Well I was thinking of going with erl but now that we know it could crack and not be covered by any warranty, what separates this $550 mani from a $80 mani off of egay? They both crack right? Both can be welded back... My .02
I dropped the engine and trans together through the bottom in an hour. It's worth mentioning that I also used a vehicle lift. Probably easier through the top if you don't have access to a lift
It's almost certainly a hg. I high stress and high boost situation I.e. 100-130 on the highway, will cause it to push coolant out. FWIW, you can pull the valve cover and retorque the head bolts to see if that helps. 100 psi is really low for compression.
What bogus said is the fastest and cheapest way to remove springs. Place a socket over the valve stem and smack it with a hammer. A 14 or 15mm will do fine.
I've got 10.5:1 pistons for my turbo get the right rods and you'll have a rocket. Your fuel choice should impact your build tho. If ethanol based fuel isn't readily available, lower compression would be a better fit for a street car.
Timing doesn't screw up on its own unless you have a belt failure or something of that nature. You'll need a fuel pressure gauge to check pressure. Also worth mentioning is that it could be a clogged converter.
Also a vacuum leak would have to be massive like giant intake gasket leak or something of that nature to cause the symptoms you described. Check fuel pressure and spark plug and wire integrity.
Extended cranking times and bogging on acceleration are indicative of a fueling issue. Assuming you haven't messed with timing or anything of that nature.
V8 gencoupe was attempted by Hyundai with the 5.0l. Was not feasible to make the extent of.the warranty because the motor was hell on the body. Millen racing and hyundai are now developing a twin turbo 3.8 gdi version now supposed to be north of 400hp.
Just scooped this up last weekend. Boosted ka, jwt tune Godspeed coilovers, and so on. Still building the talon just something to play with in the meantime
Notice your toe is.within tolerance. That is all a minimum wage oil change/alignment tech will try to achieve. If its green he won't even bother. I suggest you talk with the alignment tech and tell him what you want your angles at
Build sheets, receipts, dyno sheets, maintenance records will be the ultimate deciding factor in sell price. I think 4k is a super deal but then again I love 1gs
Take the battery out of your other car and put it in the dsm. If it runs then sure check your alternator. But I don't think that is your problem if it was cranking the way it should.
