Yes,with an open diff, the power is going to go the path of least resistance. If you had an LSD,the car would have stalled,or fell off the jack. It's the same as a RWD vehicle with an open diff in the rear. If you get stuck, and one wheel is on solid ground, and the other wheel has dug a hole for...
It's normal. The factory diff is an open diff. Unless you have an LSD in it,the wheel that's off the ground will spin, even if it's not in gear, while running. If it was LSD,then both wheels would turn at the same rate.
2g heads make more power, and spool faster. The 95-97 blocks crankwalk,so if you want to keep the factory 2g cam and crank sensors, find yourself a 98-99 3 piece thrust washer block. If you want, you can use a 1g block, either 6 or 7 bolt, but there are a few things you have to contend with in doing...
That's true too...I've lived in Flori-duh since 94,and it slips my mind, sometimes, about what snow salt does to cars, because I don't see it,really anymore...Worst case, pull one,and match it up. If you measure it,and it's like 9.62mm,then you know it's supposed to be a 10mm bolt. Or wait until...
That is true, they could be worn. I've only seen it on motor mount bolts,(the shoulder worn into by the bushing) but it is possible on any connection like that.
Leave it with me,I'll take care of it for you!! lolIf you can leave it is someone's care, somewhat, put stabilizer in the fuel, and have them start it every week, let it get to operating temp, etc. If not, drain the tank, run it til it stalls, put it inside under a car cover,up on jack stands so the...
Every car I've ever seen had only one,and my closest 5 friends have an 800hp Evo,a400hp DSM,a700hp DSM,a 600hp Evo,and a 900hp turbo 351 Stang...they are all running only 1. Maybe if you're not having it drain back into the motor, but I don't know anyone who doesn't pipe in a return...
wrong sized mounting bolts,probably...I've run into a few instances with control arms and struts, where someone lost or broke a bolt, and replaced it with a smaller diameter bolt, and it was sloppy...
Yes,rust on cylinder walls, oddly enough only on cars using methanol,hmmm...just because you haven't seen it,doesn't mean it can't/doesn't happen. Again,I'm just offering my input, you all do what you want.
Either the aftermarket dipstick,or the catch can idea will work. you only need one catch can,and it can be plummed in so the oil it catches, returns to the pan. I have a bolt with a hole drilled in it,with an AN fitting welded to it,that threads into the block, where the screwdriver would go to...
All I'm saying is,I have seen rust, and other damage/issues from people who ran meth. If you're gonna run alcohol, ethanol is less corrosive, and the people I know who are running it,haven't had any of the things happen that the meth caused.
I have SEEN it,with a boroscope down the spark plug hole...
There is a screw in the throttle body,it is on the side of it,facing you near the top. It's like at an angle, and it's recessed,so you have to look for it.Try pulling it out and changing the O ring on it,then put it back, and adjust your idle with it.
That O ring gets dried out,and it creates a...
You can do an SRT4 swap. Ive seen a few,and it's a decent option.
See if you can get a wrecked one from an insurance company. You'll have motor, tranny, harness and PCM.
Everyone I know here is runnin ethanol. It may require a different nozzle with a mist kit,but it is possible. Most of us run 2 rails, running 93 octane in the primary, and E85 or E100 in a second rail on the intake.
Get a catch can..I have a PCV valve that's been hollowed out and had an AN fitting welded to it,and it was good to like 22-24psi. I also bought a new dipstick from Mitsu.
Piece of advice...on a DSM,the center ex. mani bolt in the center on the bottom, goes into an oil galley in the head. Put teflon tape on the threads if you don't use a stud with a bevel on it,to seat against the head,or you'll leak oil.
You don't want to run a 95-97 block anyways. The 3 piece thrust washer set up in the 98 and 99 block wont crank walk.My frien made over 650 horse in a 99 block without issue. Or if you don't mind running the 1g electronics, you can use the 1g 7 bolt block too. Also,if you need,I have a never...
Depends on how much you run past the point where you need it. The fewer times you run the boost up that high, the less you'll use. How fast you go through it will also be determined by how big your nozzles/injectors are as well.
Also,if you're going to run alcohol,use ethanol,not methanol. It's...
+1...or,you can go AEM,or use an Evo PCMalso, the stock 2g sensor setup has 1 sensor spinning 1 direction, and the other spinning opposite, and with the 1g CAS they're both spinning the same direction.
Removing the balance shafts helps the motor rev faster,as well as lightening the rotating mass, and the weight overall.
The Evo 560's will be fine with the factory regulator and rail, you will want to get some kind of tuning item. AFC,DSM Link,MAFT,etc.
The turbo coolant lines you should leave as is.
Just get the car,and a complete motor (whichever motor you want to run) and then have a reputable machine shop build it fresh.
And do it RIGHT. New water pump,thermostat,etc...don't waste time cutting corners.
I'm Anthony,I live in Hernando county Fl,in the Tampa Bay Area> I have been a mechanic for over 20 years, and been into DSM's since 2000. Check me out on Facebook "Ant's Auto Repair",I have 2 Evo's,a 91 TSi AWD,being worked on,and of course my 93 will be started in a few weeks.
I can build most...
