its the 420a stock transmission with and aftermarket clutch. the sound seems to be coming from the transmssion. but i could be wrong. as soon as it idles down its gone again till i give it gas. i dont know if its doing it when i drive and if it is i cant hear it. im trying to get this resolved...
egr valve will cause major issues. gunk the intake which will make it hard to start since it gets no air. imo just order a block off plate set from ebay and bolt on or try replacing the egr valve or selonoid. or both. that was my first problem.and yes. you will have to pull the manifold...

im trying to remove the valves from my 95 420 head and i cant figure it out. its not worth losing the retainers from them shooting off. the reason im doing so is for a port and polish job. i feel comfortable with going at it myself i just need to get the valves out. any help would be great. thanks
thats the best way to go if youre looking for cheap. the first head that came on my car was shaved twice. .040 the first and .070 the second. it raised the compression quite a bit.
egr! when that thing goes bad it gunks up everything and can cause major issues. i had a thick bit of stuff on the throttle body and intake manifold. it made the idle run crazy and to the point where it wouldnt stay running without keeping your foot on the gas

when i drained the oil there were metal shavings and what look like chunks of the rings. the egr was a little black but not stuck.the impala is a 3800. it spun a crank bearing and threw a rod possible 2.
