  1. Southern VA inspection

Not from Richmond, but I’m pretty certain no matter where you live in Va. you have to get the annual safety inspection. Certain counties don’t require emissions inspections though.
  2. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

I’m finally making the push to get this car on the road. Do you still have the tie rod ends?
  3. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

What do you want for the tie rod ends?
  4. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

I don’t mind lending a hand. Don’t know too much about engines and transmissions but I’m pretty good at fixing electrical problems. At this point I’m just saving up money to buy parts I need for the VR4. Need a new O2 sensor connector, fuel filter to rail hose, intercooler and piping, 2 u-joints...
  5. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

Thats funny I’m actually looking for one too. Well 1.8 or 2.0 n/a. Want to do some rallycross but dont want to start in a AWD prepped class. Saw a cheap one in Pa but it will need an engine rebuild. Saw another in Norfolk but don’t want to travel that far.
  6. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

Damn. I wish I had more room. I’d take them.
  7. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

I ended up using the drivetrain and engine out of my gsx to get my VR4 project going so I have the roller sitting around and don’t mind pulling parts off it, most if not all of the interior is there. Was wondering what exactly are the gvr4 headlight parts that you have and if you had any other...
  8. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

Still have any parts for sale?
  9. 1G Questions about boost leak test

Did you check the vacuum port or the pcv valve?
  10. Annapolis Cars & Coffee (2016)

    Where exactly is that?
  11. Idle surge goes away when I pull off valve cover hose to intake

It actually dropped to normal, about 800 rpms. I got it fixed but I forgot how to mark the thread as resolved. There were a few things wrong so I don't know if one thing fixed it or a combination of them. I checked the pcv again and noticed it still stuck occasionally so I replaced that and...
  12. Looking for reputable welder

I haven't used mine for awhile. Bought the miller wire but have yet to use it.
  13. Idle surge goes away when I pull off valve cover hose to intake

Also I checked the pcv valve and cleaned it and it operates correctly. The car is pretty much stock except for full exhaust(2.5 to 3 inch downpipe, 3" inch cat and catback), and when I redid the timing belt I replaced the rear balance shaft with a stubby shaft and left the front one in and...
  14. Idle surge goes away when I pull off valve cover hose to intake

I have an idle surge issue. I thought it may be from the throttle body so I took it apart and cleaned it, put in the fiav bypass plate and redid the shaft seals and all gaskets. After hooking everything back up it still surges. It's a slow surge. Idle will rise slowly and drop back down after...
  15. Anyone ever used this tool

The crank tool would work but you can make one for 5 bucks if you have drill and an angle grinder. Took me about 8 minutes to make. The long bolt tool you don't really need to do the timing and the tensioner pulley tool is handy but you can use a small pair of needle nose pliers as well. Jay...
  16. Looking for windshield trim weatherstripping

Thanks. I think I'll take your advice and check with a glass company.
  17. Looking for windshield trim weatherstripping

Haven't checked at a dealer yet. The car is a 92 GSX.
  18. Looking for windshield trim weatherstripping

The metal trim piece under the windshield on my car is rusty and I want to sand it down and paint it. Does anyone have a part number or a link for the weatherstrip that goes in between the trim and the windshield?
  19. Website to order special tools for timing belt

I have Gates pulleys but I haven't tried the belts or water pump. Jay Racing makes a timing tool kit that you can probably find on Extreme PSI or on JNZ Tuning which is where I got mine. The cam gear holding tool made getting the timing right a lot less stressful for me.
  20. 1G Where to find belt moldings?

Good luck. I thought I located some a couple years back but the dealer couldn't find them in their storage area. I lucked out and found a junkyard car that had immaculate ones.
  21. Have a 1991 automatic roller

I need a rear bumper support, mounting hardware, and the license plate light bracket if they aren't all rusted out.
  22. Blown tire

You can just replace the blown tire but it would be best to replace both rear tires so that they wear evenly.
  23. Compression Test Results

Doesn't overheat. Just replaced the thermostat and flushed the coolant. When it's warming up it will surge 2 or 3 times but sits at 800 rpms when it warms up.
  24. Compression Test Results

I was wondering that. Car sat for a month while I was doing the timing, replacing motor mounts, and rebuilding steering rack. Had to jump it to start it and wouldn't hold a charge. Put distilled water in the cells cause they were low and took it to advance to get a slow charge. Holds a charge...
  25. Compression Test Results

Tried searching but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. Just did a compression check on my car(1992 GSX). Warmed the car up first and the first readings were #1, 175 #2, 175 #3, 177 #4, 175. I did it two more times for an average. The second time I got 140,140,140,145. Then I realized I...
  26. 1G another idle thread

