if you have dsm/ecmlink you can use that to "ground" the connector as well.
Theres justt barely enough room to shoot the light from the top. Down to In between the timing covers and the body. It's the lower cover marks near the crank pulley.if your gun is adjustable. set to 5 degrees and you...
I've been learning how to use the auto set functions for maf in closed loop. I've got the car running solid at idle.Fuel trims are around 0%.
My adjustment 70% tho starting outThat **insert angry words** plug is still leaking. I used permatex "thread sealer" and tightened it with a foot...
Hmm the only time I had something similar.
My clutch would slip at over 20 psi. But that was just too much power for the clutch.
Comparing to yours, when you reach a certain threshold the clutch slips and motor free revs?Maybe something is binding or slipping other than clutch.
Like others...
I think its super awesome! More likely a 2g thing, but I'd love to see it! Keep working at it, even if its just for yourself. If you build it, they will come lol.
no isc yet. im debating on putting one back in. I found my FIAV and ISC off stock throttle body. I need to get some new screws to mount it, and a gasket. (I had to use the angle grinder on 3 of them -.- )I think I might have just muffed my TPS setting. I was tinkering with the throttle stop...
UPDATEI pulled the tranny and fixed a rear main leak. Come to find out that engine plug in there (Im assuming) is dripping too. Just UV tested it only drips off the slave cylinder. Dry inside everywhere i can touch in the bellhousing -.- Still good news, donut seals are pesky bastards. I will...
I'll look into testing/swapping the MAF...bought it used years ago. Worth ruling out.I saw something about surging idle on a ECM WIKI...quoted below
https://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/idlesurge"If you are running a configured idle speed that's higher than stock, it's possible to observe a slight...
I'll try and find a throttle body around.I got a 90 style for sure but don't want to mess with that. I think I have one taken apart somewhere...or anyone wanna sell me one? :Punplugging the maft (2g with ohm cable) stopped the surge. Not sure if thats related
Sounds good.So I put in my blacktop CAS again, no more code there.
Set my base timing to 5 degrees. (0 with the gun at 5, and 5 with the gun at 0)Now Ive got some sort or surge.
It seems the deadtime might be too high?
If I lower the deadtime, car leans out but stops surging.
Its an...
It looks like once closed loop activated, it fell gradually from 120-0.
My s90 throttle body only has a TPS, everything else is deleted.
Not sure if thats related?Roger.
Now that it runs and warms up, I'll look into getting rid of CAS code by swapping back to blacktop....hopefully,
and set the...
For sure ill do more digging and make sure everything else is pretty stock.I finally got the car into closed loop!Leak down holds about 95% air across all 4.
Compression test got 130 cold across board.Fixed a buncha vacuum/boost leaks.
Swapped in 950cc FIC.
Changed CAS.Still wouldn't...
Hey guys. Like I said. I'm in the middle of moving so times been a little crunched. I haven't had a chance to mess with the car until now.I'll grab my Greentop out of storage today and try that.It is a 2.0l I will adjust that.I'll try deadtime after casThank you everyoneTO AVOID DOUBLE...
So far, I've adjusted the TPS manually to 0.65v (as close as I could get), then re ran the ECMLink calibration.
I added the SMIM template to MafClamp
Copied the 2g stock template from V3configs.
0'd out the Maf Comp changes I made.
Set deadtime back to recommended 210 for FIC 650sIts looking...
It's an ebay intake manifold, I couldnt find a similar image on ebay currently.I haven't had time to mess with it the last few days, I'm in the middle of moving.I will replace my OpenLoopMaxOctane with the 2g chart. And 0 out my MafComp sliders. Are you suggesting manually adjust the TPS...
Thanks guys ill make a boost leak tester at home depot racing and try swapping out CAS. I have a green top sitting around.I tried adjusting the CAS all the way left and right and it didn't affect timing.I had the stock o2 (not sure if sensor was good) hooked up before wiring the wideband. It...
1). Any boost, vac, or exhaust leaks?
Vacuum and exhaust good visibly good, tight and all new. I don't have a boost leak tester.2). Verified mechanical timing?
Yes3). Verified base timing?
Verified CAS but i cant get idling long enough to set ignition timing.4). Ignition system
COP or...
Not exactly sure what your asking.Something about a Bee r rev limiter? It helps people understand, if you use punctuation, somewhat proper grammar, and no run on sentances. :P
Rebuilds are super easy by the way, and parts are usually like 50-75$, I did my trucks garrett turbo no problem, but I didn't have any shaft play or contact, it was preventative maintainance. The main issue is you need to balance everything afterwards. And its one of those things, you may as...
