fixed it. was a vacuum line not connected to a solenoid. also found my stock throttle body is leaking from the gaskets (which i fixed one) and also were the throttle cable hooks up, that entire assembly leaks air like crazy unless i grab the throttle part were the cable connects and press down...
so if i block off the side closest to the intake manifold and presurize the intake side of the turbo, I should be able to put through the same amount of pressure that i run and if theres a leak then i will hear it?
Yeah iv got all the piping to the intercooler with a bov. Il try the soap thing. How do I do a boost leak test? I know you can build contraptions but any suggestions?
my gst wont hold more than 6 pounds. supposed to be 16-18lbs. tore apart the front end and all my piping is connected and there is no clear source were its coming from. My clutch is pretty bad could it be that it slips enough to not put enough load on the engine? what are other common places...
My 98 Eclipse once again is acting possesed. About a week ago I went to start it and all that happened was I turned the key and everything lighted up(guages, ect) and then when i turned to the start position all i heard was a clank and all the power to the guages, lights, ect shut off as if the...
I'm changing the balance shaft belt and there's a plate the crank position sensor or whatever reads that covers the belt. That's why I had to take it off. Got it off using the starter. Engine only turned twice thanks guys!
Ya I tried wedging something in a hole in my outa pulley because my harmonic balancer pulley has holes in it and I wedged it against my frame. Cranked on the bolt putting a few hundred pounds on using a seven foot bar and ended up bending the metal tools I used to wedge in the pulley to hold it...
Interesting. I either need to try the starter trick and hope I don't shred my starter or flywheel or find a way to rent a heavy duty impact gun because mine sucks. I'm gonna look into a heavy duty impact gun before I try the starterWill be trying the starter method. Got my valvecover off. The...
I've heard of alot of people using the starter. Dude I can't hold onto the cams and unscrew the crank bolt if the timing belt isn't on. That would be pointless. Also my impact gun isn't strong enough
Huh. Well il be trying this tomarow morning. My best bet is to turn the cams so they arnt pushing anything open realy and try to tap it loose with the starter. Il give it a try but if anyone else knows anything else feel free to post
My timing belts off lol. Off of the car. That's why I'm having trouble bc I'm stuck trying to get this bolt off with Nuthing to stop the engine from spinning
Iv tried an impact gun and it won't work. And my trans is still on the only thing that's apart is my timing stuff. The whole reason for doing this is I'm replacing my balance shaft belt. Anyways do you know what way the bolt unscrews??
My crank timing gear bolt is totally froze and my timing belts off so I have no way of holding the engine in place. Maybe I'm turning it the wrong way?(left). You would think that on a clockwise engine to loosen the bolt you would turn it the way the engine spins which is right. But everyone...
was wondering if anyone has found a site or any information for someone who is new to tuning to teach basics on using these AEM 2 series plug n play ecu's. Im currently just messing with the fuel table and messing with the AFR's. I know theres alot more to it.
If your still looking for a valve cover I may have found a supplyer of billet aluminum valve covers that are a heck of a lot stronger than the stock ones.
The stock valve covers on the 2g's crack very easily when over tightened. I may have found a source that sells billet alluminum valve covers for these cars. If anyone is intrested just message me and i will have more details.
Im using the AEM series 2 and i havnt had a problem with it. The only thing extra i needed in the car was a 3 bar map sensor. currently im working with the air/fuel ratios and getting them all right. AEM log helps alot too. this is the only system iv used so i dont know what else is out there.
If the turbo has small cracks in the exhaust inlet or in certain parts of the housing it can cause oil to burn. I upgraded my turbo to the t28 and it hasnt burned oil since
oh a friend told me that the gsx's have it stock. im just looking for general numbers that are safe for a car with around 225+hp. i set it at th numbers i put above and it sounded right when i did it but the engine seemed almost off balance or something or mis fireing afterwards so i shut it off...
I have a 98 gst that I fully rebuilt that is basically stock. The turbo was upgraded to a t28. Currently it has a Aem series two plug n play ems in it. I wanted to set up the two step launch control but dont really know what to put the fuel cut, ignition cut, and ignition retard rev to. Was...
Id say put the front one on and if any should go on the back it should be the word eclipse across the main taillight or whatever. love the red paint. Iv got a red 98 gst. Looks great:thumb:
Ignition control module on these cars goes bad often. mine did and cylinders 1 and 4 were dead but the car would still run. could be it if not its the new ecu.
