LOUD. So if you are drag racing, dump externally...if you are driving around...
1) Was this happening before taking it to the shop? Since you didn't have them fix it I would think this is a new issue. If so, you should have them do the repair.2) Who installed the balance shaft kit? How long ago? Be sure that you have a kit with the necessary grooves for oil to...
Now I've seen everything. That would be V3 if I'm not mistaken...hook up your laptop and set your injectors http://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/baseinjectordata. Sign up on ECMTuning User Support Forums asap. This problem can be solved in <2 minutes my gut tells me.I'm nobody special here...but...
