Great stuff man!I couldn't see if it's been said yet, but the "hardy disk" that goes between the output shaft and prop shaft is called a guibo over here and sometimes more generically a flex disc. Most people outside the BMW crowd won't have any idea of what you're talking about, and will...
Neither the tester, nor the plug seals with the threads, so I wouldn't worry about the threads. It's tough to see, but look into the plug recess and see if you can see what the lip around the threads looks like. That's the sealing surface. If it looks dirty then try to clean it out. Just be...
The fan power/ground wires don't go back to the ecu, they go back to the relays. Use a multimeter to be sure you're jumping the right wires. I hate the stock fan wiring, 5 relays for two fans high circuit doesn't kick on till over 220 degrees, it's nuts.If your modlist is up to date, might...
Only if the pins are offset, and I can't remember if it's just the 9s that are offset or the 8s as well.It doesn't matter if they came with bearings, toss them. You need to get your crank and rods measured so that you can get bearings with proper clearances.
Are the EVO 8s offset like the 9s though? I don't remember. The reason the 9s are installed backwards is because the pin is offset 1mm to one side to keep stresses down. This offset needs to remain the same, and since the 9's engine is opposite ours, they need to be switched. Easiest way to be...
Of course, pins were swapped at the ecu for injectors and coils. Madman also had issues as well. He did more experimenting than me, and still no luck. It's not a big deal anyway, factor in a little extra dough and 20 minutes, and it's still the best damn deal going.
You can get the car to run seemingly fine with the 95/96 CAS, however, only seemingly. I had to dump a ton of fuel into it just to keep things from knocking in the 2200-3000 rpm range. So you may say big deal, dump a bunch of fuel and things are fine. Not so either. EGTs skyrocket with the 95/96...
I don't understand your worry. It's more complicated than an AFC, sure, but it's not any more complicated than any standalone, or ECMLink. Until you're comfortable with it, you just need to worry about the fuel tables, and the injector scaling and latency tables. Getting the injectors dialed in...
This is mine that I just finished making to cover my Turbonetics manifold. I haven't ground down the welds or anything yet, so it's still pretty rough looking. I honestly just took some sheet metal and started cutting, bending, and welding. I eyeballed everything since I was planning this to...
It's not like you have to run SD. Since you already have a 98 ECU all you need is the Openport cable and EVOScan to get tuning. That's much cheaper than having to pick up an eprom ECU and ECMLink. Ceddy has done a shitload of work to get the 98/99 ECUs to where they are now, and there's plenty...
To switch a reversible fan the blade needs to be flipped, and the polarity flipped as well, so positive is now negative.Pushers are less efficient than pullers. The only reason to mount the fans in the front of the radiator (pusher) is if you don't have enough room due to a massive turbo...
Well, sine they just spliced it into your existing piping, they put it in the only possible location. The simple solution is to just recirculate your valve since there's no reason for you not to. It's not like you're running a Tial and have to vent.Trying to explain to the shop owner that...
I run -1.5 - +1.5 balljoints up front, even when I was lowered pretty damn low I had enough adjustment. The adjustable balljoints don't move the arm up any, it sounds like you're thinking of the adjustable ones that change the pivot point, which changes the roll center of the car. The camber...
The mating surfaces have to be absolutely true. If you're not sure, take it to a machine shop to get it cut. You need to use a very thin layer. I personally use solid copper gaskets, and/or embossed SS gaskets.
fastenal.com for bolts, they have tons of local stores too, and you don't need to wory about buying in quantity like you do with McMaster. Their prices are better most of the time as well. The upper arms use m10x1.25 hardware, and just about everything else is M12x1.25. This is a funny pitch...
I poked at your other thread, but there was only one reply I saw. There are going to be plenty of "haters" towards you, I'm sorry to say. You have a Blitz kit, a hood scoop, want to run nitrous just to purge, reference F&F, etc etc.I won't comment on that shit though, to each their own...
Pins 85 and 86 are for the coil in the relay, one gets a ground, and one gets a voltage source. Most relays can be wired either way, 85+ 86- or 85- 86+, however, if the relay has a diode in it, it has to be wired a specific WAY noted by the manufacturer. You don't need big wires for the coil...

