    1G 1G Eclipse Stuck in 3rd Gear

Sounds like it's in limp mode. Search "blue wire mod" thst way you can bypass the tcu to find out of its wiring or the TCU itself

    1G Water oil cooler delete/replace

I have an oem 90' engine in my cat with the original ofh. I just deleted the lines with the stm kit. I haven't had any issues in 3+ years & 15k miles on an e316g

    16g rebuild help

I know from experience the locking pin in the turbine isn't an absolute need. I lost the dowel for mine so I just get it close and tighten down the v band. Never had any issues for 3 seasons that way.

4g steering wheel in my 2g

I did this in my 1g.. looks and feels so much better. Not flimsy like my 1g wheel was.

"Good Ole EVO III 16g days"... Just my thoughts

I always try to encourage people to stay close to stock and keep their set ups simple. They usually don't listen, fine by me.. I'd rather have a strong running 16g car than a 9 second car parted out on jack stands.

    1G Oil Cooler and Lines

I bought the STM oil cooler delete and have had no issues although my car is a street only car

Calling all turbo gurus. Weird failure, looking for a diagnosis.

I'm not sure if this was the reverse threaded 14b or not, the compressor nut and threaded piece of the turbine shaft were the only things I didn't find. Your explanation does make sense though. Just an old turbo being pushed too hard I suppose.Did you experience any engine failures when your...

    90 OFH Replacement

Did you read my post? All you need to do is pull 2 timing cover pull bolts by the ofh, pull the cover toward you and boom there's the bolt you need to loosen. I changed my ofh last year and it took about 5 minutes to remove.

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

So you solder the bare wire straight to the pin on the back side of the female plug? I figured there must be a better way or some sort of proper size connectors. I feel like such a newb for asking these questions but this is not my forte'.
  11. bigbird94

    90 OFH Replacement

You can remove one or timing cover bolts, pull the cover back and access the 4th bolt with a wrench, not the proper way but I've done it.

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

When making the 1g to Evo patch harness what connectors are you guys using to attach the wires to the 1g female plug? How did you attach them? Sorry for the questions. I just have no clue where to get connectors that small.

    1G Egr block-off Plate

It's up to you. I pretty much rip the egr out of my dsm's before I get them home. I run my vacuum lines just like this picture does. Your needs may be different but as long you cover the hoses in the diagram you are fine.
  14. bigbird94

    1G Egr block-off Plate

^ no. The point of the plate is to delete the valve after all.... just put a little grey rtv on the plate and torque the two bolts down evenly.

    Considering a full build on a 420a

Don't just don't. Nothing good comes from 420a turbo builds. Just sell it and buy a real dsm, it's a much better platform, no need to reinvent the wheel.
  16. bigbird94

New to DSM's, but I picked one up because of the deal

Sounds like you got a great deal! Keep it up, running, and full of oil. Also I recommend a new timing belt as they wear with age and mileage so you never know how good it really is.
  17. bigbird94

    waste gate/alternator clearence

Jays racing alternator relocation kit (if you don't have ac) or re-weld the mani/or o2 housing.

Evo 8 Intake On 6 Bolt Head ;)

^ I think the purpose of this is to flip the throttle body to the opposite side for a 6 bolt rwd set up. Easier routing if piping.

Manual boost controllers-how they work and which ones are best

I have run Hallman and voodoo brand controllers. For the price just get a $20 voodoo controller off of eBay. Why would anyone need to manually control boost from the cockpit?

    97 GSX Build

This is why I usually recommend people learn to tune their own cars. I have seen so many cars with "professional" tunes be waaaayyyyy off. As far as the timing belt thing goes I can't say. If you didn't specifically ask for new timing components then... Idk who's to blame :/
  21. bigbird94

    1G Hard intake pipe

I made an injen intake and kn filter fit on my 1g. I have relocated the fuse box and have short route intercooler piping though. It all depends on your set up.

JACKS TRANSMISSIONS IS DONE WITH DSM's

Wow, I never realized tranny parts were getting so hard to find. Now I don't feel so bad about the 5 awd transmissons I've been hoarding lol

    RWD 4G63 Subframe mod?

