i figured out the problem. it was the clutch disc. i put in a stock pressure plate and clutch disc and the noise went away. the clutch i had was a xtd stage 4 unsprung clutch. that surprises me because i saw nothing but good reviews for that clutch.
yeah that's why im stumped because it happened it two transmissions now. and It was all installed correct. and I had my brother in law who is a mechanic re install it just to be sure. and I also tried a different pressure plate.

Yeah my county requires an emmision test. If i just found a stock exhuast and didn't hook up any emmission stuff like the charcoal cannister do you think it would pass?
i just got done building my talon but i have a 3" apexi exhuast with no cat. i was wondering if anyone could do an inspection on it still. Or will i need to find a stock exhaust to put on?
update: tried switching the cas. also tried a new map sensor. there are no boost leaks. still not running.. any other ideas? i really have no idea what to try next

Yea i would just try re-timing it. If the cams were 180 off it probably didn't bend any valves. Just this time make sure the dowels on the cam gears are facing up.
when you timed the motor were the dowel on the cam gears facing up or down? if they were facing down your cams are 180 degrees off which would cause it not to start.
This also sounds like it is lifter tick to me. I had rod knock before and when you rev it up at a certain rpm it quiets down. You could try unplugging one injector at a time and revving it up to check for rod knock. But i think your problem is lifter tick. You could upgrade to 3g lifters or you...

well first i would check out the damage. you may not need a bigger one. but if you do need a special sized one im not exactly sure where you could get one. i had this same problem before. i forget where i got the bigger bearing from though.
i would just try to take the front cover. i would also do a balance shaft elimination while your at it. but the bearing that spun may have taken away some metal so you might have to get a bigger bearing for it

Godspeed turbos are not know to last long, they usually blow due to them being unbalanced. I'm not trying to bash there company, I just have a few friends that had them, and did not last more than 1000 miles. Also If anything I would T25 it because the 420a's can not hold much boost at all...