GSXPic will come tonightMine's not really black anymore, its more peeling clear coat with some black here and there. The car is slowly going through its second build, and when painting time comes, it will remain black.
I was low on funds and needed a new one asap, so I picked up one of the cheap ass ebay ones for 60 shipped. Its been fine so far. Once it starts going I'll be picking up a Fuidamper for sure.
Perhaps this tranny design is different, but that's not true for all. E30 BMWs are notorious for noisy input shaft bearings with the clutch pedal up in neutral, goes away with the clutch pedal down or in gear. The input and output shaft bearings are ball, not needle, and the cage that holds them...
The "black box" is a line level adapter. It converts the signal to the speakers into a signal used for an amp. These are used to add an amp to a stereo that doesn't have rca outputs. The rear speakers are blown which is why they're crackling with bass. Low volume and/or low bass will be fine...
Damn, that's a nice catch. I thought I made out great picking up a set for 575 shipped, but then I found out the rear dampers needed a rebuild to the tune of 400

The wires going to the Alt are 5mm^2, and there are two of them. They come off the 100 amp fusible link. The 4 white wires going into the fuse box are also 5 mm^2, and the one big positive cable goes to the starter and is 20 mm^2.The AWG equivalent to the 5mm^2 ones is roughly 10awg, which...
This is a read template if anyone wants it. It needs to get saved as a .xml, and saved in the rommetadata/read template folder. It's obviously not needed, but when you read from the ecu you'll now have the 98-99 eclipse option instead of using the EVO 5 or whatever.
If the axis numbers are messed up, then you're using the wrong def. If you're using the 2055011 rom, then make sure that def is in the rommetadata/eclipse folder. I have found that if I have both 2055010 and 2055011 def files in there, then it will only use one of those defs. I made an "other"...
Nice, I wanted a daily driver with good mileage but didn't want to go the scooter route. I picked up a Ninja 250, which might as well be one. I wanted one after the body change in 08, but they are hard to come by and way overpriced. List on them is $3500, but dealers were charging over $5000...
I recently redid all the suspension, bushings/bolts/arms/etc. The bushings weren't too bad compared to others I have done. Heat up the bolt sleeve with a torch, push it out, cut the sleeve with a sawzall, pop it out, grease up new bushing, and pop it in. I left the rear knuckles on the car which...
Yeah, I didn't think I'd run into instances where the injector voltage would be that low, but I wanted to ask incase I came across something similar on other maps. As always, thanks for the info Ceddy.
OK, I have another question. Am I able to change the scaling definitions without messing anything else up. Specifically, the injector Latency values are kept in a uint8, but it will max out at 3.8something for whatever reason. If I change this to an uint16 I can use any value I want. I know this...
Now assuming that you have the required hardware and software: Openport 2.0 cable with Mitsu flashport adapter, and ECUFlash, the main thing you need know is the ROM ID. There are two ways you can do this easily. One is to use any DEF file that Ceddy uploaded and check the ECU Internal ID #1...
It looks still intact. I literally just replaced mine the other day. Mine would squeek for about 30 seconds and then go away, and the rubber was all cracked up and missing chunks. I was also getting black rubber powder all over the alternator and closeby objects. One pretty sure-fire way to tell...
Ceddy, the definition files you uploaded still have the wrong RPM axis address for the Open Lood Load 1? section. For 20550010 using the address of "2ee66" as displayed in the .xml will show the correct rpm values. For the 2055011 definition the address "2e546" is what works. This is the same...
Hmmm, I think you're insane, but in a good way. I'm going to be relocating the fusebox, and actually redoing the whole thing since there are lots of extra bits in there I don't need. I'm curious how you're handling the fusible links, that's my main concern. My relays and fuses are mapped out and...
That's for the lower control arms, he's pulling the two arms, the ones with the balljoints all the way towards the rear. You could try torching them, hammering on it, trying to turn it back and forth, hammering, torching, etc etc. I was able to get some from another car off that way, but...
