When I add deadtime (Ex. I'll make it 400 or higher instead of 375), it makes it even more rich and doesn't lean it out at all.
When I remove deadtime (lower than 375) it also does not lean it out.
I'm thinking that the InjBatteryAdj may be out of whack. The vehicle already had ECMLink set up...
I did manually enter the Wideband voltage values. When I did it, I still had the narrowband in its original location to verify the readings were correct.
The WB hits 11.0 ish on WOT, and fluctuates (10.5-16) like it should throughout the range. It’s just rich (11-12) at idle. 🤷♂️
1200cc is correct, I subtracted from the global to take out even more fuel since I’m rich, that’s why it looks like 1400cc.Base fuel pressure is 37.5, at idle it’s around 32.I have an AEM wideband that’s maybe 2 months or 5 engine hours old. It’s installed 24” from the turbo. It is also on...
I have a 1990 that's currently on Link v3, running Speed Density. I've never had a 1G MAF to be able to start the process of getting the MAF Comp/VE Tables initially set up.
The car currently runs and drives well, but tuning it has been a headache and I finally figured out why (I think).The...
I have a couple of sets of shift cables from a 1990 Manual.
$100/setFor anyone that is unaware, these parts are specific to the 1990 model year and may not fit other 1G's.Prices do NOT include shipping. Items are located near Pittsburgh, PA.
I’m kicking around the idea of selling my beloved Talon. I’ve had the car for about a year, and spent that time making it the best possible weekend warrior. The car is reliable, I drive it to and from race events, car shows, and the casual night out. I have a clean PA title for it, and it’s PA...
Most towns in PA require you to have valid registration/inspection for cars that are parked on public roadways. If you had a private driveway (off street), or a storage lot/yard to park it in, you could easily do that as well.Either get it registered and inspected the right way, or park it...
Assuming that anything is working properly would be a mistake.I would suggest that you start at one end of the system and work your way to the other.
You could start by testing for power/ground at the fog light bulb sockets. Then move up to the fuse box and check for power there. Then move...
Interesting points, but I still believe you'd be more competitive in ST trim for less money/work than you'd be in SP or SM. SP/SM requires Hoosier A7's, a real suspension setup to pair with the A7's, considerable weight reduction, aero, and alot of POWAAA! So after you spend $2k-3k, and remove a...
Nice to see that there is someone else out there. I haven’t played with the caster much, the car feels good now. SM is an animal all it’s all, 305 Hoosiers are the norm, and you need 300whp+ to keep up. Plus gutting a car as far as the rules let you doesn’t leave much left for comfort. I would...
I meant that I would be there Sunday June 24th. Apparently I can't type dates accurately. I will be out of town that weekend, so I won't be able to make that one. Next event for me is in Central PA at the Mid-State Airport, they host an annual event called the Cone Killer Classic. It's a two day...
If the rain stays away, I’ll be at PittRace this Sunday, June 30th.I dialed the front camber back to -3 degrees, it will allow me to run my wheels/tires without spacers and I’ll get to see if the -4 plus degrees was needed. If anyone is considering it, you’ll get to meet a large group of like...
I only had -1.5 with the coilovers after intial install. I machined out the lower mounting hole 3mm, then applied a load to the bottom of the hub before tightening the bolts to 100 ft/lbs. After a few events, the nuts/bolts are still at the same torque, and no movement has been detected.The...
My update from the event this past weekend:The car felt great, but it was a little loose in the rear. I could install a giant rear wing to add some downforce and get it to stick better, so that's now on my radar but not a priority yet.
We got three runs in the morning, it was about 45 degrees...
Test and Tune is tomorrow (Friday).
Main event is Saturday.
However, the event sold out last month. You wouldn’t be able to participate, but you could certainly spectate.24 overall in PAX, we have some fast Street class drivers. And I haven’t hit steering cut, so I wouldn’t know the answer.
I have considered them, but I wanna keep it as stock looking as possible for now, they may find their way on next season.Yeah man, minimum weight was 2880, but with narrower than 275, I’m plenty enough away from the 2680 minimum.
I guess I should of clarified, I left all the plastics back...
Hey guys, now that my project has been finished and I've run a couple of local events with it, I figured I'd make a post about the car.
I have a 1990 Talon AWD, I run the car in Street Modified (SM), and its a hell of a good time.
The engine is a 6Bolt Block w/ a 7Bolt head, Evo3 16g, 560cc...
I have a full set of KYB AGX Shocks with Eibach Pro Kit Springs for sale.
They are for a 1G AWD. Handled great while I had them installed, I just removed them from my car last week.$200 takes them
Pickup only please, shipping would be a fortune. Located near Pittsburgh, Pa.
My advice is to NOT turbo that engine, especially if you're worried about "F***ing it up" as you put it.
It would require a full engine rebuild and way more money and parts than its worth.
A cheaper option would be to buy a 4g63 Full Swap, including the ECU, wiring harness, etc.
I hope this...
I removed a couple things from my car, I figured I'd see if anyone wants anything before I put them away.Front Driver and Passenger Seats - Gray/Black Cloth, Very Nice
Steering Wheel - Red w/ Eagle Logo
Rear Seats and Seat backs - Gray/Black Cloth, Very Nice (no rear seat belts)
Front Seatbelt...
