Good plan! We should link up some time around 1 or 2 tomorrow at like sonic or something (somewhere mid colorado springs), hang out for a bit then hit the streets. How can we get the word out to everyone here? Also I was thinking we can do a monthly DSM meet in Castle Rock. I don't know, but...
I have a t3 manifold from an ebay seller similar to what you have. In the end I ended up getting another type. With those type of manifolds to work you will have to modify the wastegate side by cutting it and welding it in a different position so you can keep your power steering. My suggestion...
Spyderdrifter we gotta roll now you're up and running! Everyone let's link upmin castle rock Saturday or even tomorrow. It's obvious we want to resurect our platform and show people what we know and what we can do. Let's just do it.
Big lady 112 I agree 100%. I've wanted a DSM for over a decade but could never afford it. Now I'm in a position (and much more versed in cars and mature) to finally own one. I was so happy to finally have a 500+ horsepower car. It took me a little under a year with ALOT of trial and error. If it...
The farthest I've been out of the springs is Pueblo and then my alternator died. I might be cursed from leaving the city. Nevertheless I'm still going to the track to try to get that 10 second timeslip I so desperately crave.
So... anybody down to meet up this weekend? My1997GSX I know you sai CO Springs is a bit far; what do you think would be a good meet spot? I know a while back there was a meet in castle rock.
I read about this car on the holset results page and I think is awesome! Makes me wanna get a hx 40 when I decide to build my full drag car.I mean hx52It might not be the gasket but the sealing surface on the head and block. Besides pulling a head isn't hard at all.As far as my...
Let's do it this week. As long as spyderdrifter can figure out this smoking issue. Did you check the turbo? Maybe even the valve seals? My car smokes a little when it's cold but goes away once warm.
There's a meet next Saturday? I must have not seen it in the thread. When and where? Spyderdrifter glad to hear that control arm is in. Let me know if you need help chasing down that smoking issue.
Why would he say you're over running the MAF? I have a very similar set up as yours now running the same boost and I'm not even close to over running the MAF.
It's not how much boost but how much power the stock motor can handle. I was able to make 375 on a stock block with 121,000 miles. It is all very dependent n the tune and the initial condition on the engine.
Well since everyone has touched on maintenance already lets take a look at the mods you want to run:Instead of the SAFC Neo I would HIGHLY recommend ECMTuning.Injector wise I would go a bit bigger like 1450cc. I currently run them with a 044 and a walbro and I have more than enough fuel...
I was told there was an article on it but I've had no luck finding it. Here's my issue: yesterday I went out to try to tune my car at 40+ psi. I have about 36 psi worth of springs in my wastegate plus the boost controller. Basically I was only able to boost my holset hx40 7 blade to about 38ish...
Ok, so I've added more springs to my wastegate ( enough for about 36 psi) plus im running my MBC (which raises boost 10 more psi) which should total 46 psi. For some reason it still wont make it past 36-38 psi. I spoke with Kevin at Jack's Transmission and he told me that being 6035 ft above...
Yeah it's pretty childish at times but every now and again you get to see some really cool cars. Plus for me it's free entertainment watching people be idiots:thumb:.... but from a distance.
I would love to, but:
1. I'm getting a new clutch and pressure plate installed since I'm making way too much power for my current set up.2. This weekend is spoken for and promised to the wife. I'm totally down next weekend though.
Every Friday and Saturday Colorado springs has a car meet at Sam's Club on Academy and every Friday and Saturday I'm usually the only DSM out. I'm just curious to see if any of you guys want to link up out there this weekend?
I made 556 hp at 6035 ft above sea level. All the tuning was done by me and I used the lowest rated dyno in Colorado (revolutions performance "heart breaker dyno). As soon as I get a stiffer boost controller spring I'll try my luck at 40 + psi.HX40 7 blade .63 a/r BEP housing
HKS 272 cams
ARP...
Dude this is some great info. I never thought I'd be at this point in modding my car but I am so happy I am. I do feel like a noob all over again though, but with people like you on the site it will definitely help with the learning curve. Thanks again bro!
This is what I need bro! Thank you so much.I do have one more question. Do I need the solenoid or could I use two MBC? I ask because I have another MBC.
Thanks so much bro! I'll give a shot first thing tomorrow. Today is family day so no car work:thumb:Turboglenn I can't find that PDF anywhere online (maybe I'm searching incorrectly or havent had enough coffee;-), but if you have it available could you send it to me whenever it's convenient...
Well everything is functioning correctly and it's making the right amount of boost for what it's set up for. Really I was trying to see if there is a boost controller that can add more that 10 psi or a wasteget spring or spring combo that can do the same.
Right now I run 23 psi springs stacked in my wastegate and my hall man MBC adds another 10 so I'm totaling 32-33 psi. I was wondering what everybody was doing to make more boost? I can't seem to find anywhere online where I can get stiffer springs for my wastegate. I know some guys are running...
These are uncorrected numbers. Colorado springs is actually higher in elevation than Denver (5020ish vs 6035).A skim is on my list of things to buy. That kind of throttle body should I get for it? .70 and bigger turbine housings aren't really recommended at this high of elevation due to the...
Honestly I'm not sure. I do not have a smim so maybe that's the case. The car wasn't pulling timing nor was I running out of fuel. The turbine side is .63 a/r.
Unfortunately no. I was in the passenger seat logging the run. My wife was there and she said it was super loud and scary: though.thumb: Good thing is I still have so much room to grow on this set up. All I need is a higher psi wastegate spring and thicker front mount and I can turn the boost up...
Just came back from revolutions performance dyno and I made 555.8 hp on 32 psi with my Holset hx 40 7 blade! I am so happy about this! All my work has finally paid off. BTW all the tuning was done by me
Yeah I think I will hit a dyne tomorrow if one is open. As far as how it feels; it's scary fast! Did you look at any of the logs I posted? I always like getting 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinions:thumb:
Yeah I understand how they can be a little inaccurate but what I'm trying to figure out is how are these logs so drastically different from each other when there were minimal changes to the tune? If anything the hp should have logged higher since I raised the boost and leaned it out a little.
So Friday I did a 3rd gear log and link was estimating hp to be 510. Today I up the boost a little and I'm only making 435 hp with a TERRIBLE drop off after 6000 rpms. My wideband is shot so that's why I'm not loggin it at the moment. What I can tell you is on the first log my a/f was 11.0 and...
I should be icing my car up from jack's transmissions today or tomorrow. They told me to just take it easy on the csr for about 500 miles (or two tanks of gas), change the oil and it would be good to go. We should link up spyderdrifter once your car is done.
