On a previous setup but still e3 16g it dynoed 404/398 with a best 60ft of 1.48 and best 1/8 mph of 98. The setup above went went the same 1.48 60ft but went 103.5 in the 1/8. So substantial increase in power. 1/4 mph numbers are skewed a little as I had a caliper dragging enough to stop the car...
I never dynoed it with that setup, however the numbers suggest it was between 450-475whp(I realize that’s a big number for the turbo and am not making any claims that those numbers are real, only going off of data). Track times and ecmlink power calculator showed gains up to 22* iirc going to 23...
12+ degrees during spool up and 15* at tq peak is pretty aggressive imo. Car went 10.64 like that and it’s not very light, still a street car. I know a few people that tune these things for a living and told me I was crazy running timing like that. But I’m not a tuner so maybe it’s not aggressive?
You have so much left in that turbo. A full weight car could probably dip into the 10’s. Your average dsm with no ac/no abs/no bumper supports can go 10.50. 120mph is good for bottom 11’s with some practice. That turbo will go 130mph. Also 12.7 is way lean. 11.7-12.0 should be your target range...
You can push these little turbos, and I've helped him get the car to where it is right now and with a few changes I'm hoping to see him pick up even more power out of it.
1.5" runners is the dsm standard, 1.25 is optional thru some companies which will help spool in trade for a little top end. the port shape is oval and I believe most manifolds have a small transition from the ports to runner.
I forget the thickness. They were 3'x3' sheets and were about $20 each. I used about 1 and 1/4 sheets. They were in or near the section where you buy doors, home improvement. It was a small little rack that is easy to miss. The goal for this round of mods were to block the foglight holes which...
Always on the quest to go faster. Aero mods are cheap and easy and if I pick up 1 or 2 mph then It was time and money well spent. I haven't had the opportunity to test yet as I broke the trans the same day I this work but a lot of the fast guys I see are using angry aero stuff and Evo guys...
I use the car for drag racing so brake ducts aren't needed for my application. For now at least I have no intentions on painting them, I like the race car look lol. When/if I paint the shell I would consider painting them but not color matched, probably black cause I like the contrast in color...
Decided to give some aero mods a try. Cost me about $30 in materials at Home Depot and a few hours labor. Have no idea if it will actually help or not.
If the class had more than 5-6 cars I feel like there would be no problem getting a payout. Most stock turbo guys choose not to compete because the winning times are unobtainable by the avg stock turbo street car and the avg race car doesnt use a stock appearing turbo. Its certainly a tough...
There are a handful of us in the springfield area but we dont do much as far as general forum talk or meets really, just kinda do our own things. Im sure you will see us around. Lebanon opens this weekend and a couple of us are planning on going and running.
I think what fp is saying by the inlet being the bottle neck is that you can only go so big obviously. The shape of the volute is important to performance so going any bigger than the .85 would be similar to putting a 2" exhaust flange on a 3" pipe, even tho the pipe is 3" its still passing thru...
without trying to sound like a jerk, if you guys are making 450-500awhp all you need to do to hit 10's is drive better. seriously tho, I dynoed 404/398 in 3115lb 1g including driver and ran 10's. practice makes perfect, practice launches and shifting, quite a few of you have more than enough...
You sound unsure if your car does or does not have a timing cover. Im pointing this out because the way you worded it when you responded about it. To be honest with something like a timing cover missing you shold already have known that ahead of time. Your car will have 3 accessory belts, 1...
If your trans had a bad bearing on the input shaft bell housing side as mentioned 2nd gear would more or less work correctly, it would be first gear that gives you issues and pop out, it could also be a broken/bent/worn shift fork. Worn synchros will just grind going into gears and be harder to...
If your talking about the cam gear marks they don't line up perfectly across all 4 marks on the gears. The 2 marks between the cams are all you need to look at. The outside marks are only there because the gears can be used in either cam so marks are on both sides.