Is there any chance that someone swapped a 91-94 drivetrain into this car and that would explain the large gap around my axle seal?
I can confirm that my wiring harness is a 90 though, I have the 4 wire coil plug.
No, both ends of the axle look clean and not worn at all. And by both ends I mean, the end that rides in the carrier bearing in the bracket, and the end that sits inside the axle seal at the trans.
Pauleyman, thanks for the quick response.
The axle has absolutely no play, radial nor axial.
I can order a spacer, but while looking at the pictures and tech specs of the item, it no different than using a nut or washers, as long as the overall width is the same, and the mounting surface is flat...
Hey guys, I've been chasing a fluid leak since I got my 1990 Talon Tsi AWD Manual. I would find a very small fluid spot on the ground after leaving it for a night. After getting it on a rack and snooping around, I isolated it to the Driver Side Axle Seal. I called the Mitsu dealer, ordered a new...
I just figured it out. The ground wire that shared the same post as the radio ground was the culprit. I gave the ground wire its own source and its all working now. Thanks.
On my 1991 tsi, I installed a mechanical GlowShift boost gauge. The gauge reads fine and no issues with it showing vacuum/boost. I have an interior fuse panel layout and realized that fuse location #2 has no purpose, but will give power on acc/on. So I run my wire to it. I found a bolt behind my...
I ultimately had the cut the bolt between the subframe and bushing, i got it off finally. Then had to pickle fork just the ball part of the ball joint since it was seperated (that wasnt fun). All disassembled now.I went to the local hardware to find a new hardened bolt, i now know that its a...
Now that Im thinking about it, that head was not turning when I was moving the control arm last night. That picture will show you why. So im thinking about just cutting the head off and pounding it out.
bryanwheat: Its pouring right now or I'd be out there checking that, I was planning on doing that already but thanks for the input.Silver99OZ: If it is seized into the bushing and I cut the head off the bolt, then ive gone no where. Are you saying I should find a way to get my grinder in...
E-Rock 87: Ill work on getting an impact tomorrow morning to fit onto it, Ill most likely have to use a swivel, its really tight there to get an air gun in there straight.
bryanwheat: thats what I am thinking now, just wanted to make sure there wasnt some sort of trick to get it out before I resort to cutting and torchinge-rock 87: it is the exact spot where number 7 is pointing to, that spot has alot of corrosion or a small tack weld, its on there good...
I have a 2g awd that earlier today decided to pull its front lower ball joint apart at 30mph on a straight away and skid the front of my vehicle onto the shoulder. I keep up on my cars and did not see this coming. Anyways, i just purchased a new control arm with ball joint from pepboys for 45...
When you say cycle the fuel pump, that would mean starting the car. I have no prime in this car, only when cranking and running do I have fuel pressure. No visible signs of fuel in vac lines though.Great, the other maf I had is worse than the one in the car. Back to the original one. I need to...
I agree that it is strange, im getting 38 psi today, and that reading is again, not affected by the vacuum hose on the regulator nor pinching the return line. It is affected slightly by an increse in rpm.Regardless though, Im lucky enough to have the best diagnostics guy in western PA at my...
I used a professional fuel pressure test kit, it had a longer bango bolt that replaced the one that goes on the top of the filter, so as you can start and run the car with it hooked up. The way its tested, it has a quick connect port on the head of that bolt which you connect the fuel gauge that...
Thanks for that daniel, but im looking for help right now about my low pressure. Not too interested in actual 190 vs. 160 pumps. Again, a stock pump would do me just fine.
Thanks for the link. Im actually keeping this one more on the side of a reliable driver. So no need for a walbro. Im looking into a pump that has 160lph, which i believe is similar to an evo 8 pump. Thanks again.Oh, I forgot to ask. Would that fuel pressure reading be the reason why Im running...
Ill do both of those things tomorrow. Im still going to get the pump transferred over from Advance, ill return it if it is the wires. But at least this way ill have one ready if its not. Thank for the advice.
Could I just run a straight 12volt battery wire to it? If so, do you know where the easiest place is to splice your wire into? ie, like just use a t-pin on the wire near the tank, or should i lower the tank.
Ill perform the test tomorrow when I have access to a lift, should I be close to 12...
Heres my deal this time guys. Mods are listed in profile, but not really relevant to this problem. I had some boost leaks before and a horribly running car, it would start and idle just fine, but under boost it would fall flat on its face.No more boost leaks, good compression (155) in all...
Since I ended up with two throttle bodies, I managed to remove the metal casting from one of them in perfect condition. Cleaned out the old gasket material and installed new O-rings from the hardware. I hold full boost now. The car is running better, it seems like its trying to re-learn the fuel...
I went to the hardware store and purchased four O-rings, all of the same size and correct size, 1/2 x 3/8 x 1/16. I took out the old seals, used two O-rings on each end of the shaft, re-assembled and installed it back in the car. Same exact problem! 5-7 sec leak down on a boost leak test. If i...
