If anyone would like, here is the link to my previous thread when I knew something was up with the oxygen sensor. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228772To make a long story short, I thought my 5k mile old oxygen sensor was and the ECU threw the o2 code. I replaced it...
Sam, you would also need some 90* fittings for the best possible downpipe clearance. If you had some way to tie in a temperature regulated valve for the oil cooler, then yes, you could plumb one in. Without a regulated valve, your oil could get cooler than it is intended to be.I thought...
I was almost killed on the interstate when mine locked up and I was stuck in the middle of the interstate for 5 minutes. Call up JNZ Tuning. They have a recall kit for $30 that has a new yoke and U-joints that will fix the problem. Go ahead and get the seal for like $3 too. It's not worth...
This thread has some good info and links as well.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/42933-mini-steve-tek-fuel-system-upgrade-installation-review.html
Your profile says that your only fuel mods are the 550's and a 190lph pump. Have you rewired the pump? I would think that freeing up some of the major restrictions in the fuel system would help if you wanted to keep the 550's.The fuel filter and the line to the rail are really...
The slipping has continued to slowly go away the more I drive it. I noticed that at exactly 1k rpm's I can hear the clutch disc chattering quite a bit. It sounds like a clunking noise, but if I barely even tap the throttle it will go away instantly. I can even adjust the idle with my MAFT and...
Looks good man. The only thing I would say is that if you could word the rest of your build up with some kind of structure, it would make it a lot easier to read. That was a tough 95 sentence paragraph with no punctuation LOL. :thumb:
I'm not trying to jack your thread, but I feel this is relevant. When swapping cams, I have heard that some people zip tie the timing belt to the cam gears like crazy and swap the cams one at a time so they don't mess up the timing. Is this legit or did you guys have to redo the timing belt as...
Interesting that you say this because I pulled mine with it attached and dropped it back in with it bolted in. I didn't really understand that the fluid would leak out the end and when I put it back in I didn't have any fluid in it. I just recently realized that is why it locked up on me on...
I like how you also did the oil filter relocation at the same time. I eventually wanted to do that. Where did you get your kit and how much? I have heard mixed reviews about the permacool kit.
From what I have seen, the addition of the sandwich adapter plate will cause the oil filter to run into the car's frame. Nobody has confirmed this as far as I know, it just looks that way. I too wanted to run this setup, but instead I found a good deal on a cooler and housing and made my own...
I've been driving the car a bit more and it seems like it is starting to slip less and less each time I drive it. I was chattering a lot at idle and it is also starting to chatter less. It only chatters right at 1k rpm's at idle. If I give it any gas at all then it stops immediately.I...
Here is a quick story of what happened to me and how I almost died recently thanks to the transfer case locking up. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/hangout/275807-quick-story-about-how-i-could-have-died-yesterday.htmlCliff Notes: My transfer case crapped out and I got a new one put in...
I know this is fairly old, but I didn't want to start a new thread up with a similar problem. I just got my car running again today and after a test drive my o-ring leaked when I removed the fill cap. I am going to order another one, but because I'm up at school I can't work on my car for...
I got the new yoke put on and my new transfer case installed this past week. No visible leaks yet and I put the yoke in and spun it as fast as I could with a screwdriver and it didn't leak. I left it tilted downwards with the yoke in there for a full day and it didn't leak, so I'm convinced it...
The leaner the fuel mixture, the more air there is to mix with the fuel, thus generating more heat. If the fuel mixture is rich, then there are still some unburnt fuel that acts to slightly cool the exhaust gas. That's how I have come to understand how it works. An A/F ratio of 14.7:1 is the...
Alright, I recently picked up a 90 housing and cooler and the metric to AN fittings that I ordered for the housing don't fit properly. I picked up some 16 x 1.5 mm to 8AN fittings and the metric side seemed to be way too big to even come close to fitting. It even said on the packaging that it...
I'm just throwing this out there because I regularly go to the junk yard and pull 1g and 2g non cruise cables. I have heard that they are/can be interchangeable between generations. I know that they are extremely similar, except the 2g is shorter and the the mounting point on the firewall is...
So I am getting my recall kit from JNZ Tuning.I was filling up the new transfer case and noticed that all of my fluid was pouring out the front of it LOLI'm assuming this is supposed to happen and that's why I need the revised yoke to seal it off. I just can't understand why they made...
So today I called up 5 or 6 dealers that were within driving distance to see if I could have my car back on the road this weekend. Nope. 4 of the 5 dealers were no longer open, changed numbers, or something. The one dealer that did answer had no clue about the recall and I was redirected to...
Thanks guys, I didn't know I could even pick up the recall kit. Nobody ever mentioned just picking it up and doing it yourself in the millions of threads I read through.Just so we're clear, the recall kit will come with a new yoke that is correctly sealed and wouldn't need any modification...
First off, I have searched a lot and found nothing but people telling eachother to take their cars to the dealer and deal with all of their BS. I'm not planning on taking my car to the dealer because every dealer I called said they either wouldn't perform the recall or I would have to pay up...
Well, as it turns out, every dealership was a bi*** about the transfer case and said they only had to perform the recall once even though I reminded them that the NHTSA issued a lifetime warrantied recall for it. When I called Mitusibishi themselves they still gave me the same crap. I didn't...
From what I understand only the 90 oil filter housings have the option to use an air cooler because they stay closed until 180*. I have never seen a water cooled housing next to an air cooled housing. I'm guessing the air cooled housing would allow for more downpipe clearance with the filter...
Can some of you guys that said you would get pics maybe put some up? I know this is kinda old, but I'm really considering re-doing my whole oil filter setup and running a forward facing filter housing, sandwich adapter, and a cooler. I would really appreciate pics since I can't find any.
I am also looking into this because I'm tired of removing my downpipe and having to change my oil every time I need to work under the car. I know a forward facing filter with a sandwich adapter is not ideal, but would it be reliable for a daily driver? Is anyone running one?I have also...
Hey man, those brakes are on the way. :thumb:It was just as you thought, you tell them that you have a 93-94 AWD. If you are still concerned about getting the correct rotors, I would call up the company you are ordering them from and confirm that they are the correct rotors. As far as I...
I would check your oil, tranny fluid, and transfer case fluid levels. My transfer case recently locked up on the interstate and now I'm having to deal with all kinds of dealers trying avoid giving me a new transfer case.Plus it almost killed me. I think it's worth it to check.
I routed mine under the fuel rail and have not had any issues at all. It keeps the cable out of the way and cleans the engine bay up even more than the cable alone.
Every automatic car I've driven when cold will idle pretty high in park and when you put it in drive, the rpm's will drop to under a grand. I was under the impression that this is normal because some small amount of load is put on the motor when it is in drive compared to park.
Gasoline is flammable, so why would you want to put that in your car? I don't think anyone plans on using seafoam and breathing the cloud of smoke afterwards
Check this out.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-exterior-interior/223969-smoked-1ga-headlights-corner-lights.htmlI made this a couple years ago and loved the outcome.
