Well Saturday I brought my gsx to the track for an import wars event. My first run of the day was a disaster. I launched the car and slowly but surely my car did an identity change b4 the 1/8 mile. My car went rwd. Kinda scary when your on the track especially with rwd tendencies(squiggly). But...
i originally wanted a celica all trac turbo and couldnt find any at all. after looking for about 6 months i gave up. my buddy had a 90 gsx with a fried motor so i decided id pick it up and start a project. since then ive been through 7 and cant seem to stop. its a love hate thing
I ended up rebuilding mine at 223112 miles.............the pistons rings finally let go......I was kinda dissapointed cause it was all original and it was fun beating up on cars with such a used up motor :dsm:
So far I've done two SBR kits one of Tsigoespssst's car and I've done a 1g kit as well. One of the nicest kits Ive seen. Other than a wrong hose on tsi's car everything went rather smooth. On the 2g I was able to retain both fans but I couldnt on a 1g. And the coolant overflow bottle Id...
hokiedsm wrote:If thats rare then I'm pretty lucky. I actually have a 91 eagle talon that is like that no power locks, windows,no ac, no cruise, no abs, no rear wiper setup just a get me in and go car. As far as the SCCA badge I feel jipped if they are supposed to come like that cause mine...
Om goodness those chops look awesome. Im not a big body kit guy but the way those 1gs look are amazing.....Try contacting Andy's Autosport those people are always making different stuff for cars.....right now I think they have 3 or 4 of the existing 1g body kits :dsm: :thumb:

Sup man, dude Id recommend the 255. I have a couple of buddies running maxed out the 190s with and afr one with a 20g and another with a pte 50trim. Plus youd be better off in the future cause im sure youll upgrade again.
Turbo used:Big 16g Ported
Boost Allowed:26psi Occassionally
Mileage on 4g63: 223,456
I got the far completely stock with 210,000 original miles........From that day forward it recieved a plethora of mods: 3inch turbo back,2g mas afc,550cc and 255 big 16g ported 2g manifold and o2 housing and...

see dave now that is more of what i was talking about ................it looks so much better than when i cut it.............so purrty i want one :dsm:
As far as 9:0:1 im running them my car as a daily driver and I have no complaints. Im pretty sure my cr might be a little lower because of the mitsu 4layer head gasket so i might be at like 8:8:1. But as far as driveability the car runs awesome. Im running a ported big16g and spoolup is so...
Hey man, as far as sequence its the same torque spec varies.....honestly on old stock head studs i wouldnt really go over the factory spec of 74ft lbs.....if they are new id go to 80-85ft lbs......arps i usually go between 90-100ft lbs with the moly lube........I did notice on a friends car he...
Well I ordered my Act 2600 it should be here tommorow. I'm not going to beating the crap out of it yet because I will be breaking in my motor. I'm praying that this doesn't crap out on me or you will have another name for your list. But until then I'll be saving my pennies just in case. :dsm:
i would just spend 300 and get the exedy single organic clutch. I had that clutch in my 90 gsx for two years without any problems always had a good pedal feel held 18-20psi every once and while held many many launches and plenty of donuts. I would just get that instead of the stock one i had a...
When it is smoking? Is it always doing it or when you get on it? Try this: Start the car, open up the hood pull your dipstick up a little see if it puffs smoke there. If no smoke comes out of there then the rings you are in pretty good shape so you might just need to do the valve seals. I just...
Ok I've looked around a bit and was trying to get some info on tubular manifolds. I was wondering if the size of the runners made a difference in spool up characteristics and how it would affect power ranges and so on. If you had short exhaust runners would it spool the turbo quicker but not...
hey man I think it looks pretty good. Its alot better than my paint. I dunno how people are seeing orange peel in the pics you posted but thats nothing a little wet sand and buff cant fix....looks good though :thumb:
The machines they use are pretty accurate when used by a competent person. As far as taking the alternator back they can only do it under warranty. So all you can get is another alternator. But if you have continual problems and the alternator is at fault as long as your nice they'll refund you...
Imo I wouldn't even bother getting the sce headgasket. I have already had to change two of them for a couple of kids cause they leaked. One of the kids did everything(o ringed the head and decked the block and had head studs) the other kid just cut the head. It was awful. Personally I've been...
same here. they are now a 10-20 minute affair tops. I even did one for a customer one time in the parking lot at night cause i felt bad. It is stupid crap like this that makes me love dsms. :dsm:
How does your clutch pedal feel? Does it vary? If so it might be the slave cylinder. I had this happen to me twice already. The first time I got scared thinking it was the tranny but when was going to drain the fluid i noticed the boot on the slave was ripped and leaking so I replaced that and...
