Check compression, if its good then it's the turbo seals. If the compression is low on a cylinder just put a cap full of oil in i and test it again. If the compression goes back up its rings, if not its valve guide or etc. hope It helps
Two nuts would be the best way tighten the two nuts on the tread of the stud pretty tight, use the inside nut to back out the studs. Saves the stud compared to vice grips.

Didn't 1g auto's come factory with 390cc injectors and the 13b? Mines a 91, I swapped out the stock 390's for 450's when I put in the hard piping, walbro 255, rewire, Maft w/3" maf and evo 3 16g.
