I would think if it was something in your ignition system going bad (sparks blowing out, low spark voltage) that you would be seeing rich spikes in your logs.

It's a Hahn turbo kit with a new s16g with zero miles rebuilt at Hahn, got it from a mod on this site. I also have fuel management to go with it!
Since you're going low boost just use Sealed Power pistons on sstock rods and all new bearings and ARP bolts. The neon guys run that setup with huge success.
Actually the ZEX dry kit (the on I'm selling!!!) has a brain. Run the nitrous line though it and hook up the vacuum lines that run from the intake manifold to the fuel pressure regulator and it automatically bumps fuel pressure to compensate for the nitrous. Something like that is also a great...
Get two rca adapters for the amp cable. Plug one side into your head unit and the other into the amp. Keeps things nice and neat with only one wire running down there. There is a diagram of the wires that come out under the seat somewhere on this site, just run your speaker outs to those wires...
I sold my s20g with under 1000 miles to 99gstracer and he posted it up for sale in the 4g63 classifieds for a really good price if you want to check it out.
Nothing mixed up, I was talking about the 2.4l cloud car swap with srt4 internals. Take a gander over to neons.org and see what people are running with the sealed power on stock rod setup. I have done my research, and I also know how to get power out of a motor and where the most effective...
No need to swap over the SRT4 motor, its a 2003+ block and is very hard to wire and mount correctly. What you can do is get a 2.4l motor from any 1995-2002 chrysler/dodge/plymouth and swap srt4 internals into the block. That swap isn't hard and you can use the Eclipse head on it.Or...You can...
Found out that Sealed Power pistons are made out of the same material/process as the SRT4 pistons. Also that Neon R/T rods (SOHC Magnum motor) are actually the strongest out of the 420a/Neon swappable bottom ends. They are made out of the same material as the SRT rods which will hold 400-500hp...
Honestly I'd even be fine with just getting the pistons and keeping my rods and just getting arp bolts from what I've read.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I got rid of my s20g for a s16g because I'm not looking for bug power. I have a 400ci sb mustang I'm building as my project car, I don't need speed in my fwd automatic Eclipse. I've seen several threads about 420a rods not bending until repeated 18+ or so psi on a s16g or similar, but before...
Eagles are full floating rods and require full floating pistons. It's best to bore the block slightly just to get the proper clearances back. It is very hard to find a Used block that has perfect cylinders and are not worn at all. The boring is not for displacement...it's for insurance. If the...
Ok, so HAHN and a few other companies have countless miles on old internally stock motors with 9.6:1 compression running 8-10lbs and 250-275 hp. Why would it be unsafe for me to shave the head slightly (not even a half point in compression)to 9.8:1-10:1 and run slightly less boost on a completly...
I can compensate for that by not running as much boost. 250 is not a crazy goal at all. I will make more power per PSI with the higher C/R. I do appreciate the help. I really just want to hear reviews on these pistons and similar setups. I know they (FM/SP) have been around for a while, just...
Well they do have some pretty bad reviews and complaints with the BBB. I can find them on a neon website.I'm not an idiot or new to engine building/tuning but thanks.
I have some experience tuning. I street tuned my build Honda myself with Crome Gold which does everything the MegaSquirt does (but its not a standalone). I know I will need MS, I just don't know where to start since there are so many versions and firmwares. I'm more interested in reviews of the...
Nice build. I had (still have) the opportunity to get a set of Eagle H-Beams with 10:1 JE pistons for $300 shipped with 150 miles on them. But....the pistons are STD size and I'm not trying to waste my money by building a block and not boring it. I thought about just buying the rods from him for...
EDIT: Has anyone had experience with Sealed Power pistons in the 420a for boost? If you have, please chime in.So Winter is on the horizon which can mean only one thing....BUILD TIME!!! This will be my first DSM build. I'm pretty excited. I came from the Honda world (single cam non-vtec...
Yep and built 'em too :) the rings are gapped for n/a use so when you start to throw boost in there you get a lot of blowby. Better rings (like the gapless top rings) would be the way to go. Also anyone with a 420a from 95-97 has that headstud issue....and probably won't fix it. Boost would blow...
I owned you, deal with it. Actually, we all owned you....because we are all smarter than you (except for that kid that posted shit about hondas)Rotary motors are pretty good IMO, the 1.3 RENESIS motor in the rx8 puts out about the same horsepower that an Skyline RB25DET....a 2.5l turbo motor...
If op can settle for 275 HP, he can rebuilt the 420a to stock but get better piston rings (or for $300 get the sealed performance pistons /reconditioned rod kit on dsmgrqveyard for cheap) and run 12-15 psi on a completely stock rebuilt motor. 420a rods will hold around 300hp properly tuned, but...
I think ford has to produce a turbo awd Fiesta to homologize it for the WRC. It probably isn't sold in the states though...And you are right, Ford does care ALOT more about their race teams. They have a ton of factory teams in all kinds of racing.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was talking about building a Chrysler 2.4 motor since he will need to build his motor anyways to get to 300-400hp. It's been successfully done many times before, done cheaply, and plenty of info on it.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He could do one from an EVO III or EVO XIII. I think those are the ones that are flipped around like the 420a. Or maybe it was EVO XI....idk. I'm not doing it. 2.4l :)

I've actually been doing some reading. I am kinda thinking about building my 420a too. It seems like the best option is to put the 2.4l Chrysler motor in. There is pretty much a complete write up on this website (or maybe it was 2gnt) on how to do it. I've been reading on neon.org as well, they...
ODU in va. Harry Potter, popular sciene, popular mechanics. Dirtrider every now and then since I used to ride. And about different ways to cook ramen noodles. That's about it lol
I come home from college every weekend. I am always buying and selling parts here on campus and when I go home I want to intall said parts. My girlfriend....she doesn't like that. If I'm not with her 24/7 when I'm home then I will hear about it. Shit gets old. Quick. I try to balance it out but...
ooo. I've only seen a few but they all had the texture showing though. I though MOST people bought C/F just for the look. Why paint it then? Having the texture show though didn't look good and I doubt OP will ever have any noticable performance gains by the dropped weight, and painting over it...
This magically appearing heat you talk about.....comes from the energy stored in the fuel. When the fuel ignites, it heats up and expands. The expansion acts on the piston and drives it down. Friction between the moving parts in an engine (they move because of the energy in the fuel being...
The potential energy in the fuel is being converted to mechanical and heat energy by combustion. Every bit of it (except for the stuff that doesn't get burnt because of poor internal combustion engine efficiency) all energy is accounted for.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
