Not from Richmond, but I’m pretty certain no matter where you live in Va. you have to get the annual safety inspection. Certain counties don’t require emissions inspections though.
I don’t mind lending a hand. Don’t know too much about engines and transmissions but I’m pretty good at fixing electrical problems. At this point I’m just saving up money to buy parts I need for the VR4. Need a new O2 sensor connector, fuel filter to rail hose, intercooler and piping, 2 u-joints...
Thats funny I’m actually looking for one too. Well 1.8 or 2.0 n/a. Want to do some rallycross but dont want to start in a AWD prepped class. Saw a cheap one in Pa but it will need an engine rebuild. Saw another in Norfolk but don’t want to travel that far.
I ended up using the drivetrain and engine out of my gsx to get my VR4 project going so I have the roller sitting around and don’t mind pulling parts off it, most if not all of the interior is there. Was wondering what exactly are the gvr4 headlight parts that you have and if you had any other...
It actually dropped to normal, about 800 rpms. I got it fixed but I forgot how to mark the thread as resolved. There were a few things wrong so I don't know if one thing fixed it or a combination of them. I checked the pcv again and noticed it still stuck occasionally so I replaced that and...
Also I checked the pcv valve and cleaned it and it operates correctly. The car is pretty much stock except for full exhaust(2.5 to 3 inch downpipe, 3" inch cat and catback), and when I redid the timing belt I replaced the rear balance shaft with a stubby shaft and left the front one in and...
I have an idle surge issue. I thought it may be from the throttle body so I took it apart and cleaned it, put in the fiav bypass plate and redid the shaft seals and all gaskets. After hooking everything back up it still surges. It's a slow surge. Idle will rise slowly and drop back down after...
The crank tool would work but you can make one for 5 bucks if you have drill and an angle grinder. Took me about 8 minutes to make. The long bolt tool you don't really need to do the timing and the tensioner pulley tool is handy but you can use a small pair of needle nose pliers as well. Jay...
The metal trim piece under the windshield on my car is rusty and I want to sand it down and paint it. Does anyone have a part number or a link for the weatherstrip that goes in between the trim and the windshield?
I have Gates pulleys but I haven't tried the belts or water pump. Jay Racing makes a timing tool kit that you can probably find on Extreme PSI or on JNZ Tuning which is where I got mine. The cam gear holding tool made getting the timing right a lot less stressful for me.
Good luck. I thought I located some a couple years back but the dealer couldn't find them in their storage area. I lucked out and found a junkyard car that had immaculate ones.
Doesn't overheat. Just replaced the thermostat and flushed the coolant. When it's warming up it will surge 2 or 3 times but sits at 800 rpms when it warms up.
I was wondering that. Car sat for a month while I was doing the timing, replacing motor mounts, and rebuilding steering rack. Had to jump it to start it and wouldn't hold a charge. Put distilled water in the cells cause they were low and took it to advance to get a slow charge. Holds a charge...
Tried searching but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. Just did a compression check on my car(1992 GSX). Warmed the car up first and the first readings were #1, 175 #2, 175 #3, 177 #4, 175. I did it two more times for an average. The second time I got 140,140,140,145. Then I realized I...
I'm having a similar issue same symptoms.I tested my idle position switch and it didn't have continuity to ground when the throttle plate is shut. It could be your issue. I'm going to try and adjust mine today.
I believe there is a difference but not sure if it matters. I have an awd and when I deleted the abs I got a prop valve from a fwd. Been on my car for 2 years with no issues.
Clean all off as much crud as you can and spray liberally with pb blaster. Let it marinate over night and spray it again an hour or two before you try and break them loose. If you can find Kroil that works even better. I'm going to be putting my rear prothane bushing on this weekend or at least...
If the front blinkers are working then your turn signal relay is working. You replaced the bulbs so a wire is disconnected somewhere or the bulb housing has corrosion or dirt in it preventing a good connection. First off I'd check the bulb housings for corrosion or dirt then I'd look at the back...
Removed and cleaned my thermostat housings. Then broke the wires off all the sensor connectors trying to put them back. Pulled out my spade connector assortment, soldering gun and heat gun to fix it all. Then decided to fix some other wiring that I found to be brittle. Probably gonna reroute the...
Don't know much about 2g cars but if you replaced the stock bypass valve for an aftermarket blowoff valve that may cause an issue. The stock units recirculate the air back into the intake where as the aftermarket ones usually all just vents the excess air. The maf is looking for that excess air...
Might want to try an analog voltmeter rather than the piezo. It might be easier to figure out the codes since you say your getting a 1.8 code. Caps in the ecu don't always look messed up when they are faulty. Open it up and smell it.If it smells burnt or like bad fish they need to be replaced.
An awd trans will bolt up fine to the engine. You'd need the awd transmission, transfer case, driveshaft, rear differential, and the whole rear end and subframe. I'm sure there's other stuff too, but there's got to be a tech article on here about it.
Looked on JNZ and mitsubishi parts warehouse but can't seem to find it. Anyone know the part number for the seal/grommet on the transmission where the clutch fork sticks out? The one on my car is buckled and want to replace it when I do my clutch job. Can't find my cd with CAPS on it.
My locksmith friend said it would run around 45 bucks if you brought in the cylinder. He also said that in some cars not all the locks have the same wafers in the cylinder so while it may open the door it may not turn the ignition. He also said that one of the cylinders may have a key code on it...
I'm sure it would be at least 100 bucks. More expensive if you have them come out to the car. If you brought the ignition cylinder in it wouldn't be as expensive since they don't have travel. I can ask my locksmith friend tomorrow.
Looking to sell some drivetrain parts locally.2 1g 23 spline awd transmissions

I'm good. I found my non cruise throttle cable at another yard. ive gotten some deals there and the owner(Richard I think) is usually pleasant and easy to deal with compared to other yard owners in Woodbridge. Just stop by the office and locate the owner or they get pissy.