I'm having a similar issue same symptoms.I tested my idle position switch and it didn't have continuity to ground when the throttle plate is shut. It could be your issue. I'm going to try and adjust mine today.
  27. 1G Axle nut

Do you mean the castle nuts that hold the axle to the hub?http://m.advanceautoparts.com/mt/shop.advanceautoparts.com/c3/axle-nuts-lock-plates/16311
  28. 1G Proportioning valve question AWD vs FWD

I believe there is a difference but not sure if it matters. I have an awd and when I deleted the abs I got a prop valve from a fwd. Been on my car for 2 years with no issues.
  29. Rear motor mount removal 1g

Clean all off as much crud as you can and spray liberally with pb blaster. Let it marinate over night and spray it again an hour or two before you try and break them loose. If you can find Kroil that works even better. I'm going to be putting my rear prothane bushing on this weekend or at least...
  30. Rear corner blinkers don't work

If the front blinkers are working then your turn signal relay is working. You replaced the bulbs so a wire is disconnected somewhere or the bulb housing has corrosion or dirt in it preventing a good connection. First off I'd check the bulb housings for corrosion or dirt then I'd look at the back...
  31. What did you do to your DSM today?

Removed and cleaned my thermostat housings. Then broke the wires off all the sensor connectors trying to put them back. Pulled out my spade connector assortment, soldering gun and heat gun to fix it all. Then decided to fix some other wiring that I found to be brittle. Probably gonna reroute the...
  32. Camaro Alternator???

Make sure your alternator is shielded from the exhaust. My car is a 92, owned it since 01 and haven't replaced the alternator.
  33. Where can I find dejon tool intakes?

Don't believe they are still in business. You'll have to look in the classifieds here, or eBay.
  34. Clips for rear panel 1G DSM

I always get them at the junkyard
  35. Clips for rear panel 1G DSM

    Or do you mean these?
  36. 2G CEL codes

Don't know much about 2g cars but if you replaced the stock bypass valve for an aftermarket blowoff valve that may cause an issue. The stock units recirculate the air back into the intake where as the aftermarket ones usually all just vents the excess air. The maf is looking for that excess air...
  37. 1G No-start headache inducer

Might want to try an analog voltmeter rather than the piezo. It might be easier to figure out the codes since you say your getting a 1.8 code. Caps in the ecu don't always look messed up when they are faulty. Open it up and smell it.If it smells burnt or like bad fish they need to be replaced.
  38. Is this idle ok?

Definitely sounds like a misfire. Is your check engine light on and has any work been done on it lately or did it just happen all of a sudden?
  39. 2G possibility of a mustang engine swap????

An awd trans will bolt up fine to the engine. You'd need the awd transmission, transfer case, driveshaft, rear differential, and the whole rear end and subframe. I'm sure there's other stuff too, but there's got to be a tech article on here about it.
  40. Resolved Looking for clutch fork seal part number

Thanks. Just saw it on STM's website. I like your build journal. Want to try Rallycross in the future.
  41. Resolved Looking for clutch fork seal part number

Looked on JNZ and mitsubishi parts warehouse but can't seem to find it. Anyone know the part number for the seal/grommet on the transmission where the clutch fork sticks out? The one on my car is buckled and want to replace it when I do my clutch job. Can't find my cd with CAPS on it.
  42. 1G 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi KEYS???????

My locksmith friend said it would run around 45 bucks if you brought in the cylinder. He also said that in some cars not all the locks have the same wafers in the cylinder so while it may open the door it may not turn the ignition. He also said that one of the cylinders may have a key code on it...
  43. 1G 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi KEYS???????

I'm sure it would be at least 100 bucks. More expensive if you have them come out to the car. If you brought the ignition cylinder in it wouldn't be as expensive since they don't have travel. I can ask my locksmith friend tomorrow.
  44. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

Don't know the year. They are 1g 23 spline manual awd transmissions. I'm in the Woodbridge area.
  45. STM Fluidampr SALE! !

    Map is 319.25
  46. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

I may be wrong but I thought that laser had a 2.0. Don't quite remember I know it had cruise control. The base model 1g T/E/L's had a 1.8 single cam.
  47. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

Finding a 1.8 is a bi*** though. I'd have to check the yards out on route 1.
  48. For Sale DSM Drivetrain parts

Looking to sell some drivetrain parts locally.2 1g 23 spline awd transmissions Not sure the exact condition all I know is you can move the shift levers and they don't bind up. $80 a piece1 2g FWD transmission missing side cover. Can shift the levers but unknown condition. $401g drive shaft...
  49. For Sale Local parts for sale or trade.

I'm good. I found my non cruise throttle cable at another yard. ive gotten some deals there and the owner(Richard I think) is usually pleasant and easy to deal with compared to other yard owners in Woodbridge. Just stop by the office and locate the owner or they get pissy.