So I'm putting a formerly 6 bolt swapped 98gsx back together and put the 7 bolt back in it and a/c basically putting it back to stock. I bought this car as a shell and have had to acquire a boat load of parts for it. I know that 2ga and. 2gb have different a/c brackets but I don't know what is...
I dont have any formulas to give and i see people are a bit split about picking up power or how much. i used to race snowmobiles and motocross and as a competitive racer it is very common to rejet the carbs every 10 degrees difference in temp so 40 degrees would certainly yield a noticeable...
what do you mean by the car starts to crank? with a bad crank sensor your car should still crank it just wont start. if your starter is trying to crank the motor but the motor is not moving at all you have bigger problems. since im not sure exaclty what youre explaining my first suggestion would...
According to that chart for et and weight my car is making 630hp roughly. That is not even close to accurate. Maybe the formula works but the numbers are def wrong.
If you lost all your oil and the car shut off you need more than just an oil pan. Unfortunately a car will run with no oil until the lack of oil causes catastrophic failure. I'm surprised the engine turns over to be honest but you certainly have major engine damage.Or if you still have oil in...
I'm not totally sure how the center limited slips work so I can't say for sure if it's worth putting in a viscous coupler or not, however I am completely sure of what the vce does and when it should be used and you should not be using it with anything other than a welded center diff. The stock...
IIRC a stage 2 is basically a stock rebuild with all new parts, double synchro 2nd gear. Meaning stage 1 and 2 are rated for the same power but stage 2 has more new parts in it. Stage 3 you get hd 3/4 so its a stronger build. stage 2 probably has a 4 spider as well but not sure.
Im running a gear drive set up with no issues, im not making crazy power tho. I have about 3k on it roughly, and my understanding of the reason for making the geardrive was to prevent hub and input shaft stripping. the gear drive unit has a much bigger surface area to distribute power thru than...
Pretty much all fornt mounts are going to require you to trim some metal from the car on the sides of the radiator to allow the piping to fit thru. Most kits labeled street kits will not require crash beam cutting. Anything labeled race will require crash beam cutting or removal. Most kits...
If your future goals are only 500hp a 6266 is still overkill. You will have more fun with a smaller turbo. I'm not exactly sure what pte's equivalent to a 30r sized turbo is but that would be a better choice for your power goals unless you want the 500hp on pump gas. If you want it to be on pump...
We ARE the dsm community......like it or not its true. Hearing what vrsf said shouldnt shock or surprise anybody. What was said is a fact right now. Shep did the same thing, AMS did the same thing. 1 by 1 companies are dropping dsm's. If you want to change it simply stop being cheap. I find it...
You didnt give any info about your car for us to really answer that. First and foremost a 6266 is not direct replacement for stock so at the bare minimum just to bolt this turbo on your car you would need a new exhaust manifold, new o2 housing, external wastegate, larger intake pipe, and new...
I have run 950's on e85 to 404hp/398tq an 10.8 1/4 at 95% duty cycle and 43lbs/min airflow. Airflow is going to be your determining factor for injector size. For your hp goals the 1100's will get you there with a safe % left however it will leave very little room for future upgrading. 2150's are...
It certainly helps shifting quality and you pretty much can't miss a shift however the down side is you don't gain any strength since it's still Mitsubishi gears. So big power cars will still strip gears with this mod.
If it worked on the. 6 bolt with a missing bolt it will work on a 7bolt missing a bolt. However getting a used mount bracket from someone is only going to cost you about 10 dollars.
1-4 are faceplated, 5th is still a synchro. I def would not recommend it for a daily driven car. I have learned how to drive it without banging shifts Everytime but it's not pleasant at all in city traffic.I drive it about 2000 miles a year and is tolerable for that. People def look at you...
I am running link on SD, I have peak timing at 23* and a very aggressive curve. You really have to squeeze these little turbos to make good power. The trans is from dogboxracing, its a full evo3 gearset that was face plated. This trans shifts AWESOME! This faceplate mod can be done by Liberty...