This^^^^^The car is unsafe, PERIOD. Just driving it is a risk to the driver and passenger. If you went in reverse fast enough and hit the brakes that engine would slide through the non existent firewall and into the drivers lap.Ruining a clean 1g like this should be a crime.

Evo X owner think of getting a gsx

I'd say go for it! Leases are a good way to piss away money. My only advice is to be patient and find a solid car to start with.

1g radiator ducting/ tips and advice

I used black duct tape (gorilla brand) to seal my fmic to the radiator. Work all the way around it and seal the ic and rad as close to air tight as you can. When almost dont uou can look in the gap and look for light seeping in and see where you to add more tape.. hope that all makes sense...

Even if it did, it's not worth the effort. Leave it auto, the autos in these cars are better anyway.

Oil port mod #2 for the 4G63t

Ok thanks for the answer biglady. It looks like ill just drill the one holeArrowhead, In my last post I just said thet the studs can be removed via the top allens and wont be an issue. Thanks for trying asyer realizing that it was valid.
  34. bigbird94

Oil port mod #2 for the 4G63t

No biglady, that is not something ive had to do. Considering I can remove all the studs with an allen I not in the least bit worried about that issue.Maybe somone else can chime in with a mechanical/oiling reason to drill the other nine holes?
  35. bigbird94

Oil port mod #2 for the 4G63t

Arrowhead why dont you read MY post before quoting it. Both myself amd another member have been able to fit our 12mm studs exactly where bpgus said we COULDN'T. There is obviously something wrong there. My question involving WHY the others would need to be drilled if the stud fits was absolutely...

Oil port mod #2 for the 4G63t

Bogus, I am in the proccess of putting a 7 bolt head on my 6 bolt. My arps fit snug in all the bolt holes. Will I be ok just drilling out the one bolt hole? Or is there some other reason they all need to be 1/2"?

Impressive! What clutch? Stock 5 speed awd trans?
  38. bigbird94

    420A Valve cover gasket?

It helps to have a metal half moon. The stock rubber one will expand and contract with heat and cause leaks.

    problems after rebuild

Every case is different. Im sure some people get away without machine work. If you used plastigauge dont put too mich faith in those readings.
  40. bigbird94

    problems after rebuild

If you run arp rod/main bolts you must line hone everything. Big end of the rod is probably out of round. I wouldn't drive it.
  41. bigbird94

which OEM tail lights would you use on 92 gsx

I have a 93 gsx and swapped to 90' Talon tail lights. Not a perfect fit but much better than the stupid blue stripe through the lights. I made a thread in here with pics. You can find it on my profile.

good light rims and performance not killing pocket

Rx7 fd wheels are super light and can be had for $250 without tires. Watch out because they had a reinforced and an unreinforced version.

    400hp AWD DD Spyder Build

You should really reconsider the awd 5 speed swap. Cars with mileage like that have value because they are getting so hard to find. The auto will win races, a 5 speed will impress 16 year old kids.
  44. bigbird94

    Precision or 16g turbo?

It doesn't sound like you are experienced enough for a big turbo. Buy a 14b or 16g and a street tune and do sime learning first.Seriously.
  45. bigbird94

1Gb talon intercooler poking out options.

First off that car is a greaat color, I wanted one like that but settled on a darker blue. For the IC yiu just need to do whatever it takes to move it up.Dont be afraid to remove the crashe beam or anything else. Its a 20 year old car its past that lol
  46. bigbird94

1st build need a little advice

Id reccomend stock pistons/rods with new bearings. Get the crank checked and block honed. Full valve job on head by a a shop that knows the 4G63
  47. bigbird94

Just looking for some extra eyes on my setup. Any glaring problems or missing links?

A properly modded stick 1g bov can hold 30psi all day with no leaks.
  48. bigbird94

    T28...where can I find one?

I would NEVER reccomend a t25 or t28.Look into a tdo5h based turbo (14b/16g/20g). They will require some modification to fit (aassuming you have a stock 2g) but will be well worth. STM makes a kit to dp the swap and im sure there is an ebay equivalent that works just fine.People have...
