I would not select the option that says do not look for random misfires for the reason that you said the car ran lean when it threw this code, that to me is a reason to be concerned. A random misfire code in my experience is usually due to a vacuum/boost leak or a faulty injector. This car is...
Boomdeeze do you have any info on the HTA76? I'm in the same situation as the OP and I've been leaning towards a FP Red but wanted to know what the advantage of getting the HTA76 would be, since it cost twice as much as the red. Any info would be appreciated.
It's rare but on occasion you may get faulty parts when purchased as "new". More than likely the axle that failed was also a reman, as brand new axles are rather expensive. Glad you got that issue resolved.
Are you still getting the brown discoloration in your coolant? It could be that some of your system has rusted internally from improper coolant mixtures. Why not try flushing the entire system and refilling with fresh coolant and see if that helps
You would have to place a resistor in the connector with the same amount of resistance as the airbag assembly, or you could do what someone else mentioned by removing the airbag light from the cluster.
Just remember safety first and always support your car using jack stands. Do not leave it on the jack, because jacks can fail. As for inspecting the suspension components, you can check them by prying on them with a pry bar or by trying to move things by hand. If they move excessively than they...
If you notice that your fans are not coming on while the car sits at idle, check the fan circuit. If the fans do turn on, like the others said, replace cap and burp the system.
I know of the swamp, I'll have to check it out. Do you know of any fuel stations that carry e85? Any tracks that you frequent? I think someone mentioned something to me about Mobile, AL?
Do as the others have suggested to remove the old seal. To install the new one, if you have a socket close in diameter to the seal, tap the socket with a hammer lightly to drive the seal in place evenly until it seats.
Have you tried looking on the ecmlink website about the firing order? I know for a fact that they cover it. Your wideband would not keep the car from starting.
I would have to agree with 2ggst98 and say that it may be to soon for this upgrade and that you can spend your money else where and see much more significant gains. I'm running a evo3 16g and have not yet installed a fmic, I spent my money on supporting fuel sys mods and DSMLink. Now I think I'm...
I've never heard of GSX rear ends breaking "easily". I know people running up to 500whp on stock rear ends. I also don't see many 2g GSTs going for $2500, regardless of which version you buy I'm sure you would like to buy a "clean" car unless you don't mind undergoing a full restoration. I would...
I also recommend buying an awd car wether it be a Talon/Eclipse, there's a reason everyone seeks this version. I will never buy a fwd car ever again, plus why buy a fwd with intentions on doing an awd swap? Just buy the awd and be done with it, even if costs you a little more.
It doesn't sound like your ecm is the culprit, being that you've tried numerous computers and that only around 2% of ecm's actually go bad. A schematic of the ignition system would be very helpful, and go through and test every circuit on the primary side (before the coil) since your coil is no...
Like pauleyman said you shouldn't have to rebalance the driveshaft. If your carrier bearing needs replaced, replace it and possibly the ujoints for good practice and you should be good to go. The driveshaft is balanced from the factory. I can't tell you if you can hold off on the repair not...
What's up man. I'm in the same boat as you, I've been toying with DSM's for 6 years now, I'm on my second 2g. I've had an account on this site for some time, just never posted. I plan to post more frequently and will be posting info on my car shortly. Either way welcome!
Just like everyone else before me said, be careful and if you can have someone go with you to check out the car. You never know who you're dealing with!
I will have to look mine over because my car has started to do the same exact thing. Same as you I replaced all belts with no improvement. Thanks for posting this!
You don't need a torque wrench to bar the engine over, just use a breaker bar. Crank walk would not stop your engine from turning. Make sure the car was not left in gear the last time you tried to bar it over. An engine doesn't turn over one time and then not the other. As for your starter, try...
To set timing you need to align the top dead center (TDC) mark on the crankshaft pulley with the marking on the bottom end cover.Your cam gears should have marks on them, you need to align these marks so they are parallel to the ground and facing one another. This is the proper alignment of...
I think you should spend your money on fixing the current issues with the car and then take care of any/all preventative maintenance. Than you can talk about buying upgrades…just my .02
