Bought my 91 TSI AWD from a wrecking yard for $500 complete. It wouldn't run because they had put a 2G gasket set in it. 4 huge vacuum leaks. Put $5000 in mods in it, ran 11s, sold it for $5000 before it broke. Kind of an expensive education , but education IS expensive.
I'm sure its been done b4, but I was wondering what need to be changed. So far I have ground the 91 shift rails to make them work with the 95 3-4 shift fork. I am currently reseting the bearing stack up. Is there any thing I'm missing?
It will probably make the DSM world sick to know that I've run 125.6 MPH and have never even dataloged my car. People also don't believe that I run 1.6 60ft times all the time with a 3 bolt rear. My car is just one of those strange, wonderful anomalies thats works better than it should.
Is any one else running this combo? I run my GCC with all knobs as lean as they will go. My car is sick fast w/ it.
Doe anyone run 720s w/ a 660 chip?
I am realy out of injector to step it up any. I know I should get the AEM but the VPC is in the the car running and has performed...
It doesnt matter if he is running a Lawn mower engine or a Big block, the larger the AR you can run and still spool your turbo the more peak power you can make.
The larger your Turbine AR the more total Power you can make. The trade off is obviously spool. If you car is mainly a drag car then you should stick with the larger AR, unless you are having spool issues between gears. I am assuming you are running a manual tranny.
DSM valve springs have so much installed height it would take around a half inch of shim to cause coil bind with most off the shelf cams. HMMM that statment reminds me of some shops performance spring sets.
On Saturday I went to local drag strip and ran my best time yet; [email protected] granny shifting, 3250lb. Put that in your horsepower calculator. Got to get the tranny fixed. Then on Sun. got to go to a SCCA cone dodging race. It was alot of fun, but my car was really frustrating to drive...
With alcohol you will want to run 10 or 11:1 compression and you will NOT need an intercooler wich will help air flow and simplicity. You will need more lift than HKS cams will offer, Crower can grind you any spec you want. You will need solid lifters and custom springs. I would run as large...
If you can't find it on google it cant be real.
I only said it helps, I did'nt say it was responsible for keeping the rods together.
Exhaust manifold pressure should stay fairly close to intake manifold pressure, but in reality exhaust pressure stays higher because of the use of restrictive...
Engines tend to "toss" connecting rods during valve float or at the end of the exhaust stroke or the beginning of the intake stroke due to the fact that there is little to no force on the top of the piston. This is when the tensile load on the rod is the highest. In a turbo application the...
I also run a stock engine. My car 60fts like crazy and somehow I was lucky enough to get a tranny that shifts like crazy. I have never granny shifted my car at the track, but I am sure it would not run well at all.(TSO4) I have stg 3 TMO. I cannot say enough about 2 steps and 60ft times. My car...
My car 60fts well also. I run short tires and lots of air pressure. 215/35/18s and 50psi. Two step on 6000 (5psi boost) and I slip the clutch out (ACT 2600). It may spin a little but it doesnt bog or break my 3 bolt. It consistantly runs in the high 1.6 range.
8/02/02
11.80@ only 111mph 1.68 60ft
I had the boost turned up to 26psi. Engine was missing in upper RPM range. Stock ignition. (plug gap 0.025) I ran out of gear @ about 1000ft. Coasted through at about 1/2 throttle. The ambient temp was about 100 deg.
I think its time for a Kenne Bell...
I tried to get some info on using the FAST on my DSM a year ago and no one would give me any help. I am glad you made it work.
I have to agree, the FAST is the shit. Several of my friends use it on other cars and it cant be beat.
Bogart could probably make you the lightest set of wheels but they are pricey.
I run 215/35/18s and I feel this is about as short as you want to go for gear ratio, I'm sure you could get a shorter tire for a 16 inch rim.
Mine are on the verge of looking dorky as short as they are.
I think a stronger 6 speed tranny would be an advantage.
3 liters are 50% more than 2.
A Talon or Eclipse is much lighter than a 3000 GT or Stealth.
I think a 1g and a large single turbo would be much better.
Brake Specific Fuel Cunsumtion is the amount of fuel used based on the amount of power made. If you are making boost you are making more power than if you weren't, thus you would be using more fuel. This is compounded by the fact that the ECU will command a richer fuel mixture under boost as...
I think that would be a killer machine. You could use the AWD tranny w/a welded center diff. and a VCE and no T-case. That way you could eventualy make it AWD. Sounds like the only thing left is to start pullin stuff out of the CRX and start meassuring and fabing stuff.
When I first put a T-3 on my 91 AWD I tried to use the FMU from my mustang to correct the fuel mixture. It would run out of fuel at like 12psi. This was before I got the VPC/GCC/660s. I used a bleader system to try and adjust it, it worked OK but always ended up too rich and I never realy...
I don't see why it wouldnt work and you would probably be surprized at how well it would run. The high compression of the N/A engine will have great responce. I would set the base timing at about 4or 5deg., always run good fuel and just not abuse it. You could probably run 8 or 9psi safely...