If it keeps overheating do a compression test. See if your headgasket is leaking. Check all your heater core hoses. Check to see if the water pump 'might' be leaking throught the little weep hole.
I would check for cracks in the exhaust side of the turbo. Aged turbos will have cracks everywhere. But if thats fine check the wastegate. I had this happen to me b4. So I took out the wastegate and if your looking at it if the actuator you might notice that its sucked in at the bottom. If...
Sounds like an alternator issue. Bring it by autozone or something and have them test it for you. It should be at least 14.0. If not time for a new one. Another way to test the alternator would be take the belt off and spin the alternator pulley by hand. If the pulley just keeps spinning you'll...
Yeah just replace the alternator. They will probably bench test it. Then they will see exactly what it is. I worked at autozone for almost two years and all the import alternators are all rebuilt. So sometimes it takes 1 or 2 b4 you get a really good one. But since its warrantied cost isn't a...
I had the rfl b4........and when I first had it I had to put in 3 to make it work at 10 psi......a rule of thumb I use is every 2 to 3 psi you go up add a washer so at 17.....about 5 to 6 washers total hopefully that helps a bit :thumb:
hey anoldsman....if i were going to do the spilt comp cam grinds would you recommend upgraded valve springs. I was also wondering what the idling characteristics would be. Im in the process of a whole engine overhaul and was interested in going with the comps seeing the good feedback in this...
well for 3 inch exhaust systems I have the buschur racing turboback exhaust. Its pretty light and the dynomax muffler they come with actually sound very good. It has a rip to it when you romp it. Sounds sweet. :thumb:
I have to add a bit of info. On this motor I will be using a mitsu 4 layer which I measured .074 compared to the stock one which is .054 so my compression might even be lower not be much. :dsm:
ok well I was throwing 25 psi out there as a high boost level, just in case. Um as for a turbo im going to be running the good ole big 16g for a bit. Im going to be broke for a bit after my engine gets built. As far as low boost levels with the 550's between 10-18psi would i be able to get away...
I have just purchased wiseco 9:0:1 pistons. My question is since I'm changing the static compression ratio what changes would I have to make to the fuel or plug gapping. I have 550cc injectors and 255lph pump. Im just wondering if i would have to adjust fuel pressure and if 550cc would be...
I've had precision 550cc injectors with no problems in a year. I also liked the idea that they had the flow numbers etched in them. It made me more at ease instead of buying some no names that weren't flow matched.
well if you have 7:8:1 and then you up it to 9:0:1 wouldnt that make the cylinder compression high making spool up alot quicker...........also having higher compression wouldnt you be able to run less boost and make the same power level................
im just wondering with a higher compression piston such as a 9:0:1..........how would it effect horsepower numbers.....i know the added benefits of having more compression equals better spool up .....but ive never seen actual hp increases from a higher compression..............im just looking...
i need the wiring instructions for the safc in a 1g its no longer available on www.vfaq.com...............if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it :dsm:
honestly man ive gone with knowledge of older mechanics it says 8o ,so i do 80 but then after warming it up or so i retorwue them down to 95-100 ive done 4 head gasket jobs and never had a problem
in response to you copper head gasket i havent had any luck with that at all that why i have the mitsu 4 layer. the copper crushed to much when i torqued the head and ended leaking like a week after i put it in and that was at factory specs like 75ftlbs. the mitsu i have that torqued at either...
hey man i bought that same head gasket and didnt have a problem........... was the head machined correctly.....did you tighten the head bolts in sequence and torque spec............and what kind of head bolts are you using. my friend and i both have them with arp studs and have never had a...
so i take it you have it in your car now. Only get the 609. thanks for responding im going to pick it up tommorow, hopefully ill get it for as cheap as you did. thanks alot i kinda snagged the plug today already....hehe:dsm:
Ok I need some very sound advice. I have the oppurtunity to pick up like three maf with plugs from some 95-99 galants. One is a v6 the other are 4cyl. The question I have is if the 2g mas are the same as either one one these. I have some numbers from the sticker on the mas the v6 has a number...
i love the accels i got mine for free from a friend cause i helped him put in some stuff on his dsm they work great .........and what can you say bad about brand new wires for free havent had a problem.....also i did notice in my friends car that the mags he had would misfire a lot in cylinder 1...
i messed up when it came to my damn user name. on the register thing i put my nme where it said user cause i thought they wanted to know what the user(me) name was. i was angry and got over it but im still here as jason rosario, how dumb i was :barf:
I need some help i've seen these lights on a car in the gallery i would like to know who makes them the price and if possible a part number i like the way they look please someone help me out