Should just require a rebuild, I may be wrong. Id imagine the bearings are worn.Jusmx141 I believe is the name of the guy you want on here. Master turbo rebuilder, he balances and does machine work as well.https://www.dsmtuners.com/members/jusmx141.60709/
Did you ever determine why you were losing compression? Hopefully the bottom end checks out. One thing I've learned, is if you already have the head off, double check the bottom end! I did a head gasket/head job 2 times on my truck once. Fixed small issues both times, but neglected to check...
Unfortunately most people still building DSMs don't have that type of money to throw around. I agree its way easier and cheaper to just do the work yourself, or even pay someone to do it. Most people with that type of money moved on to Evos and GTRs etc.The enthusiasm is appreciated, but...
That will replace the soft lines only in the wheel wells. I used a similar set (from goodridge) along with JNZTUNING ABS delete. Which replaces under the hood lines to the front wheels. But keeps the hard lines running to the rear...
Are you talking about the thin metal plate that keeps the bottom of the bumper from flapping? Honestly Couldnt tell you, my project is 95% done and I havent put it back on yet. I live in the NW so no overheating issues expected with Aluminum radiator and fans. And I'm not running AC, but was...
My suggestion, after fxxking with my drain line for like 6 hours, with different combinations, and working with rigid AN lines, and very low tolerance, is to just use pushlok with some nice flexible rubber hose. Or just flanges and clamps with rubber oil line.Idk if its possible but moving the...
I have the ETS street intercooler on my 1g talon. You can see in my profile pic! Only minimal trimming of the inside of the bumper cover was necessary.Your biggest problem will be finding intercooler piping. I have a buddy that welds so i bought a universal kit, cut a few bends to length and...
My 1g wouldn't start one time because the coolant temp sensor had popped off.OHM Racing sells the replacement plug with wire pigtail. I got from their ebay store for fast shipping along with a few other damaged connectors.
The car was basically free because it need a clutch, so I didnt care too much :P
Honestly, on a car you care about I wouldn't skimp on the flywheel. It's not too much more for a fidanza, competition etc. And Its bolted to your crank! I hear a lot of good things about the XTD clutches though...
You should be able to handle 400hp easily without concern of any drivetrain issues, besides the clutch. That seems to be the mark people put on a 6 bolt motor in stock form (400hp), and I've never seen 1 person bring up the tranny or axles needing to be built before that.
I have an XTD stage 4 sprung clutch in my 1g, with a fidanza aluminum/steel flywheel. I have yet to start the car yet :P SO i can't give any real feedback. But I did a lot of research to end up at that point.I had a 2g a few years ago and it would slip the stock clutch at 20+psi on a 20g...
Also!!! Mark with tape and sharpie (or similar) all of your connections and what is unused or a ground etc.I had a hell of a time trying to figure out what was wrong. Had to scour thru the harness and found a few unused connectors. Eventually to realize I didnt' plug the main one into the...
If you have time and space its really not too bad. My only advice is dont mess with too many things at a time with wiring lol.I replaced a harness, fixed boost oil and coolant leaks, and modded things like fuel system, tune and intercooler all at once on that car. It made it very difficult...
I believe there is just 2 harnesses (concerning the motor). i had to replace the body harness on my old 2g. It goes from in the car, thru the dash and firewall, thru the (driver?) fender and I cant remember where it connects to the engine harness.Sounds like you will need the body harness. I...
Right on! Welcome back. I'm kind of in the same boat. Owned this car 7 years now and I've yet to drive it besides rolling off a trailer. :P I've just started working on it any chance I can get now, and shes almost ready to start!Whats up with your car?
post a WTB *want to buy* add in the classifieds section.I always try the wiggle and slap and tickle first :pif that doesn't work, I guess check the grounds and all connections. Also use the search function: Post number 2 and 4 on thread may help...
Is it just that little crack looking thing?? -- Id say have it welded too Paul Walker :PBut honestly don't feel bad. All part of how you learn. One time I cracked 2 oem oil pump housings in a row. (within 10 minutes) by having the gear on the shaft backwards. ~$325 a piece lol. There were...
Sick car with low miles!Id look for the metal door handles for 2gs if you can! its a very common issue/design flaw. I had to leave my window down, or crawl thru the hatch on my old 2g talon :PI believe a member on here made the metal door handles! Not sure if theyre still around.They'res...
