i have a head that cam with a car but don't know what it is worth or what gen head it is. tell me what to look for and we can work something out.

I think i would check it out before you just buy a turbo. does it have any shaft play?

I don't like the zip tie of the belt to the cams. it is easy for the belt to skip a tooth or two on the crank pulley... when was the last timing belt on the car? might as well put a new belt on with the head gasket.

cam timing is with the timing belt make sure all your timing marks are right.

yeah id really check cam timing not ignition timing. the fact that it spools to fast and has poor power i bet your cams are off.

chambers and pistons look fine to me.

yes i mis-read that when it was posted that the Evo 8 had it and thought some DSM's had a clutch style.

did you check it with a second gauge? I guess I'd make sure so your not dropping oil pressure that isn't high. to me it would be worth the time to double check it.

I would check cam timing too. I have had to help people with this after they did timing belts on other DOHC cars

man what a problem to have LOL so many other platforms see low oil pressure i think i might get to like these things

this is why i was asking.... I don't know a ton about these cars but have done turbo stuff along with a lot of other stuff and am a technician.......sometimes it is hard to figure out what people are asking LOL

do all models have LSD rears? which have VC which have clutch style?

what is the reason for wanting the evo 8 or 9 motor?

what gauge are you checking it with? I'd try a second gauge for reference.do you need to port the relief when you delete the balance shafts? or is it a high volume pump deal?
