Im helping a fellow DSM'er with build, We have a newly rebuilt engine installed and everything is wired up and I know that we have spark, but no fuel (checked fuel rail bone dry). I should also mention this car has been sitting for a LONG time, so long in fact that when we pulled the fuel pump...
If you don't like what people are posting feel free to leave at ANYTIME, but clearly you cant because you feel that you must get the last word in EVEN though no one cares what you have to say at this point,Thanks to everyone else to mature enough to make civilized and non condescending...
Hey bud RELAX ...I think everyone here understands your point, If your that worried about what I decide take this for what its worth EVERYTHING I'v purchased so far has been name brand or used from another DSM'er in the classifieds...(which isn't perfect by any means) You dont have to "fight"...
I disagree.....I have found UV dye very helpful on finding oil leaks ON CLEAN MOTORS, in THIS case absolutely clean it.OP; common places for oil leaks, oil Pan, oil return line, Valve cover, Axle seals....maybe your tranny case? There is A LOT of oil and its hard to tell from your pictures...
No I haven't decided yet but Im not a one sided person, I heard a lot of testimony of buying "high quality" but no other reason then "well never had a problem" yet Iv heard the same thing from A FEW people who haven't had any problems with the cheap ones....don't be so quick to judge just...
A fellow DSM'er told me that an adjustable FPR is required with a bigger pump and injectors I plan on 1200cc's with a 255 pump. He also said that I dont need to spend much on a FPR a cheap one will work just fine ( Ebay ), thoughts on this?
Anyway...I know the weather is kinda crappy right now but Im interested to see what else/ who else is out there maybe a small meet up or get together??
Look for a cracked valve cover, even a hard to see hairline crack can spread after warmed up/boosted.If your really concerned you can always add UV dye to your oil and use a UV light (use yellow glasses ) to find a leak.
It seems to idle ok until you put any kinda of load on the engine, It misses and hesitates and some times stalls, It hesitates all the way up to 3000rpm or so and from the it seems to run great at wide open throttle, Anything under 3500 though and its just runs horribly you cant open the...
UPDATE;Iv managed to find and O-ring for the dipstick tube Im also going to RTV the top just to be sure nothing will come out, Iv also checked up on a lot of smaller things (connections, lines, cleaned off threads put on new thread sealant and hopefully getting everything sealed up.Also...
Short answer: not likelyIf you really think it the EGR and your strapped on cash you can always take if off (two bolts) get some carb cleaner and clean it ou tand try and work it back and forth. Or just buy a new one (recommened)Easy way to check for leaks (vac.) spray around the...
I Had the same problem as you and I fought with it for Hours! I bet you I bled that thing TEN times over, They way I got it to bleeed out was moving the slave (on the tranny) back and forth while someone else wasy bleeding and pumping the clutch, Finally after that it puked up a bunch of bubles...
Iv been fighting a bad oil leak on my car since my engine rebuild. Part of the reason is the BSE, I did drill out the oil port. Im not sure that it helped very much. Oil seems to be coming from the dipstick tube...I didnt really put anything around the tube when I installed it so could this be...
Is this a tuning issue? Is there anything I can do to help with the stalling of these cams in or is it just the nature of beast? Also if needed I can post a log. I dont really have a tune yet any suggestions?
Well the problem ended up being a bad fuel injector, the injector made this buzzing like noise...sounded like a spark plug wire was grounding out so I put the stock injectors and it idles much better and the noise stopped.
Ok so UPDATE;I live in Lincoln now woot!!! I could really use some help on my new build Its a fresh engine build...and I cant get it to really very good...its drive-able but just barley...anyone around? :thumb:
Cam angle sensor, according to the link its not present on the passenger side (which mine IS ) that's when you check the box and switch the wires. I do have that sensor so I don't have to switch anything correct?Am I reading it wrong?Let me put it this way the way, the car will only run...
No I didn't cut the wire I spliced into it and soldered it in, Iv since removed the wide band completely (with wire) now and Im still having idling issues, Ill take another log here shorty and see if the same thing is happening.Heres the latest log
I recently just got my car running (yesterday) and Iv been having a lot of idling issues it doesn't seem to want to stay running (especially during a cold startup) and just has no power feels like its missing or something but its hard to tell with the BSE and 272 cams but it just doesn't feel...
No I haven't tried that yet was working before I pulled the old one but I will look into this and post an update.UPDATE:Ok so I dont know what going on with my wideband but its not reading A/F at all just sits on 22. So I took it out and plugged in my factory 02 and it seems to be running...

OK UPDATE;I Now have the car running :D BUT its running VERY poorly feels like its missing....My problem was spark plug wires were switched around I thought the numbers on the coil packs ment which cylinder it went to ...I guess its not?I dont know if its the new cams or what but its...
So Im trying to start my newly rebuilt motor and I just cannot get this thing started. It acts like it want to try to start but doesn't I Know I have spark. The only thing that comes to mind is fuel. The gas thats in the tank is about 11-12 months old. I added lucas fuel cleaner and 5 gallons of...
I'm having some troubles trying to remember how my accessory belt went on, and now I have the Ac completely deleted and Im kind of stumped can anyone help a guy out? Or at least tell me how to route the belt(s)?? The only thing I don't know really know for sure is how the power steering belt is...
So Im looking at my fresh engine build and...I forgot to install power steering bracket. Is there ANY way to install this with out removing the water pipe?
Yeah hard to say without actually being there to hear it....another thing I was kinda thinking about was "leaky" waste gate but seems unlikely given that its only making noise when its under boost correct op? A video sure would help.
Yes I understand how to dial in.... Im just needing something to start up and break in my new motor. Is there like a base tune I can start off with or ... just wing it?
I have been working on rebuilding my engine for a few months now and I'm FINALLY just about to drop in, the internals are all stock except cams (272) and stiffer springs. Ill have 850's injectors and bigger fuel pump. I'm a little worried though, I had a lot of trouble trying to dial-in these...
